Shot with the fisheye. If I were to be there just a day later, the water in the fountain would've been red as per what I saw in the Star yesterday. Missed an oppurtunity.
Fine weather over the South China Sea gave me lots of oppurtunities to practice my cloud-shooting skills :)
Large is nice.
Ther are things That happen in life that were just not ready for, you'll never be ready for. Even if you think your ready face it. So many tines you thought you were going left but you went right, zigged instead of zagged , you wanted up but you went down these strange twists of fate happen to us all. Good reasons or not.things always have a tendency to do what they want to.
Why? Who knows? I guess if we knew we would always be okay. An that'd be great right?
Well no I don't think so
Is the unexpected that makes life interesting, the lows that really define you as a person , the tough times that make you who you are. Those times when your given the oppurtunity to show your "stuff" those are the moments that will test you and shape your future, when your thrust into making difficult decisions the temptation to do what's easiest is always there, and it's usually the first thing we wanna do. But is it the right thing? Usually not. The hard road, the long road is usually the right road. And if you choose that path it'll pay off big time. Real big. And once you get through it you'll see the new side of yourself. It will only make you stronger.
Something happened recently to someone very dear to me and itreally made me think about things about life Andy kessler passed away. I know death is a part of life and it's natural but talk about the unexpected, he got stung by a wasp, had an allergic reaction and that was it. He probably didn't even think twice about it. I mean one time he broke his hip skating in a bowl and I think he was more mad about them having to carry him out of the bowl than he was about breaking his hip. He was a tough old goat, very opinionated and believe me he would let you know how he thought about things. You could ways count on Andy telling you how it was. He was a good guy with a great heart. He was all heart but unfortunately for him and for all of us his life was cut short. At andys funeral when I was listening to friends and family speak about him it was good to hear that he'd left this earth with no
Baggage he made all his ammends in life he helped so many people in so many ways from building skateparks in NYC to helping people get sober. He had down times and he went through some rough things but when he left us he was on the upswing of his life. I think he left with a smile on his face. Knowing he did good for everyone around him. I hope I get to leave like that when I go I wanna think I made the right choices and did right by people, no baggage no stress no stones left unturned. I wish I could have spoken with him one last time though just one more conversation, one more joke one more something.
My point?
Maybe it's that nothing is certain out there. But what can you count on? Who can you count on? You can always rely on yourself.
There's this old hardcore band from NYC called the cro mags and on there first album age of quarrel, there's a line: " you come into this world with nothing but yourself/ you leave this world with nothing but yourself" you can walk through life taking the easy road, screwing the world over, stepping on everyone who gets in your way. But you can't bullshit yourself either. We all know who we really are, we all know the good and bad we do on a daily basis.
So when you reflect on life what can you say? How do you live? Do you help people for the sake of helping them or do you expect something in return? Life challenges us everyday, we all have to confront obstacles we all have great oppurtunitys to show what we have to give to the world. Think about it, when it hits the fan and were forced to make decisions, if everyone chose to do the right thing the world would be such a great place, a better place,
A rising tide raises all ships it's never to late to start making ammends, it's never to late it's never to late to start taking the difficult road, it's never to late. Never.

I got this photograph during our first sunrise photoshoot with my best friend Alner_s. The owner of this big bike is busy jogging and I take the oppurtunity to take a picture of his bike while he is watching me. Me and Alner were about to leave this place for a breakfast.
Hindley is a town in Wigan, around three miles east of Wigan Town Centre. Hindley alone is one of many areas within Greater Manchester I would love to live in given the oppurtunity.

Filipino Academy for Movie Arts and Sciences (F.A.M.A.S) awards night. This is one of the prestigious events I attended. Star-studded. Elite. Rewarding. Last year, I became a member of this organization thru Manila Bulletin, and given an oppurtunity for reviewing Filipino movies. It's fun. It's an honor to be a part of FAMAS. I was with star Glaiza de Castro and friend Ayeen. FAMAS is the Philippine counterpart of OSCAR's and Academy Awards in the U.S. It is the oldest award-giving body and a rare gem in the Philippine society. Viva FAMAS!

