Bible verse

1 Corinthians 10:13

" No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it ."

SIGNS OF THE TIMES

Too bad to keep the heads under the sand and live in great pretence that nothing will happen

and think it's the same as any other time ; watch football and all crappy mind numbing

entertainments on TV as if nothing gonna happen . It's denial galore , a wrong coping

mechanism to take on when its time to realize and prepare. With all the changing

dymanics of the world today , it's foreseeable what is coming and don't even see the

horrors that will come to them. Purely trusting the manipulative mainstream media

of lies .... seal the brains and close the

eyes until the SHTF!

Stan Deyo on Prepping

Talks of Earth Changes, Comets, Solar Weather, Agenda 21, Monsanto , coming massive

California Earthquake etc...

This isn't fear mongering but as way of encouragment not through fear but of the love

of God, ok ;)

I was criticized also by another christian for making this stand of giving emphases of scary news

around the world, but should I just let it pass and not give warnings to those who are sleeping.

As a christian we should encouraged one another, give warnings even so to get as many ready

for the coming of our Lord savior , Jesus Christ.

.

This is just as form of encouragement to everyone for whoever may come across

this post flickr or non-flickrenos who may just stumble on this post .

It's time to get close to God, be born-again in Christ

get your lives ready as things are reeling into the perilous time for Tribulation.

I do believe personally we are in times of the birth pangs due to one confirming

bizarre experience I had in 2011.

Be ready in Christ and seek Him .

For people who don't believe rather see this as ridiculous, I can't do anything .

This is only sharing . I knew there are people who hates my post esp labelling me as too religious.

No I'm not religious, I don't attach myself to a religion . I attach myself to Christ, that's all.

I should be enjoying photography , without involvement of " religious "stuffs or talking about God

on my post .However I was convicted by the Lord in this borrowed time, that I should be making this useful photography corner on the web to share the love of God and the message of Salvation.

Christians should let their light of Christ shine in this dark world. Glorifying God in all you do, not

to please people of different religious beliefs by being neutral to all religions in all your posts, hiding the light of Christ and conforming to the world so many will accept you, it's giving compromise to faith of Christ . In this borrowed time Christians should share and the love of Christ so many will know.

I've done my part for flckr. I am also working for the Lord in my extra personal time apart from work

, with intention of spreading the gospel . Part of my income I gave away for the love of God , some are given for the needy back in the Philippines for food of people who can't eat 3x day meal. I have monthly commitment for Lord for this purpose . I'm more touched in giving to old people and widows with many children , those who are weak , no income ,

no pension or social welfare from the government. It's really difficult life out there if one has nothing

to fall on .

Oh we should not tell people --- but this is the word of encouragement

for people who are close to the Lord, do something in your own community,

in your own place to help the weak

or where your heart goes as the lord will bless you back.

Proverbs 19:17

"He that has pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that which he has

given will he pay him again."

2 Corinthians 9:6

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever

sows generously will also reap generously."

Matthew 25:40

"The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of

these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'

Store your resources in heaven where no one would steal. God will make rewards back -

when you help others in dire need, in name of Christ , God has kept records of what youve done.

But don't expect to turn as rich as as Donald Trump . Don't set your hearts over riches in this world.

God bless.

St. Louis is an independent city and inland port in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is situated along the western bank of the Mississippi River, which marks Missouri's border with Illinois. The Missouri River merges with the Mississippi River just north of the city. These two rivers combined form the fourth longest river system in the world. The city had an estimated 2017 population of 308,626 and is the cultural and economic center of the St. Louis metropolitan area (home to nearly 3,000,000 people), which is the largest metropolitan area in Missouri, the second-largest in Illinois (after Chicago), and the 22nd-largest in the United States.

Before European settlement, the area was a regional center of Native American Mississippian culture. The city of St. Louis was founded in 1764 by French fur traders Pierre Laclède and Auguste Chouteau, and named after Louis IX of France. In 1764, following France's defeat in the Seven Years' War, the area was ceded to Spain and retroceded back to France in 1800. In 1803, the United States acquired the territory as part of the Louisiana Purchase. During the 19th century, St. Louis became a major port on the Mississippi River; at the time of the 1870 Census it was the fourth-largest city in the country. It separated from St. Louis County in 1877, becoming an independent city and limiting its own political boundaries. In 1904, it hosted the Louisiana Purchase Exposition and the Summer Olympics.

