The fuselage structure of the Oracle Challenger III flown by Sean D. Tucker is made of aluminum tubing where instead of connectors, each tube is drilled and the next tube inserted and welded, creating a networked series of voids that is then pressurized with nitrogen gas- this is then connected to a pressure gauge in the cockpit- should a crack in the structure develop, the gas pressure drops and Sean D. Tucker is instantly alerted of a problem.
