Just to let people know that on Thursday 15th August there will be a training exercise held outside the ICC in Birmingham town centre.
One was held in Leeds last year. Photos from the exercise are available on my photostream here. . . . www.flickr.com/photos/44472650@N08/sets/72157629610801539... just to put you in the picture on what might be involved. To keep the exercise as real as possible no details as to what the excercise will involve will be released until on the day.
It will involve ALL of the emergency services so should be a good oppurtunity to add to your collection of emergency vehicles
some times you just have so many great oppurtunities for photos, today was one of those days. I have at least 10 great shots from a quick 30 minutes of shooting
(taken at Sagamore Hill)
Just arrived home safe from a speedy visit to Bristol, UK.
Went to see the Banksy show together with www.flickr.com/photos/rrrr030/ and made use of the oppurtunity to leave some sticky stuff.
And for the total ticketprice of 30 euro's, it might be a good idea to visit it again.
And again.
And again.
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way that you act toward outsiders; make the most of every oppurtunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer to everyone.
February 22nd, 2009
Today was a really good day. I woke up and was in a super mood because last night was awesome (Description to come in a later picture). So, I got up around 6:50ish and went ahead and showered. I showered, blow-dried my hair, got dressed, straightened my hair, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, checked facebook, flickr, blogger, etc. And lots more stuff. By the time I was finished, it was about time for church. So, I went to church. And Nathan said that people were coming over to his house, and he wanted to know if I wanted to come too. And so, talked to my parents, and they said it was fine. And then Lou made Nathan come and sit by me. And I kinda liked it. :P
Then, went to his house, and we just hung out. We ate pizza, I watched him play basketball, golf, and a bunch of other stuff. It was really nice out today. I liked it. Then we watched Master and Commander, and I almost fell asleep. hah.
ANNNDDD--yeah. It was awesome. Anything with him is a good time, really.
Came home, ate some chocolate cake, did my homework, took my picture. And now I'm here. It's a stellar day. :D
And I never get pictures with Nathan. darnit!
Ryan wrote a blog, and it really kinda made me think. I plan to call him tomorrow...and have a long serious talk about everything.........it's about time I do something....
I took this shot at a local gallery/fashion show which was held at Center City Galleries in my hometown of Paterson, NJ. Its one of my favorite shots of the night, the girl in the picture loved it and now many other photogs and models have viewed it on Facebook.
I was invited to display 5 of my images at the gallery on Saturday night where the fashion show was being held. Out of the five pieces I displayed on the wall, I actually sold two! It was a great night meeting and networking with other artist, photographers, and models. I printed out a bunch of my best shots on 5x7's which included my name & contact info to pass out to those who I mingled with during the night. I also had a chance to shoot a few models using studio lighting. The whole gallery experience along with the networking was the best thing I could have done for myself, walking away with new contacts was worth more than I can imagine. I now have a studio I can visit, and a handful of new model contacts to use in future shoots. I cant wait for the next oppurtunity, I look foward to making a habit out of going to galleries in the future even if its just for the purpose of networking.
Here is a series of shots I took on Saturday
ROAD TRIP
I have been to Mexico many times. I have been there for business to places like Mexico City, Monterrey a Torreon. I have been to border towns Nogales, Tiajuana, and Juarez.
I love Mexico. I always wanted to share it with my kids. I wanted to go to a place with out tourists and I wanted the freedom to drive. I wanted to be on my own schedule. I didn't want the typical Mexican vacation with cowds of drunk Norte Americanos and kitschy souveniers.
I had always wanted to drive my own car and take my children for a foreign experience.
San Carlos Sonora was the perfect place. It took 17 hours to drive from Salt Lake. This was really not too bad. It takes just as long to drive to the place where I grew up in Northwest Washington. The trip down was gorgeous great weather. Not too hot. Beautiful views of State and National Parks. Great Sunrises and Sunsets.
San Carlos was amazing. I think it may have been off season, because there were absoulutely no crowds. It was still warm enough for swimming in the sea and in the out door pool.