The economy of metropolitan St. Louis relies on service, manufacturing, trade, transportation of goods, and tourism. Its metro area is home to major corporations, including Anheuser-Busch, Express Scripts, Centene, Boeing Defense, Emerson, Energizer, Panera, Enterprise, Peabody Energy, Ameren, Post Holdings, Monsanto, Edward Jones, Go Jet, Purina and Sigma-Aldrich. Nine of the ten Fortune 500 companies based in Missouri are located within the St. Louis metropolitan area. The city has also become known for its growing medical, pharmaceutical, and research presence due to institutions such as Washington University in St. Louis and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. St. Louis has two professional sports teams: the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball and the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. One of the city's iconic sights is the 630-foot (192 m) tall Gateway Arch in the downtown area.

Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Station_(St._Louis)

St. Louis Union Station is a National Historic Landmark train station in St. Louis, Missouri. At its 1894 opening, the station was the largest in the world that had tracks and passenger service areas all on one level. Traffic peaked at 100,000 people a day the 1940s. The last passenger train left the station in 1978.

In the 1980s, it was renovated as a hotel, shopping center, and entertainment complex. The 2010s and 2020s saw more renovation and expansion of entertainment and office capacity.

An adjacent station serves the light-rail MetroLink Red and Blue Lines, which run under the station in the Union Station subway tunnel. The city's intercity train station sits a quarter-mile to the south, serving MetroLink, Amtrak, and Greyhound Bus.

Tell Congress to increase funding for global clean water

Safe drinking water is essential for human health and economic development. But one in eight people (884 million) around the world live without safe drinking water and two in five (2.5 billion) do not have adequate toilets. Every day 4,500 children in developing countries die from diarrheal disease due to dirty water.

Simple low-cost solutions for clean water and safe sanitation are among the most effective measures that can be taken to reduce disease and death, especially in children. Moreover, providing safe drinking water and sanitation programs helps meet other international sustainable development goals, including education, food security and lessening the impact of climate change.

Passed in 2005, the Paul Simon Water for the Poor Act has expanded U.S. activities in water and sanitation. Last year, Congress appropriated $315 million for the implementation of safe drinking water and sanitation projects. While progress has been made, more funds are still needed to close the gap between the current level of investment and the resources required to reduce the number of people without access to safe water and sanitation. With an increased investment of $500 million per year, the United States could target the places of greatest need and provide permanent solutions to one of the world's worst environmental health problems.

microVIDEOS www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF345ECD3D510657E

Welcome back Class of 1978 Ames Senior High School !!

Ames High School class of 1978 40-year post reunion summary

The 40th reunion was so fun !! The class of 1978 is quickly becoming one of the most connected classes out of all the Alumni classes at AHS, as approximately 102 1978 classmates met and re-connected on Friday Sep 28 2018 at North Cyde restaurant in North Ames, Iowa.

Saturday, September 29 we all toured the High School then 100+ classmates met again later that day at the American Legion on Main street for a banquet, group photos, a short program and then another wonderfully enchanted evening of re-connecting with old friends. It was so much fun to see classmates we had not seen for so long, in some cases not since AHS days 40 years ago. We all have journeyed 40 years to get back together again. Ever so special to have friends that span most, if not all of your life, especially after 40 plus years. Then we shed a tear and said our goodbyes and we hope to see you again soon, maybe in 5 years.

Better on Black

I played hooky today and spent the day with the inventor of the egg carton and refrigerator shipping (the same great lady!), the creator of Thanksgiving and Mary Had a Little Lamb (the same lady!), a signer of The Declaration of Independence, the voice of the Phillies, an Arctic explorer, Titanic victims and many many more! I spent the day at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia. A cemetery on my visit wish list! One more off the list! I got to half of it. HALF! I missed some major monuments, but there was just no time! If you enjoy Victorian art, you must visit this cemetery…it’s more art garden than graveyard. So pick a nice day…bring along a picnic basket and make the day of it.

Laurel Hill Cemetery is a great cemetery. It would be a great thing if all cemeteries could be like Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA. They get the community involved by having fun events (not just tours) in the cemetery itself. Folktales, music, balls, banquets…all in the cemetery. It’s exactly what the founders wanted. A city park that is open for all. There just happens to be people buried there, that’s all!

The following info was taken from www.thelaurelhillcemetery.org If you live in the Philadelphia area and have not checked out the great events at the cemetery, you must do so!

Picnics, strolls, carriage rides and sightseeing were popular pastimes in Laurel Hill’s early days, when “nearly 30,000 persons…entered the gates between April and December, 1848.” The site continues to remain a favored retreat for tourists, joggers, bicyclists, nature lovers, sketch artists and amateur photographers.

