This aircraft was delivered to BOC Aviation Leasing and leased to Cathay Pacific Airways as B-KPL in full 'OneWorld' Alliance livery in Oct-09. It was withdrawn from service in late Jun-20 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and initially stored at Hong Kong.

It never returned to service and was moved to Alice Springs, NT, Australia in Oct-20 for long-term storage. The aircraft returned to Hong Kong in Jul-21 and ferried to Xiamen, China in Aug-21 for maintenance. It was also repainted all white and returned to Hong Kong in Sep-21

In early Nov-21 the aircraft was ferried to Doha, Qatar and returned to the lessor as 2-LPKB. It was leased to Qatar Airways as A7-BOB in late Nov-21 to cover for their grounded airbus A350's. It continues in service. Updated 03-Dec-25.

British Airways operates the largest frequency of flights between London Heathrow and Seattle, currently operating with 12 weekly flights during the S18 schedule, compared to Virgin Atlantic who currently operates a single daily flight year-round.

Out of the 12 weekly flights, the daily BA48/49 sees the return of Super Hi-J configured Boeing 747-400s during the summer, whilst the 5-times weekly BA52/53 continues in the hands of their 4-class Boeing 777-200ERs.

Whilst British Airways have been more consistent in placing the right aircraft on the right route, notably their refurbished Super Hi-J and their un-refurbished Mid-J Boeing 747-400s stick to their dedicated flights, they do frequently stray if one or the other is not available. In this case, Super Hi-J Boeing 747-400s are diagrammed to work BA48/49, however there is the odd occasion a Mid-J Boeing 747-400 can be seen filling-in.

Currently, British Airways operates 36 Boeing 747-400s, of which 2 are expected to be withdrawn during 2018.

Charlie India Victor Kilo is one of 36 Boeing 747-400s in service with British Airways, delivered new to the flag-carrier in February 1997 and she is powered by 4 Rolls-Royce RB211-524G engines. She was one of a handful of Boeing 747-400s to have not carried a World Tail, delivered new in Landor colours until June 2002 when she gained their Chatham Dockyard Union Jack livery. She gained Oneworld logo-jet colours in June 2009.
