Ottawa's decorated quite nicely this time of year.

This is my second week in a row in Ottawa. Although quite busy here I was able to take a couple of photos near parliament hill, and it finally occurred to me...even on an overcast day Ottawa is so beautiful in the fall......

It looks much better large

A lot of back-story here; if only I knew some of it.

PLEASE, NO invitations or self promotions, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks.

A large ‘OTTAWA’ sign in the ByWard Market.

ByWard Market was established by Lt-Col. John By in 1826, it is one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets. The legendary builder of the Rideau Canal, Colonel By himself laid out the street plan of the Market.

In an area roughly four blocks square, you'll find museums, cafés, specialty food shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, pubs, hair & aesthetics salons and more!

Spring waters spilling on the pathways and roadways caused floods in Ottawa/Gatineau that have not been seen for decades. It was caused by a lot of rain in April and a lot of melting snow.

The new Ottawa Convention which reopened this year, was built on the old site, with a major expansion and sporting this new glass facade. I really like this new look as it really adds much vibrancy and elegance to the downtown core of what is an otherwise conservative core.

Freezing cold could not stop us from taking photo. A photo from the Parliament Canada, Ottawa. Luckily, we got there the day after a snow storm. Everything is so beautiful where the fluffy pile of snow cover on them.

I completed my 19th marathon this morning. The Ottawa Marathon was modified this year because of COVID-19. Participants were able to run the race virtually, on their own and choosing their own route. Race medals and shirts are mailed to each runner. I chose to run from my home in downtown Cornwall to Phillpots Island on the Long Sault Parkway and back home to complete the 42.2 km race. With no water or aid stations along the route, I ran this race completely on my own using an Osprey backpack containing 2.5 Litres of water, 3 small bottles of Gatorade and 4 energy gels. This selfie was taken at the halfway and turnaround point on Phillpotts Island.

The canal becomes the world’s longest skating rink when it freezes over.

During this time, locals and recreational skaters use the canal as a transit way.

Lovin' those colourful windows on that building.

From the shore Quebec side of the Ottawa River, one can appreciate the grandeur of the view of Canada's capital.

On the left is the Alexandra bridge, a century-old steel truss cantilever bridge that spans the Ottawa River between Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau. Sweeping to the right, the National Gallery of Canada is next, followed by the Chateau Laurier, and culminating on the gothic-revival architecture as seen on Parliament Hill.
