Aluminium boei, tegenwoordig een zeldzame strandvondst. Kan mij niet heugen wanneer het de laatste keer was dat ik een aluminium boeitje op het strand vond. Inmiddels ben ik zuinig op degene die ik in de loop van de jaren verzameld heb.
Er is een grote verscheidenheid in het patroon op de aluminium boeitjes, van geheel glad tot enkele en meerdere ringen, van Noorse en Engelse makelij.
Een zoektocht op het internet leerde dat deze aluminium fishing floats in Amerika ook als een great decorative piece worden gezien, maar dan mag je daar wel 75 US dollar voor neerleggen.
Ben benieuwd wanneer dat in Nederland gebeurt.
Voor strandjutters is dit al jaren een 'great decorative piece' , maar dat idee moet natuurlijk eerst door een binnenhuisarchitect à la Bouvrie gejat worden om pas echt door de trendvolgers opgepakt te worden.
Ik herinner mij nog goed de eerste keer dat ik een aluminium boei vond. Toen ik op de lagere school zat, ging ik samen met vriendjes naar het strand om te jutten. We vonden toen geregeld kurken drijvers in de vloedlijn, en waren daar al erg blij mee. Een enkele keer een roestig ijzeren boeitje, maar nooit een aluminium boei. Dat waren de vondsten waar we op zaten te azen.
Topvondst was natuurlijk een reddingsband, maar van deze kwamen we een enkele keer een gebroken, gemaakt van kurk tegen.
In die tijd ging ik ook vaak met mijn oom Idzard Vonk op de brommer mee naar de Vliehors.
Hij zocht en vond op de Vliehors stenen werktuigen uit de prehistorie en ik vermaakte mij daar ondertussen ook.
Op een dag zag ik een aluminium boeitje liggen tussen de vloedlijn. Er werd gestopt en ik raapte mijn eerste aluminium boeitje op. Als een kind zo blij.
Nu, een 40 jaar later, kan ik nog steeds blij zijn met zo'n vondst. Niet zo euforisch als toen, maar toch.

At this month's Open MAKE: Tools event, visitors were invited to explore their own creativity with our four Featured Makers from around the Bay Area, who shared their art, ingenuity, and techniques.
Guests made needle-felted creatures with Moxie, created three-dimensional shapes by sewing sheets of fabric together with Judy Castro, fused plastic with clothes irons, used sewing needles and conductive thread to make circuits embedded in bracelets and badges, and used motors and other tools to take Light Painting to a whole new level.

With the new addition to the family comes some good and some bad after shooting it i pretty much knew i'd have to get it CLA'd but I may also need the curtains replaced but after shooting the camera i fell in love so guess I'll just have to remain patient and wait for it to be complete....camera is built like a brick but is a cool looking camera and the viewfinder is awesome...this was one of the few that wasnt effected by the cracks in the curtains...

Today was Lothian Buses Doors Open Day 2012. There was a selection of vintage uses as well as a selection of Lothian Buses serving fleet. There were various tours around the depot, you could jump on the Hybrid buses and go through the bus wash. Take a trip on an old LRT vintage bus from 1964 round the depot or take a modern look through the depot using open top buses.
Today was a large improvement from previous years. There were far more buses and lots more to do!

The I.A.W.A' s biggest championship yet! Was organised on 3 mats with wrestlers from clubs around Ireland and the World!

In total contrast to the forward shot, R711 reverses over the Lydiard Street Level Crossing in the heart of Ballarat as it runs around Steamrail's Eureka Express from Melbourne. 24/4/21
The Southern set of gates of the crossing had been destroyed in an accident with a V/Locity in mid-2020, causing the road to be totally blocked off to traffic while a choice was made as to the future of the gates. 11 months later, action was still yet to be taken on the gates, causing protest from locals wishing for both the gates to be retained, but the crossing to be reopened. A small symbol of this was a sign placed on the gates reading "Open Our Road, No Boom Gates".
Since this photo was taken, the gates have since been replaced with traditional level crossing gates, and the road has finally been reopened to traffic.
Moog Slim Phatty Synth Teardown. Green is ground up to the audio IO board. The multi-colored wires are providing different voltages (the largest I saw was +/- 15v). The gray ribbon cable is USB MIDI to the separate USB breakout board.
I dont know what happened to me but my imagination has been so weak for a while. I couldnt come up with any design and I was getting anxious!
My client requested a mum/nurse/ girlie cake, how could I combine all that into a cake? I thought of a box full of nursing stuff and children's toys (well not exatly reality but..) so I decided to make a girlie box with children and nurse stuff in it!
This was a last minute design! I cant even believe that I did all that in 4 hours!
I hope my client is happy with the finished product :)