Laurel Hill is one of the few cemeteries in the nation to be honored with the designation of National Historic Landmark, a title received in 1998. Numerous prominent people are buried at the Cemetery, including many of Philadelphia’s leading industrial magnates. Names such as Rittenhouse, Widener, Elkins and Strawbridge certainly pique local interests, but Laurel Hill also appeals to a national audience. General Meade and thirty-nine other Civil War-era generals reside here, in addition to six Titanic passengers. As in its earliest days, Laurel Hill’s natural beauty and serenity continue to render it a bucolic retreat nestled within the city’s limits overlooking the Schuylkill River. This beautiful green space is further complemented by the breathtaking art, sculpture and architecture that can be found here. These are just some of the many attributes that render Laurel Hill Cemetery a primary destination for local and national visitors to the City of Brotherly Love.

History

In late 1835, John Jay Smith, a Quaker and librarian, recorded in his diary: “The City of Philadelphia has been increasing so rapidly of late years that the living population has multiplied beyond the means of accommodation for the dead…on recently visiting Friends grave yard in Cherry Street I found it impossible to designate the resting place of a darling daughter, determined me to endeavor to procure for the citizens a suitable, neat and orderly location for a rural cemetery.”

Smith’s very personal experience ultimately had very public implications, as less than one year later, this grieving father founded Laurel Hill Cemetery with partners Nathan Dunn, Benjamin W. Richards and Frederick Brown. When Smith conceived of Laurel Hill, he envisioned something fundamentally different from the burial places that came before it, and the site has continued to hold an important place of distinction as one of the first cemeteries of its kind. Key concepts to Laurel Hill’s founding were that it had to be situated in a picturesque location well outside the city; that it had no religious affiliation; and that it provided a permanent burial space for the dead in a restful and tranquil setting.

A visit to the National Trust owned Flatford Mill in Suffolk.

Flatford Mill is a Grade I listed watermill on the River Stour at Flatford in East Bergholt, Suffolk, England. According to the date-stone the mill was built in 1733, but some of the structure may be earlier. Attached to the mill is a 17th-century miller's cottage which is also Grade I listed. The property is in Dedham Vale, a typically English rural landscape.

The mill was owned by the artist John Constable's father and is noted, along with its immediate surroundings as the location for many of Constable's works. It is referred to in the title of one of his most iconic paintings, Flatford Mill (Scene on a Navigable River), and mentioned in the title or is the subject of several others including: Flatford Mill from a lock on the river Stour; Flatford Mill from the lock (A water mill); The Lock. The Hay Wain, which features Willy Lott's Cottage, was painted from the front of the mill.

The mill is located downstream from Bridge Cottage which, along with neighbouring Valley Farm and Willy Lott's Cottage, are leased to the Field Studies Council, a group that uses them as locations for arts, ecology and natural history based courses.

After the guided tour had ended, we walked a little bit beyond Flatford Lock.

This view of Flatford Mill from the other side of the River Stour.

When we were on the tour, we were over on that side of the mill.

Interior view of rotunda Capitol building of Puerto Rico

For Puerto Ricans, El Capitolio de Puerto Rico stands as a powerful symbol of self-government. Former resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Luis Muñoz Rivera promoted the idea of constructing a capitol building as early as 1907; later he was the prime mover in seeking the capitol building's construction between 1925 and 1929. The dome, however, was not completed until 1961. Although Puerto Rican architect Rafael Carmoega designed this magnificent Neoclassical Revival style building, many other famous Puerto Rican artists--Rafael Rios Rey, José Oliver, Jorge Rechani and Rafael Tufiño and others--collaborated on the capitol's interior design, which is highlighted by murals and mosaics depicting Puerto Rico's history.

Dom zu Lübeck (Lübeck Cathedral), Hanseatic City of Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

---quotation from en.wikipedia.org:---

The Lübeck Cathedral (German: Dom zu Lübeck, or colloquially Lübecker Dom) is a large brick Lutheran cathedral in Lübeck, Germany and part of Lübeck's world heritage. It was started in 1173 by Henry the Lion as a cathedral for the Bishop of Lübeck. It was partly destroyed in a bombing raid in World War II (1942), and later reconstructed. The organ by Arp Schnitger was lost in the fire. The current church was finished in 1982.

It is also famous for works of Bernt Notke and Thomas Quellinus, which survived the bombing raid in 1942. The famous altar by Hans Memling is now in Lübeck's St. Annen Museum.

The old city center of Lübeck is in great parts inscribed in the World Heritage List of the UNESCO. A plan of the inscribed zones can be found here: whc.unesco.org/download.cfm?id_document=102311

---quotation from whc.unesco.org:---

Lübeck – the former capital and Queen City of the Hanseatic League – was founded in the 12th century and prospered until the 16th century as the major trading centre for northern Europe. It has remained a centre for maritime commerce to this day, particularly with the Nordic countries. Despite the damage it suffered during the Second World War, the basic structure of the old city, consisting mainly of 15th- and 16th-century patrician residences, public monuments (the famous Holstentor brick gate), churches and salt storehouses, remains unaltered.