On our first night in Iguazu we had the oppurtunity to take a "full moon tour" in the park. It is only offered 5 nights a month and only if the weather permits. So we jumped at the chance to be one of about 200 people allowed on this tour.
We road the train out to the Falls in the middle of the jungle. Animals where everywhere. 80% of the butterflies in the jungle are nocturnal. It was unreal. Then we walked about a mile out to Garganta del Diablo (the Devil's Throat). All the vital details of the Fall are in my next photo description. And I posted a video too because photos don't do this place justice.
It was an unreal experience. It makes Niagra look like a trickle. It was really really dark....my long exposure lightened this up quite a bit. The best part is on the horizon in the back of this shot there was a lightning storm firing off non-stop. You can see the front/clouds going by. Definitely a top 10 moment in my life.
After each kid who wanted to ride the elephants had an oppurtunity, everyone was looking forward to freshening up and having a sip of water before lunch. Some were alittle bit too anxious it appears :)

i went for a simpler edit fro this image in look anyway still had over 10 groups with 2 layers a group when i was finished :/ i wanted to replicate the popular filmic look used in most adverstising in the uk around summer time i used a crop based on the golden ratio focused on the left eye as i think the closer look helps create an image with a more personal connection and adds a slight more layer of depth when combined with a filter that blurs the background speaking of the background i used a graded nd filter to darken the right side of the image as i belived it was to light and distracted from the subject slightly thanks for the oppurtunity to edit this file its kind of making me consider buying a xpro 1 all i need to see know is a decent studio portrait that i could edit and id be pretty much sold. side note i hope this get viewed on a calibrated monitor the way it was intended

School and court house. Dated 1661, but this is misleading; building probably late C16. Ham stone ashlar facade, squared rubble to sides with ashlar dressings; plain clay tile roof between stepped coped gables; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys with attic, 8 bays irregular fenestration. Hollow chamfer mullioned windows with 4-centre arched lights, carver spandrils under flat arches without labels, all 2-light above and lower bays 1 and 2, this last set lower; 3-light windows to lower bays 3, 6, 7 and 8; all lower windows diamond leaded: to lower bay 4 a false 3-centred arch doorway without label, with a large stone panel over bearing the arms of William Strode of Barrington (who acquired part of Martock manor in 1637), and the legend "SCHOLA TRILINGUIS DEUS TRIN/UNI DEO GLORIA MARTOCK/ NEGLECT NOT THY OPPURTUNITIES/FUNDATA ANNO DOMMINI 1661". In the south gable a 2-light window with label at ground floor level: in north gable similar' windows at first floor and attic levels, also a first floor doorway approached by stone stairs with solid balustrade, probably C19, replacing in earlier stair going in opposite direction. In rear elevation a near-triangular arched doorway with 2-light ,mullioned window over, then projecting stair turret with small stair lights, also a C19 red brick extension; another mullioned window uncovered during works in June 1985. Inside the ground floor layout altered: the north room has a chamfered cambered arched fireplace and a 9-panel ceiling with deep moulded beams; the south partition a plank and muntin partition from elsewhere replacing one removed in 1970s; the next room has deep chamfer beams with step and runout stops, and a C18 beaded surround fireplace in the front wall; traces of other plank and muntin partition and a wide fireplace in the south gable with chamfered timber cross beam, adapted in later C20. In rear turret a stone newel stair, with 4-centre arched doorway to landing: first floor has the former courtroom at north end (undergoing restoration June 1985) with graffiti in window reveals including some of pre 1661; in north gable, two 4-centred arched doorways, one to outside and one to attic stair: roof of arched collar roof trusses, without windbraces, with an unusual scarfed joint to ends of collars of C16 rafter than C17 type. The building referred to as the court house when the school was refounded in 1661-2, but an earlier school was set up in Martock in 1636 by Thomas Farnabie, celebrated educationalist, and on the evidence of the graffiti must have been here: by 1644 the "parish house" and "school house" were synonymous. The school closed for a while in 1820 but re-endowed in 1832 only to close in 1860: in the meantime it is said to have doubled as a poor house. It was purchased by the parish as the church House in 1872, was used for a while to house a branch of the County Library, and was sold as a private house in 1975. EH Listing

