Hundreds of people have gathered at Stonehenge to watch the sunrise on the first official day of autumn.
About 250 druids, pagans and visitors were given access to the stones to mark the autumn equinox for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.

This sofa and two armchairs (1987.62.2, .3) are from a set of furniture that also included a daybed, six side chairs, and two additional armchairs. The set was designed by the Bolognese architect Filippo Pelagio Palagi, in 1832. The maker of these sets were Gabriele Capello ((called Il Moncalvo), Italian, 1806–1876). These pieces were used at royal palaces. These furniture pieces are very unique and interesting to say the least. Very different from furniture pieces made today.

"When you really think about it, Open Access is pretty stupid, right?"
I had 15 seconds of think time and no idea what 12 slides would come up in those 3.5 minutes. I attribute some of my win to the three glasses of wine from the open bar at the vendor exhibits, and some to such an easy topic to go on a satirical rant.
This terracotta jar was apparently restored at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Then, it was transferred to the Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 171. The accession number is 11.186.10 and is considered, according to the website, a terracotta medium/Kamares ware.

According to the MET, the Water-Moon Avalokiteshvara was a popular deity who protected travelers and helped prevent diseases. The scroll, made in the 14th century, depicts the bodhisattva sitting on rocks by the sea, a traveler at his feet. The scroll, made during the Goryeo dynasty (918–1392), was 72 × 29 3/8 in. including the knobs to hold it up, while the image itself was 40 1/2 × 20 3/8 in. The scroll was intended to be hanging, with the medium being silk, ink, color, and gold adorning it. The credit line is H. O. Havemeyer Collection, Bequest of Mrs. H. O. Havemeyer, 1929 and the access number is 29.100.461. The image can be found here: www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/50360?searchField...