I have many adventures for work. I travel all over the world. This was my oppurtunity to give my two little kids a taste of that same adventure. Parts of it were hard. That increased the adventure was all. To instil in them the sense that we could plan and then accomplish something that not many people get to do is an invaluable gift that I can pass on.
I plan to do this again. It will leave an indelible impression on these two little kids.
Still some photo's of last years weekend trip to Cologne. As you can see the sun was out (christmas period) and gave me the oppurtunity to shoot some great pictures of this amazing church.
For previous backstory before the Liberation of Bakura click here.
Unlike many of his brothers, Lit's view on the war hadn't changed much after the Liberation of Bakura. It was still just a war, which it was his job to fight in, Nothing more. Having lost contact with his Sniper skill whilst on Bakura and Bal'demnic, Rhen Var was an oppurtunity. To have fun.
"Comedy is the only way we stay sane whilst at work CT-1126
"Rhen Var would be our hardest mission yet, but I have no plans to change my troopers armour. They can seal their suits and fight as one to keep warm. Cold assault gear is for Bathas. My pride and joy, Bertha is still with me as we continue to obliterate those fucking clankers.
I feel that the Republic is screwing me over, My request for a Macrobinocular visor has not shipped yet and I need it for this mission and I could't gain an extra Precision Rifle, Oh well. Two guns will be enough for me.
See you on the battlefield"
If the oppurtunity ever arises to visit Bodnant Gardens in North Wales then take it,the place is stunning
for Jake's, build me up project. this is basically just to let everyone know there's always someone there to help if your struggling with anything. anyone upset, alone, depressed can always have someone to talk to.an oppurtunity for the flickr community to come together to help others in need. it's a fantastic idea, join the group :)
This is what happens when banana pepper juice spills all over the fridge. lol.
Everything had to be taken out and cleanded. And a photo oppurtunity appeared!!
Here is my sisters version!
Back to school today.
Yuck!!
Have a nice Monday. ☺
Martin mentioned that he was going to be around taking photos, so I thought it would be a great oppurtunity to meetup with him and do some long exposures of the newly opened Wheel of Excellence. Not realising that it was the first night it was in full operation we headed to a very cold Waterfront to see if we could interesting angles on this 50m tall temporary structure.

My daughter is doing the book Gruffalo at school at the moment so we went for a walk in the woods to look for him.
We didn't find the gruffalo but the walk gave me an oppurtunity to try out my new Yongnuo RF-602 off camera flash trigger and reciever.
I took a few shots first changing the exposure by underexposing a full stop to darken the background.
I got out my sb600 with a reciever attached and put the trigger on the hotshoe of my D300s which was mounted on my manfrotto tripod.
I zoomed the flash in to around 70mm to narrow the beam to focus the light on my daughter and leave the surroundings unaffected.
The power of the flash was aorund 1/2 power.
I flired the shutter via cable release by standing to the left of the camera with the sb600 held even further to my side.
I asked my daughter to face away from me then look back at the camera to try and add a little mood and suspense.
I converted to mono then added a vignette to draw your eye into the centre then finished off with an 's' curve and a little unsharp mask.

Thankyou for all your comments, favs and views whilst I have been away lately due to work commitments.
Press 'L' on your keyboard for the full forest spooky experience on black.
I shot quite a few frames of the Andaman Islands prior to landing. A sheet of clouds was inbetween my camera and the picturesque landscape. However, I grabbed every oppurtunity the clear weather provided me to capture a glimpse of this place from up above. It was worth every bit of it.
This car is amazing! I've been waiting so long to find one on the streets! This would be my second MkII GT3 RS, a month after I took this I found out the owner was selling it to Midwest Motors Inc (Where I'll be working soon :) and I had the oppurtunity to sit and rev it, along with a McLaren! Such an awesome experience! And I was going to say it was for sale but I just checked the website and apparently its been sold:

Heres a video of it:
Brighton High School Vs. Lone Peak High School in 5 A Volleyball Championship.
