Grauman's Egyptian Theatre opened and hosted the first ever movie premiere in 1922. As with the Pacific Theatre 4 blocks east, damage was sustained in the Northridge Earthquake of 1994. Current ownership by Netflix may reopen the restored/refurbished theatre in 2023. For anyone interested in the history and images of this theatre (and others, by link), try this: www.historictheatrephotos.com/Theatre-Photography/Egyptia...

~Story People~
So the other day Zander broke our hearts! Mike had taken him skating and afterward he said he wished he could see out of both eyes like everyone else. Mike asked him why and he said because then he could see if someone was coming up beside him.. he said it scared him when people sneak up on his left side. This is the first time he has ever made any comments about being blind. I guess we just assume it doesn't affect him.
It got me to thinking that it may not be that long before he starts realizing that he looks different too. I guess we just have to hope that we have given him the tools to realize that he is beautiful and special and wonderful just the way he is! Sometimes people just suck though!!! and unfortunately I can't change the way the world perceives him. I guess as mothers we always question whether or not we've made the right choices for our children. I had the choice to put him through surgeries as a baby to give him a glass eye and make him look "more normal". It wouldn't give him vision just a glass eye. I didn't feel that was necessary because we all thought he was beautiful!. We want him to be proud of himself.. differences and all. Of course if he chooses when he is older to have that surgery then I will completely support him.. but then it will be his decision not ours. Ahhh who ever said being a mother was going to be easy :-) But it's so worth it!!!

This is my first entry for the Shutter Sisters One Word project.
It seems really unoriginal, now that I think about it, but as my life gets crazier and crazier -- with work, school, family, etc. -- I find myself taking shots that calm me and give me some peace.
Nothing that multitasks or has to hold a hundred different meanings or thoughts at once.
Just simple. Just one.
Happy February.

This strident warning is on a footpath alongside the river near Nieuwpoort, Belgium.
Maybe it's one of those subtle Belgian jokes?

in "Trader Joe's" food store, their little stickers are loved by little children sitting in the grocery cart while parents are waiting for their credit card approval, . . . anyway, I love them too.
So we worked 'em into a self-portrait. I loved the inclusion of the ring, which I forgot to notice when I set up the shot. Because flowers nurture relationship, and it totally came together for me here. Kinda fun.

As I walk through the bush I am very weary of the various webs spread through the trees. I love them, I think some are very beautiful, but I would not want one in my face.
Days of Shooting – Week 12 (w/b 24th September) One Word: Yes, just one word will make your photo for each day of this week …. whatever that one word is then please ensure that it is the focal point of the image. The “one word” should be the title of your photograph and where possible each day of the week should be of a different “one word” subject.

This is a name tag that gets sewn into kids cloths for school. The name is 1.5 inches long. I've used my Nikon Z6ii with a Nikkor 105mm macro lens. A single LED video-light was used for lighting.
No, we have not had snow. Not in April in the South. But this little piece of down that I found last night looks rather like snow... My husband told me to shoot a wall today. It's been that kind of day. This little piece of fluff is as close as I could get, because it had to be a pretty wall, don't you see... ;-)

Whispered from my heart and soul to my unwilling eyes
Lift my vision from the ground lift it to the sky
Skies they used to be so ugly rain that stings my face
Opens up their glory just earth and sky and space
And your passionate embraces absolve me of my sin
Your life lifts me up so I can see
See the sky again
