Morača Monastery is an Orthodox male monastery in Montenegro, in the valley of Morača River.

It was built in the years 1251-1252. During this period, the main monastery temple was built - the church of the Mother of God. The church belongs to the so-called Rashcan school. As a result, both Byzantine and Romanesque motifs intertwine in the church.

In 1504, during the Turkish invasion, the monastery was looted and burned, it was rebuilt in 1574. The relics of St. Kharlamp are kept here.

It is an important pilgrimage and tourist center.

Monaster Morača to prawosławny męski klasztor w Czarnogórze, w dolinie rzeki Morača.

Wybudowano go w latach 1251-1252. W tym okresie powstała główna świątynia monasterska - cerkiew Matki Bożej. Cerkiew należy do tzw. szkoły raszkańskiej. Powoduje to, że w cerkwi przeplatają się motywy zarówno bizantyńskie jak i romańskie.

W 1504 w czasie najazdu tureckiego monaster został splądrowany i spalony, odbudowano go w 1574 roku.

W monasterze przechowywane są relikwie ręki św. Charłampa. Jest to znaczący ośrodek pielgrzymkowy oraz turystyczny.

More than 550 Greek Orthodox churches, chapels and monasteries located in towns and villages of the occupied areas, have been pillaged, deliberately vandalized and, in some cases, demolished. Many Christian places of worship have been converted into mosques, depots of the Turkish army, stockyards and hay barns.

The Pochaiv Lavra of God's Mother Dormition is an Orthodox Monastery in Poczajów, Ukraine. It is under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, the most important center of Orthodox monastic life in Volhynia and Ukraine.

The history of the monastery dates back to the 13th and even the 12th century. Initially, there was a hermitage here, then an Orthodox monastery, then a Uniate Basilian monastery and again an Orthodox church of the Moscow rite. Its history is turbulent, as is the political history of these lands.

Ławra Poczajowska Zaśnięcia Matki Bożej w Poczajowie jest prawosławnym klasztorem w Poczajowie na Ukrainie. Podlega jurysdykcji Ukraińskiego Kościoła Prawosławnego Patriarchatu Moskiewskiego, najważniejszy ośrodek prawosławnego życia monastycznego na Wołyniu i Ukrainie.

Historia monastyru sięga XIII wieku a nawet XII wieku.

Built above one of the fortress towers of the Babylon, the Church of St. George is a Greek Orthodox church in Coptic Cairo. It was originally built in the 7th century, but the current structure was rebuilt following a 1904 fire. St. George is the only round church in Egypt, but unlike the original Church of the Holy Sepulchre and its many imitators, this is only for practical reasons – it is built atop the foundations of a Roman round tower.

Mar is a title of respect in Syriac, literally meaning my lord. It is given to all saints and bishops. Girgis is the Arabized adoption of the Greek word Georgios, thus Mar Girgis means St. George in English.

Kiev Pechersk Lavra, Kyiv Pechersk Lavra or Kyivo-Pechers’ka Lavra (Ukrainian: Києво-Печерська лавра: Kyievo-Pechers'ka lavra; Russian: Киeво-Печерская лавра: Kiyevo-Pecherskaya lavra), also known as the Kyiv Monastery of the Caves, is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery which gave its name to one of the city districts where it is located in Kyiv.

Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1051, the Lavra has been a preeminent center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. Together with the Saint Sophia Cathedral, it is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery complex is considered a separate national historic-cultural preserve (sanctuary), the national status to which was granted on 13 March 1996. The Lavra is not only located in another part of the city, but is part of a different national sanctuary than Saint Sophia Cathedral.

Putna Monastery, dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God, is an Orthodox Christian monastic place, important cultural, religious and artistic center. In 2021, the authorities in Suceava County began marking the Via Mariae route to Putna Monastery.

The monastery is located 33 km northwest of Radauti, Suceava County. In the scriptory of Putna were copied manuscripts and precious miniatures were made. The place holds a rich monastery museum, with embroideries, manuscripts, religious objects, icons, etc.

The entrance to the monastery is made under the vaulted archer of a tower composed of ground floor and first floor, on whose eastern façade is the coat of arms of Moldova dated 1471. The tower was built in 1757 in the time of Prince Constantin Racoviță, this one also bearing the coat of arms on the western facade, in which the coats of arms of Moldavia and Wallachia appear together. Because the poet Mihai Eminescu together with Ioan Slavici and other participants in the “Putna Celebration” in August 1871 overnighted in those days in the hall upstairs, this construction is called “The Eminescu Tower”. Also on the east side is located the “Tower of the bell tower”, built in 1882.
