Tried to bring a more organic feel to some blading work. This was from a practice set up to try and pin down my movements more than anything else. Looking forward to doing more in the next few weeks.

Apples are one of the things we are never short of here in Normandie and there are many interesting, ancient, festive dishes associated with them. This is just one and for it I'm using late apples from our orchard, russets and other cider apples, which by this time of year are good 'eaters'. I'm topping them with another great Norman ingredient thick raw cream from our local rare breed organic dairy farm. Enjoy! This is our organic balcony garden in Winnipeg. We have been growing it for two summers now.
We have tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and peas. We are also working on a herb garden with several fun herbs. You can also see our prairie grass bin which is in it's second year.
All of the plants, seeds, soil, and worm castings were purchased at various organic stores in Winnipeg. We also used worm castings from our own vermicompost bin.
Winnipeg has a great organic community with Sage Garden Herbs, Humbolts Legacy, and Organic Planet helping us get started.
We have a great south facing balcony that gets sun all day long. We just tasted our peas and they were so good. Tomatoes and lettuce are on the way!

Non-Lego parts: wire, twigs, plant roots, Plasticine. I'm interesting in juxtaposing solid forms with branching one, as in the top left photo. To do it properly in Lego parts would be too expensive for me so I'm looking for cheaper short cuts (ie, three meters of wire I can cut and bend to shape for $5 or something).

One of the bigger things that I've learned since going on this photographic voyage a few years ago is to appreciate beauty in the ordinary.
I have a very large hosta in my garden with enormous leaves. I call it the Hosta From Another Planet because when we tried to kill it, or at least move it, when we put in a pad for an air conditioner about 20 years ago, it came back even bigger. When my neighbors cut down their tree leaving the hosta in the hot afternoon sun, it seemed to thrive even more. So I just gave up and keep the leaves trimmed away from the AC vents. This year I forgot to trim it back to the ground after the first frost and a couple weeks ago I went out to find a wilted pile.
But then I realized that the lines and curves and colors were really quite beautiful. So I decided to add it to my Organic Abstracts series.
