When i look through a camera's viewfinder, i see color, i see light, i see freedom.
The freedom to create, to compose, to share with others what i see and how i see it. To speak through what i choose to have in focus. To show a little bit of me in what i choose as my subjects. To appreciate the little things that no one else sees, the hues, the angles, the details.
The magical ability to steal and paint with a moment. To stop time. To take a deep breath, and sigh happiness as i give myself the time to be grateful for the beauty i'm lucky enough to be viewing.
Squeezed this in on the last day that I could in time for the Shutter Sisters one word project, that word being "Express."

I don't know why, but it struck me as odd to adorn a funeral home with Christmas decorations. Easter, I'd understand...

Created for Beyond Layers eCourse with Kim Klassen, using her textures Plaster Squared, Just Cause and Dusty Rose. This week's challenge is to create an image to represent a single word. Our word is contentment. ♥ We like having a little spring-like corner in our home during the winter days. It might not seem much, but it’s enough to brighten up the gloomy and rainy days.
Images like this are out of our comfort zone, but we hope to get better over time.

so. i just had my next roll developed and had a little trouble with it too. i made a little mistake in handling my film last time and the roll was ruined, but this time i also had some similar trouble and there was no mistake in handling this roll. i'm thinking i may have bought a bad pack of film. there were a few shots that turned out okay but most didn't. on the upside...my kodak portra film is on the way :)

Hub has updated the OS on the computer while I was out today and I'm seeing different fonts ... and I had to get mad at Photos before I found the buttons I was looking for!
I don't know if this is affecting my judgement but I'm not convinced by the tones in this B&W conversion. I'm too tired to fight with it tonight though :(

It's Mothers Day here in Australia and my daughter is right now driving with her fiance from the town where they live to come visit.
I hope all you mums out there enjoy your special day.
When she was younger and lived at home, she used to post on Flickr and dabble with photoshop and we all used to laugh ourselves silly as she would play with the liquify tool and distort images of ourselves.
Little does she know that I still have some of her efforts and I am hoping she still has a sense of humour when she sees I have posted this. If this is my last post, you know what happened.
I am grateful for the companionship, committed love, loyalty of Bob over the past 26 years. I am so glad I am not alone.
Someone once said to me, "how can you stand to go to an island with your husband?! I'd go crazy being with mine day after day after day"
