A spider web is such fun!

NASA's Orbit Pavilion at The Huntington in San Marino, California. The structure is an interpretive soundscape that emits sounds as the International Space Station and 19 Earth satellites pass overhead, each sound representing the mission of that particular satellite. I dreamed up the title as I looked at the photo today, with two people literally "entering Orbit."

Posted for Slider Sunday. Processed in Topaz Glow. HSS!

I don't normally shoot Christmas type of images, but saw a beautifully decorated tree yesterday and just happened to have my macro lens on my camera with me, so couldn't resist a few shots.

Build this on the first of Droneuary as per tradition, but messed up the photos the first time around.

Same frame as this dude, though with a ton of stuff added.

Orbital played Manchester Saturday night. We all went 200 degrees mental. You'll either love this or hate it, but it has to be loud.

Here's that Celebration Swings ride again, this time during the latter part of the glorious "blue hour" that photographers love. I focused on the wheel on purpose so that the riders in that part of the circle would be distinct silhouettes as opposed to the blurred figures in the periphery. Worth viewing large, by the way.

Some geometric fun in Frankfurt with Orbits, really enjoyed the pattern and the interplay of the shadows and human element.

This is my build for SHIPtember 2025. I would say this is the most ambitious build I've ever done. I am absolutely stoked with the results and couldn't be prouder to say i built that. Not as much of an emotional ride of a build as my first SHIPtember.

The build is kind of a milestone for me. It shows the growth in my personal building skills. I look back upon my builds and I can really see how far I have come in the 5 years of coming back into the hobby. Makes me excited for the future!

Thank you to my wife for putting up with me. Thank you @pyrefyre for convincing me to participate this year. Thank you @H for joining me/us on the journey! Thank you Andrew for the editing these are awesome! Thank you @BFG_Audiofiles for the wicked space backgrounds.

Happy SHIPtember 2025!

88% Moon. Windy and dusty conditions tonight. Not optimal sharpness as a result.

Marjolijn Dijkman, "Out of Orbit" at the exhibition Global Imaginations in the Meelfabriek, Leiden

The installation Out of Orbit consists of a long pendulum made of full steel and a circular pile of fine silver sand. The trajectory of the pendulum is partly influenced by the rotation of the earth and partly manipulated by two small pieces of robotics who influence the course of the pendulum.

Young Australian Walking Sticks hanging around. These have moulted about 2 tot 3 times.

This is a close-up HDR photo of the textured surface of the steering wheel of my car. In this minimalist macro framing, the detail of the arc reminds me of a planet seen from orbit.

A cineraria blossom, it's one of the only flowers to grow a true blue color. There should really be more blue flowers in the world, natural blue that is.