Brighton went on to win the series
Volleyball is one of those sports you don't really have to shoot the whole match to get highlights, so it gave me an oppurtunity to shoot some photos until i had to pick up the video camera
The alarm on my iPhone went off at 4AM, the sun was due to rise some time between 5 and 6 but we hadn't scouted the location as we arrived late last night and it was too dark to go and look for good vantage points. Our camera gear was packed and ready, so Scott and I jumped in the hire car and went in search of "Sunset Point". Yes, you read right, we went to look for photography oppurtunities at 4AM in the morning, at SUNSET point.
I think we were on the coast of Lake Erie, in this odd little carnival town, the name of which I'll try to recall later. Between the motel and the shore was a national park which we assumed was going to be a straight drive, however when we got to the front gates it was closed to visitors. We gave it about five minutes thought, weighing the pros and cons and how illegal it would be to trespass before deciding to mount the kerb and drive through the forest to get around the huge locked gate.
So we were on our way. The peninsula was about 5 miles in length and it wasn't long before we had reached the most Northerly beach. I took the 4x4 straight through the carpark and up on to the dunes rather than getting out like any sensible person would do. Scott suggested that we drop down a level and get closer to the shore. The sky was still dark and we were motoring along. About half a mile along the beach we decided to turn back and look in the other direction. I pulled to a stop and started to turn.
*whiiirrrrrr*
The car had stopped moving although my pedal was on the gas, we were wheel spinning in the sand. Keeping my calm, I got out and checked the front wheels which where a good foot lower than the back wheels. I got back in the try a little more power -You know the story from here on, it just gets worse and worse.
We were stuck, on a beach we didn't know, at five AM, after breaking into a national park, looking for a sunrise at sunset point. It may be funny now, but back then when it was happening we were panicking.
There was no way we were leaving our camera equipment in the car while went in search of help. I headed for the road with Scott, bags and tripods on our backs. In the distance I saw car headlights so sprinted towards them through this thick beach vegetation over several dunes. Out of breath and tumbling down the embankment to the road I just made it before the car passed. All of a sudden the full beams were flicked on and blue lights started flashing away, while I was stood in the middle of the road, panting like I'd just ran from something. Out of the car got a man with a gun on his belt, I was petrified and immediately confessed the whole story of what had happened and told him my friend was on the beach still. I expected Scott to appear, but nothing.
The man I stopped was a park ranger, obviously he would be the only person driving round a closed park at 5AM. Luckily for me took pity in our stupidity and decided to help. When Scott eventually appeared he seemed surprised to see me talking to the ranger rather than handcuffed with my face squashed on the bonnet. After a brief discussion over the phone with a few tow truck companies, the ranger decided to take us back to the base to meet the rest of his team, hopefully for some help.
As you can see from the pictures above and below, we did eventually get pulled from the sand and were able to go home, but empty handed as far as sunrise pictures are concerned.
A conversation Scott and I had over breakfast later on...
Sam: "It didn't have a sign that said no driving on the beach"
Scott: "My tripod doesn't have a sign that says don't eat it"
Sam: "Well it's not illegal to eat your tripod, just f*****g stupid"
Scott: "Exactly, Sam"
Say hi to Jim, a real Space Cowboy!
When Jim heard that Rocketeer Enterprises was hiring "Space Cowboys" to mine for the mineral Boryllian deap within Saturn's rings, he lept for the oppurtunity! Quickly promoted to the leader of a three man crew, Jim has fourteen missions under his belt, along with the title of the first person to rear end a spaceship while attempting to parallel park in space.

Arena Castelão (which means Big Castle), a football stadium, in Fortaleza was inaugurated in 1973 and was also one of the venues during the FIFA Worldcup in 2014.
We didn't had the oppurtunity to visit to view the stadium from inside, but the building is really very impressive.
During a business trip this weekend to NYC i took this wonderful picture from a pier in downtown Brooklyn. The sky was just turning awesome after sunset and give me the oppurtunity to shoot some nice night shots of the Financial District. You can see a lot of details on this picture you can see the old harbour in the foreground and behind the big buildings how makes New York.
After another day volunteering on the loco I thought I'd take the oppurtunity to get a photo under the engine shed.