So there were a ton of official Decatur Beer Festival Volunteers around in red shirts to work the tables.
Basically, our job was to watch the taps on the back of the beer truck for "oppurtunity tappers." See, there are a million people at these things. So you have to get a beer from the table, otherwise these people sneaking a pull could insite complete chaos. Also, everyone was drunk by 2:00pm. (It started at 12:00!) And they are more than willing to "negotiate" with you to get a quick refill. But you can make to exceptions.
I kept apologizing for having to be the "Cop." But, as I told many a drunken oppurtunity tapper, the very balance of order versus chaos was at stake here, I was not prepared to take responsibility for throwing that delacate clockwork out of wack. That usually seemed to work.
Name: Deacon Sayasia
Age: 24
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 173 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Green
Race: Human
Job: Captain
Settings: Modern/Fantasy/Medieval
About him:
He was born to a what most saw as a fitting family that would be able to support a child but shortly after his birth his mother began to take on more work trying to make ends meet for the family and ended up spending very little to no time with her newborn son leaving him to rely on his father. His father was a useless man after the birth of the bouncing baby boy and continued his work as well but eventually began to drown his wallows in alchol.
He spent most of his childhood alone but this gave him ampile oppurtunities to go out and explore the town that they resided in which he soon found out to be a suburb of a great kingdom and would make his way to the knight training facilites on a daily basis to watch the men train. This gave him the idea to return home and practice what it was that had been trained for the day. He started this at the ripe age of 5.
After the years had passed his mother passed away from an incurable illness and his father continued to drown his sorrows away in alchol but Deacon had had enough of it and challenged his old man to a duel at the age of 15 and came out victorous rather quickly having his father at the tip of his sword he demanded that he went back into smithing and his father did just that even bringing home some of the tricks of the trade.
For the next 2 years his father had taught him everything he needed to know about smithing weaponry and armor but he did not let all this stop his regular routine of visiting the training facilities and learning from them everyday in fact one day he was caught and brought in. He was to be killed by the trainer but he seemed to match the trainer move for move and that was his ticket in. From then on he was a special pupil to the trainer.
Finally when the training was completely he was confident that he could take on the world and he started off small challenging his trainer to a duel. The fight seemed to ensue for what seemed like hours to them only lasted minutes in real life disarming his insructor and finally putting a sword to the instructors neck and demanded that he be placed into the Knighthood. A few strings were pulled and proving his worth to everyone that asked it of him he was placed into officer training immediately and quickly made a name for himself over the next couple of years.
He now commands his own section of troops but rarely seems to need them anymore as he would train everyday to become faster and stronger as he slide into the armies clutchies becoming the officer he is today.
Quirks:
He has the ability to repair any weapon or armor that is placed before him, he has his own troops to command but rarely takes that job seriously letting subordinates take control having faith ...-
Taken at the start of the womens tour 2014 in Oundle, Unfortunatley (or fortunatly dependant of your view point) I got stuck in a traffic jam due to the rolling road closures for 20min, so took the oppurtunity to grab the camera and get some shots as they passed by
It's pouring it down outside so I'm taking the oppurtunity to do some clothes washing. It's extortionate. £3 for a wash and dry not including detergent etc.
Takes about and hour and will probably shrink everything (seriously the last thing I need) and turn all my white t shirts pink.
I'll do some journal Rreading while I wait.
Nb. Taken on iPhone, processed using millcolour's bleached setting and uploaded and geotagged with Flickit.
A fantastic opportunity arose recently when I located a drinking hole for a small group of crossbills! They came down twice within the space of an hour (they are very thirsty birds due to their diet of extremely dry pinecones!) and offered wonderful photographic oppurtunities. I returned to the area this morning but unfortunately they failed to return, though they were still in the area.
This will probably be my last new image for a while, as my revision begins tomorrow in preparation for my AS exams in May and June!
A cool sunny mid-day last Monday 4/5, I was with my 8 year old daughter outside and mother's instinct took over me. I told her we will both take a walk and side by side we stroll with no particular place in mind. I said, "Mommie wants to take some pictures somewhere..." and my daughter reluctantly agreed... I was expecting the usual sceneries of white sakuras amidst the busy city where I live in...
Out of nowhere, these rare pink flowers greeted me... I said its "rare" because its not as abundant as the white sakura. These are another breed of sakura, I supposed.
A few days from now, these blossoms will say goodbye to me... glad I found these one before its totally gone.
I just dont know why Im so over enthusiastic about sakura, that made me want to go to the parks almost everyday. I secretly cursed @#&%!!! when it rained every now and then, limiting my hanami (flower viewing) mood, while wishing that nature wouldnt destroy another work of nature...
Sakura and its 3 weeks lifespan... will have to say goodbye to them in a few days. Another year of hanami is over. Thanks for the oppurtunity to be able to view them this year. *sigh*
Beautiful twin female at St-Felicien Zoo. She is the dominant one and was asking her sister Frima to give her what she had found.
I didn't wanted one of those classic shot of polar bear, i wanted something else, since i have other very pretty that you can see all bit of this beauty. I thought i had an oppurtunity when she went a little angry at her sister who was on the level below ready to jump at her.
Une des deux jumelles au Zoo de St-Félicien. C'est la dominante et elle demande a sa soeur Frima de lui donner ce qu'elle a trouvé.
I snapped this 3 exposure HDR (-2, 0, +2) the other day after it had snowed a little, and some of the snow I think was stuck in those clouds. But with that blue sky wedged in between the dark clouds, I knew this was a perfect oppurtunity for an HDR shot.
Finally on top of the Duomo (after scaling 492 steps and a whole lot of out of breath tourists) you are offered a stunning view of Florence. Obviously an oppurtunity to shoot an obscene amount of pictures, I thought i'd share this one with you to give an idea. I might post a few more at a later stage.
In this view we are looking upon the Piazza di San Giovanni and we can see a glimpse of the Battistero. In the foreground of course Giotto's bell tower and even closer we can see the edge of the dome.
And far in the distance the passing hail cloud!
I got a pass to Early Man through XRT and the Space Bus. My friend TODD! (aka Sexual Harassment Leprechaun) heads up the Space Bus team and I was one of his assistants. Such an amazingly empty playa that early pre-event. Just dust and roads and the DPW. It was quiet and still and gorgeous. Not sure I'll go out that early again (sixteen days is a long time to be on playa) but I'm glad I got the oppurtunity to go this year.
The camp was some what empty providing us with the oppurtunity to pick our tent. We looked around and picked a stylish tent with a view and some ambient light.

