Bhakti Summer Sangha 2016
The second year of the Bhakti Summer Sangha was a great success, as it gave an oppurtunity to the younger generations to explore spirituality and practice activities such as meditation, kirtan, satsang, seva, and much more among their own peers.
The Summer Sangha has a schedule built around the 9 forms of Bhakti, so that each day the kids and young adults a taste of each of the forms of devotion. The participants are getting a chance to participate in workshops on music, on meditation, and throughout everything, on building a deeper and sweeter relationship to God - in the Guru, in His many many avatars, in the people, and especially within themselves.

I was walking around New York City late one night when I came across a couple of skateboarders doing some tricks. I had been wanting to try some night portraits of strangers and I thought that this was a great oppurtunity. I approached these two, explained that I was doing a street/stranger portrait project and they said "uh, ok. why not." I took two shots of each, said "thanks dude" and was one my way. They were skateboarding right in the middle of Colombus Circle and I loved their chill vibe in contrast to the crazy atmosphere of New York. Thanks Guys

The concept of Explore is not to be taken seriously but seeing one's work make it to the list is gratifying nonetheless.. I have 25 images that have been Explored so far and thats a compatible number for a mosaic so I guess the time was ripe to showcase this upload!
I would like to take this oppurtunity to personally thank Each and every one of You who has come across my photostream, and enjoyed my work – Medical related and otherwise.. I know there are certain people who follow my stream on a daily basis; To You I promise that you shall have a lot more to see, more often.. real soon.
Initially I joined a lot of groups and added a lot of pictures only to be dismayed by the fact that my copyright had been violated and the images were being used on other streams / websites without my knowledge or prior consent. I was not aware that once an image belongs to a group it can be copied just like an unprotected image. It loses the transparent layer 'Spaceball.gif' overlayed to protect it. I know anything on the internet can be copied but this just makes the job easier.
This would perhaps explain the decline in the number of pictures that have been Explored as fewer people get to see them, comment on them, fave them n so on.. And I believe I have been missing out on some of the best Flickr has to offer for the same reason.
After 2 hard drive failures (Yes - I faced the ominous Mac's Blue screen of death) and losing photo shoots in the bargain I have decided that henceforth I am going to try and upload complete Sets (and make Collections) once in a while instead of individual photographs.. this would, in the process, bring together images I really want to treasure in the long run AND You would have a chance to look at the genre of images that You fancy!

My first attempt at astrophotography. Over the last few nights earth has been passing through the tail of comet Temple-Tuttle & this has resulted in leonid meteor showers. Last night was the first clear night and oppurtunity for me to give this a whirl.
All shots are 9 - 15 minute exposures, with an aperature of 4-5.6 & ISO of no more than 500.Next time I will try the stacking technique - I'm not too happy with the noise.
I didn't capture a meteor, in fact I only saw 4 in two hours. Early Tuesday morning is exepcted to produce another batch of bright meteors. I think I'll head out for that, this time with a blanket & a falsk of hot hot hot coffee!!

Today was one of my schoolmate wedding. His wedding was done in Batu Caves hall. I took this oppurtunity to test out my 50mm f1.8 lens that I bought yesterday.

Sometimes we have to make the decision to pull the trigger or walk away from an oppurtunity when it presents itself; today was one of those days. I heard a small dog barking while walking the isthmus during the annual "Ride the Drive" event, when I turned around I saw a little white dog stretching its leash to the limit. My decision was simple, point and snap a frame of this little yet active pup or just walk it off. When I saw out of the corner of my eye, another dog walking across the lawn! No wonder little whitey was so excited, he had a friend! I clicked one frame and went on my way, nothing creepy about that right?

Went down to Sub 89 in Reading to photograph my friends in We Caught the Castle and got the oppurtunity to shoot Don Broco again.
First time in the venue and its proper nice, Don Broco smashed it and were great lads to shoot once again.