It's quite amazing how the tides either cover or expose certain areas of sandstone depending on the season and the flow direction. Go back to the same area again next week and it could be all change. It's a great oppurtunity to record rock formations not often seen, and highlights my theory that it is important to continually revisit the same areas, for only then do you notice change or recognise something new.
Shot with Kat at the House of Nightmares Group shoot on 11/29/08. It was a blast doing this set in a dark, cold, and dirty basement. If anyone ever has the oppurtunity to work with Kat.... Do NOT pass up the oppurtunity!
Shot with a Nikon D300, 17 - 200 MM VR lens and a SB800 flash. I used 2 Britek 1500 watt strobes (1 behind an umbrella diffuser and the other as a main with umbrella) to balance out some light in this dark warehouse basement.
My last day in New York and my last photo taken...funny, as it turned out to be my favorite photo of my trip. As I left Harlem, it was a Sunday and I was blown away by seeing the streets painted beautifully with so many people proudly wearing thier "Sunday's best". Men in three peice suits, tuxedos & top hats, and woman in vibrant coloured dresses and decorative hats. Although I'm pretty shy about asking to take people's photos (I especially avoided taking photos of the public in Harlem...although there were so many wonderful photo oppurtunities & amazing subjects, I didn't want to risk offending someone.) I just had to take a photo of these three ladies. I approached them by telling them how beautiful they looked. The two older ladies in the front were quite reserved/cold at first, not understanding why I approached them. When I told them I wasn't from there and asked to take thier photo for a personal memory, they were quite apprehensive. But the younger woman (at the back), kindly explained to her mother (front left) and soon enough they were all smiles and chatting away. The woman at the back was from Florida but was visiting her mom in Harlem, where she was born and raised. The lady in black was very happy to tell me that she was in her 80's and that she has been bestfriends with the woman beside her & has been attending the same church, all her life.

my little girl just turned 5 today. I cannot believe how fast time flies!. I already gave up hope of having a child, but God really do work in mysterious ways. She came into our lives unexpectedly. And I am very thankful and blessed because I was given the oppurtunity to be a mom. Happy Birthday to you my Kulit. Mommy and Daddy loves you so much
Testing Canon 100-400 mm IS lens; my first purchase for this year and I am quite happy with the results. I have heard a lot about the Softness of this lens, but my copy seems to be very sharp even wide open.
Though couldn't test the lens in different lighting conditions as today it was raining and on my way back got the oppurtunity to take some shots. It is heavy and bulky but of course less than my 400 mm 2.8 L IS.
Quite happy and am sure that in the coming days have a lot to shoot with this lens.

Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima Island in the Hiroshima Prefecture of Japan.
The famous floating torii is one of Japan's most popular tourist attractions. The gate only appears to be floating at high tide; when the tide is low, the gate is surrounded by mud and can be accessed by foot from the island. It is common practice for visitors to place coins in the cracks of the legs of the gate and make a wish.
This photograph was taken on my very short visit to the island, and if i had gotten to make a wish, I would have wished to have the oppurtunity to visit again.

PAGSUNDO
First stop: Paskuhan Village
Along the way
Sixth stop: San Guillermo Church Convent, Bacolor
Mabuti at napakiusapan.
When the sun finally showed its face, the whole place changed from all the colours of the rainbow to black & gold.
Being in the right place at the right time does have its advantages.
The trees in the foreground were just at the right height to take away the intense light from the sun, therefore creating the oppurtunity in capturing the perfect silhouette, not only of the trees but the sun itself..

Rosemary bags my coffee beans for me and we chat. It was quite a few months ago that I noticed she was quite attractive. . . petite and a bit of a sprite.
Rosemary doesn't work everyday, so it was hard to catch her at the times when I had my camera. Finally, I caught her with just my camera and the mounted lens.
10-18mm lens is NOT the ideal portrait lens, but you do with what you got. Monday, I'm going to print up copies for her.
I really admire her fine bone structure. She is such a super nice person and works like she's in high speed all of the time.
Thanks Rosemary for the oppurtunity.. . .
Alright, not an interesting shot at all. But hey look, what the quote says. Okay, this is how I do it for stock (that never sells? :P alright, people do improve.. so). It has been a long time since a posted an image. So here it is, the shoot took abt 15 to 20 munites as far as I remember. Post-processing done in one whole day + 20 minutes for looking at the image wondered if it's worth posting.