Part of the 'Wonderlijke Klim' exhibition. The 'wondrous climb' gives visitors what might be a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to see the 96 unique sculptures on the flying butresses of the Sint Janskathedraal in (saint John's cathedral) in 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch). The Sint Jan is only one of four cathedrals in the world to have such sculptures. Instead of saints or angels, they depict monsters and common city people, from the architects and masons who worked on the cathedral, to beggars and musicians.
The 'wonderlijke klim' exhibition coincides with the grand Jheronymous Bosch exhibition at the Noord-Brabants Museum in Den Bosch, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the painter's death. Like the paintings of Bosch, the sculptures on the cathedral butresses are from the late middle ages, and depict monsters and common folk, which was a new theme in art at that time. Art from the early and high middle ages often depicted saints, angels and biblical scenes, but certainly not the common workfolk or even beggars. To have them adorning the outside of the cathedral no less, is very unique, and something that could only have been concieved in that particular time and place. Apparently, Jheronymous Bosch personally knew the artist very well who designed these sculptures.

December 4, 2010. Finally went outside today. Flu isn't that bad anymore.
It's cold outside. Really cold. And snowy. But that means I had the oppurtunity to take a lot of pictures of snow and snowflakes.
But my picture today is one I made while going shopping. Christmas shopping! Actually, I was shopping for christmas stuff for another holiday: Saint Nicholas Eve! (or in Dutch: Sinterklaas)
'Sinterklaas' is a Dutch holiday, celebrated on the 5th of December. On that day, we exchange gifts. More info on wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas.
