For Smile on Saturday - optical instruments

Happy weekend everyone.

smile on saturday #optical instruments

No more reading without my reading glasses .

And that question 'Where are my glasses?' has become one of the most often heard ones in this house!

Is there anyone out there who shares this experience? 😂

HSoS to all participants 💙💙💙

My Sister was in Her Nineties when she used this Optical Magnifyer...

It made a small smile Bigger.....

HSoS to all participants!

Smile on Saturday: Optical instruments.

I have worn eyeglasses since I was a little kid but now I have to wear progressive lenses because it was getting harder for my eyes to focus when switching from looking at distance, computer work and reading. I suppose I am at that "age" now. ;-)

Thank you very much for your visit. HSoS!

I really don’t like going to the eye doctor, because it is difficult for me to make a decision. I’m always saying go back to the other one a couple of times. Luckily I didn’t delete this permanently. Happy Smile on Saturday!

Thanks for views,faves and comments:-))

Does anyone remember when kid stuff was like this? It came with sharp metal tools, real glass test tubes, slides and specimen jars, also chemicals and dyes. Who knows how kids survived the 1960's?

Optical instruments For Smile on Saturday

With print this small, it's no wonder people had magnifying glasses.

Hard to to with one hand, but somewhat managed.

Smile on Saturday

but nothing borrowed....

A very old magnifying glass which belonged to my father and a feather from a budgerigar that died in the 80s. I used to look after two birds when their owners went on holiday and I always kept the feathers they lost.

For the Saturday Smile topic: "optical instruments"

I didn't need to wear spectacles until I was in my 50s, and I have never liked wearing them. I am conscious of them all the time, and don't like their feel, their weight.

But at last I have found the nearest thing to weightless specs! Totally rimless and with titanium arms (temples). It's easy to forget I'm wearing them. Quite a transformation for me ... I treasure them and am soooo careful with them - aware that they are delicate. My first delight of 2023.

Here I shot them to show just how the lens can melt into the background so it is almost invisible, while still doing its job of allowing me to read the poem!

Sometimes glasses can even help guinea pigs to see clear again ! I admit that this special guinea pig is a toy although I think he looks quite real and the glasses suit him better than their original (human) owner. :)

Very old opera glasses.. found a few years ago when sorting through my late mother-in-law's collections.

Which glasses should I choose for Smile on Saturday's "optical instruments" theme?

My first glasses I still have, or my last?

My most beautiful, or the ugliest?

The one I wanted sooo badly, that model that only fit me temporarily.

Or just the one with the failed glasses that I hardly ever wore.

They're all there, and more, and also the one we don't want to talk about because it has to do with the decline.

I just lumped them all together. Yes, also my good glasses I'm never that careful with my glasses.

And there it is, prominently in the foreground. My father's glasses. Last worn July 4, 1987. Carefully preserved by my mother all these years. Now that she has also passed away, I took the glasses with me before they were thrown away and I will keep them.

As I write this I wonder, why don't I have mother's glasses?

Looking backwards through binoculars at two women looking through binoculars... I think they are birdwatchers.

Mine helps me so much reading some small print.

My attempt at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "optical instruments".

Shot with a Mamiya "Sekor CU 65 mm F 5.6" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Okay I got it. Hand wash cold water, mild detergent. Pat dry. Smile on Saturday theme, optical instruments. This is my WILD microscope. From when I used to photograph circuit boards looking for micro fractures. Something to smile about. the old photographer ,;-)

Actually, I had no time today but while shopping I passed these make-up glasses. I had never seen anything like this, so change of plans and yet quickly made a photo. Have a great weekend!

OPTICAL INSTRUMENTS for Smile on Saturday

For the Smile on Saturday theme of optical instruments.. I tend to use the macro-clip on lens the most (bet tha doesn’t surprise anyone who knows me). I’m not sure I’ve ever actually used the fish-eye clip-on lens and kept the pictures.