But here again, I've got a few good news. Firstly, free from exams, for a month atleast. Secondly, I've a trip booked to Pakistan tomorrow, so it's again a good oppurtunity for me to get some new photos. Thirdly, I've finally upgraded my PhotoGear yesterday, twice this year now!, got the 50mm f1.8 II yesterday (Oh yea! Watch for some bokehs now), so looking forward to using it on the trip. Wish me Luck! :)
Strobist info: A Yongnuo 460 II @ 1/2, bounced of a ceiling.
A former Airborne Express bird, now used as a classroom and tour stop at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. This is located inside the fence at the firestation. This is what a cockpit should look like! My thanks for this great oppurtunity!
Our courthouse in Clark County, Missouri is getting closer to its time at the gallows pole. Just as the 2 men that was publicly hung here a hundred years ago, this buildings awaits it fate. We still don't know the date, but everything is salvaged. The dome is probably still going to be lowered and preserved. I photographed throughout the whole building yesterday and its looking more abandoned. One good thing is that all of the modern ceilings were taken out which has revealed the tall original ceilings. Yesterday we had a record setting temperature of 69 degrees! Old record was 65. Melted most of our snow. It was odd to walk out of the warmth and go down into the jails below and immediately see your breath! I could really kick myself for missing the oppurtunity of photographing inside after the blizzard with a foot and a half of snow blowing through all of those open windows! Well next time.
Many thanks to Sydney21940 who gave me this once in a life time oppurtunity to photograph two kingfishers on the same perch!
Soooooooooooooo, it's time for one, I think. Alrighty. This is my first one ever, but not my last. From here on out I am going Giveaways seasonally. Today is officially the first day of spring, so I am opening a giveaway. Many of you have an idea of how this works, but I would like to go over some things to consider before entering:
1) Any photos with people in them other than myself will require their permission.
2) Choose a photo, and post it in the comments below. Photos I have posted in comments are allowed as well (: I think if you sent the link after clicking the photo should work!
3) I will be posting photos after this which you can choose as well. So if the photo you posted in your comment is different from the one you truly want, don't worry. I'll be personally messaging the winners after they are chosen. I would just like to see what photos people are looking at and such, baha.
4) The give away will be open for a week. March 27th is the last day to enter! I will choose the winners the following day.
5) this will be the only giveaway that all photos posted through March 27 can be chosen. I'm thinking of doing giveaways by season which means that the next giveaway, June 21, will include photos taken only within spring. Does that make sense? If any questions, ask away!
The exception of this print giveaway:
This giveaway you can also choose a photo from my old account, here, as well. So you have the oppurtunity to win two photos, yay! :D
A good thing to know! The colors will be slightly different as a print! Hopefully no one will mind!
I will choose seven winners (: That's a lot! So, there's probably a good chance that you will win since I am terribly inactive and no one watches me, really, lol.
So that's it for now! Good luck, peeps! :D
Film. And almost sooc. The print is slightly darker, so I edited it a wee bit.
Update: The giveaway will run another week because I've been having problems getting the giveaway out there. So on April 3 I will announce the winners! Sorry!
Glennfinnan viaduct, not the best day to visit, the grass around the viaduct was like a swamp, I wanted to walk beyond the viaduct to take a shot of the viaduct with the monument and loch in the background but it was far too wet, lets hope i get another oppurtunity.
My first attempt at astrophotography. Over the last few nights earth has been passing through the tail of comet Temple-Tuttle & this has resulted in leonid meteor showers. Last night was the first clear night and oppurtunity for me to give this a whirl.
All shots are 9 - 15 minute exposures, with an aperature of 4-5.6 & ISO of no more than 500.Next time I will try the stacking technique - I'm not too happy with the noise.
I didn't capture a meteor, in fact I only saw 4 in two hours. Early Tuesday morning is exepcted to produce another batch of bright meteors. I think I'll head out for that, this time with a blanket & a falsk of hot hot hot coffee!!