Shut all the lights off at the villa put the camera down on the longest shutter speed (only 30 seconds wish the nex-3n had longer) and took this it's amazing and the camera only caught about half of the stars we could actually see was amazing! wish I had a longer shutter speed. Oh and there was a meteor shower aswell so that was amazing to watch.Too much noise need to get the settings right next time now I found out how to increase the shutter speed, just got to wait for the nex oppurtunity. Could do with a better camera aswell.
The Saint Anne Chapel in the village Herpen, Noord-Brabant, the Netherlands.
Saint Anne is also the patroness of the hamlet De Koolwijk, a few miles away from Herpen. De Koolwijk also has a Saint Anne chapel. See the picture in my Photostream, or click one of the related tags on the right to find that picture. The chapel in De Koolwijk is somewhat bigger and has the size of a small church, which is actually used to hold weekly masses as of 2014.
This is a so-called 'veldkapel' (field chapel) or 'holy house' (Dutch: heilig huisje); a small religious building that is not exactly a church, but that is dedicated to a specific saint. The saint, and by extension the capel dedicated to it, are regarded as a patron/patroness protecting a village from harm. These chapels were also used as oppurtunities for roadside prayer.
The text on the plaquette reads:
"This holy house is decated to Saint Anne, the mother of Maria and the grandmother of Jesus. Saint Anne is the patroness of miners, cabinet makers, wood turners, tailors and seamstresses. Because she became a mother at an old age, she is also the protector of infertiles en patroness of pregnant women.
Saint Anne is also the patroness of the Chapel at De Koolwijk. Her day is the 26th of july, which is celebrated grandly at De Koolwijk, each year on the first sunday after that date.
This holy house was rebuilt by the foundation 'Herpen in word and image', after a historic example (dating before 1750) close to where it used to be located, which is along the old north road from Berghem through Herpen and to Ravenstein.
Holy houses used to be built not just to protect a town against 'bad influences' from the outside, but also as a place for prayer along the roads.
In addition, there are three lime [linden] trees, which is in accordance with the history of this place. [Linden] trees are found all around where people live together and shared joys and sorrows.
This holy house was blessed on september 22th, 2002."

Sixteen Year 9 girls from 13 Hampshire schools undertook a residential work experience programme from the 16-20 February 2009 on HMS Bristol. The girls and three staff from the Women in Science and Engineering campaign visited HMS Sultan on the 17 and 19 February 2009. The aim of the visit was for the girls to have an oppurtunity for practical experience in engineering and to meet female engineer role models. This visit also aimed to increase the girls interest in engineering and inspire them to take engineering up as a career.

There are sometimes when u really wish that life could be a bit more forgiving, maybe offer u a reset button, when u can correct every mistake you made, ever oppurtunity you missed, cheer up that person u always wanted to...This pic makes me wonder all these, Wish I had a reset button.... or atleast pause button....

This is on the southbound section of the M6, we came this way after accidentally missing Junction 19 (the Chester Road turn-off) and siezed the oppurtunity!
It's mostly the Beetham Tower, Salford and the Pennines that are visible but if anyone notices any more known Manchester landmarks, feel free to point them out.

This little graffitied alleyway caught my eye on a recent afternoon stroll down one of St Kilda's more trendy cafe districts. Awhile ago I discovered some truly inspirational street photography from Japan based photographer Alfie Goodrich and so I decided to use my next oppurtunity to attempt some street photography of my own!
The original image didn't really stand out that much. I did initially process the image as a single HDR image. After that I ran it through Phototools to boost colour and then convert it into Black & White. The result was an image I think was much stronger than the original.

Woodhead Brothers are a very well known cattle haulier from Colne in East Lancashire and have a terrific fleet of immaculate trucks such as this Volvo FH12 and triple deck cattle trailer YJ06FWA seen flying down the A1 in South Yorkshire.
Less well known is that the company is now owned by Morrisons