Before talking about the procession of the Holy Crucifix of Aracoeli which is held in the town of San Marco d'Alunzio (in the province of Messina), I make a brief introduction, this "photographic story" was created with photographs taken both during the procession of this year 2024, and during the procession of last year 2023, this meant, in some cases, that in some key moments of the procession the shots were taken simultaneously from two different angles, as if I had been in "bilocation", this because this year I chose a different perspective than last year. The procession begins on the morning of the last Friday of March each year, however there is an exception to this rule, when it coincides with Good Friday, which happened this year, then the procession is brought forward to the previous Friday. That of the SS. Crucifix of Aracoeli is an ancient penitential rite, on the day of the feast of the Crucifix in San Marco d'Alunzio the Holy Mass is celebrated in the Church of Aracoeli, therefore the SS. Crucifix (which is found in the church at the end of the right nave, at its feet the picture of the Virgin of Sorrows pierced by seven swords) is removed from the hook on which it is hanging, is taken outside the church, then raised and fixed on the float , and so (after the sermon of the priest who climbed onto the float next to the Crucifix) the Crucifix with the picture of his Sorrowful Mother underneath, then both placed on the float, are carried in procession by the Babbaluti, who proceed invoking the pity and mercy of the Lord with a faint lament that continually repeats “Signuri, Misericordia, Pietà!”. San Marco d'Alunzio is a pleasant town in the Messina area, located in the Nebrodi mountains, in Sicily; the procession takes place in honor of the Holy Crucifix of Araceli, this is a religious-penitential occasion also known as the "procession of the babbaluti", they are those who, by vote or by grace received, have decided to carry during the procession on their shoulders the float with the Crucifix and the painting; they head to the nearby Church of Santa Maria dei Poveri or to some private home nearby where, sheltered from the curiosity of the faithful, they wear a simple but characteristic indigo-coloured cloth habit, consisting of a tunic and a conical-shaped hood such to cover the entire body and leave only the eyes and hands free, it is not uncommon, however, that among the penitents, made anonymous by the habit they wear, there are also women, who, to avoid any possibility of recognition, wear a pair of gloves; the babbaluti are 33 in number to commemorate the 33 years of Christ, the number is odd, in fact the 33rd babbaluto does not wear the float, he (should be the "chief of float") proceeds backwards, turning his gaze to Christ and to His Mother, and at the same time checks that everything is in order among the babbaluti (this is a way of proceeding in carrying the float, which is present in various Sicilian religious processions). Then, the 32 (+1) "babbaluti" carry on their shoulders the launch bearing the Holy Crucifix of the Araceli church (the statue of Christ was created by Scipione Li Volsi, in the year 1652, he was a sculptor and plasterer of the Sicilian Baroque), at whose feet, on the float, the painting of Our Lady of Sorrows is tied, which appears pierced by seven swords (an 18th century painting). Before the start of the procession, the babbaluti advance barefoot wearing only heavy handmade raw wool socks. Before entering the church they must walk a purification path: when they arrive near the ancient church of Araceli , they bend down and kiss the ground, thus receiving permission to enter the church, but this happens from a side door, called "false door" (in Sicilian dialect “porta fausa”), once they enter the church laterally, they now emerge from the main entrance, thus being able to take their places, kneeling at the front and behind, of the float; the priest's long-awaited speech will follow, once finished, the procession can begin which takes place through the streets of the picturesque and welcoming town of San Marco d'Alunzio. Along the route the Babbaluti pace their pace accompanied by the sad and plaintive jugulation that invokes the Lord. There are devout men and women who proceed together with the mugglers, walking alongside the float, touching it, now caressing it... just to have physical (and consequently spiritual) contact with it. Finally, after having completed a specific route, the procession returns to the ancient church (of Norman origins) of Aracoeli. Whenever I am present at this touching occasion I am completely flooded with emotions (which however I cannot abandon myself to, I would lose concentration in taking the photos), the highlight is when the Crucified Christ is removed from the hook fixed on the wall by expert men, and then be carried (seems to float) above the heads of the devotees, supported with their hands, right outside the church, and be hoisted and fixed on the float; in these moments of intense emotion it is common to see in the eyes of the devotees, shining with tears, that profound emotion of their relationship with this Christ, which has always lasted: it is as if they found themselves in the presence of the true Christ, in flesh and blood, this it is the atmosphere you experience in those moments, this is the magic of the procession of the SS. Crucifix and his Mother, represented by the painting of Our Lady of Sorrows pierced by seven swords (iconography of Spanish origin).
