Picture taking is usually a slow and time consuming process although the click of shutter is a fraction of one second most of the time.
Photographers find an interesting subject with a good setting (background) and good light condition. Then he/she will work on it. Finding a good spot or point of view that you can make a good arrangement of all visual elements in the scene i.e. the composition. Finally wait for the right moment to shoot.
Before the click, you have to decide on the filtration (filter), exposure compensation, white balance, aperture and desirable shutter speed etc.
The entire process can take 10 to 30 minutes, sometimes hours or even days to make it happen.
For those decisive moments on street that you think street photographers catch it by luck. Think it again. Actually he/she discovers the location and works on it for days or hours in order to get the shot.
I find the Canadian goose at the pond in Queen Elizabeth Park. I took a few shots in far distance. Then I move in closer every 5 minutes one shot after another. Finally I got the tight composition I am looking for. I think the process took me at least 25 minutes to finish.
The goose is trusting me that I will not attack him or hurt him anyway.
This is just an illustration for the story of photography being result of patience and work over time. No matter you are doing bird, landscape or street photography.

* and yes if you're thinking it ~ this is not my idea! Seen it done so well a couple of times and thought it would be perfect for todays fgr~ dance like you don't know how! but it looks like I wasn't the only one~ because the lovely EvgueniK did one earlier too! ~simply beautiful! but the first place i saw this~ was one of my Fav. girlies~ Un4gtableAnn and for those who haven't seen her stream~ let me tell you she lives up to her name! Unforgettable! :)
Have to mention~ this was my grandmothers dress, it's so full super awesome for spinning! :) ~she's wonderful wish she wasn't all the way in NY! I miss her!
day 265!!! The count down begins!!! 100 days left!
So today is also the first day of my "One Step Closer" project! (just cuz I had to have a name for it) basically 100 things about me, one day at a time~ things that bring you, one step closer to knowing me! :) so cheesy hu?
*step one~
Since we are on the subject of dancing, thought it would be a great place to start! I love to dance~ I took Jaz, Tap and Ballet for 10 years~ had a blast. I even got to compete in San Francisco and we won a few trophies!! loved the costumes and the girls but hated to perform! I have the worst stage fright. Had a good run and had to discontinue due to cost! That crap is expensive and my mom was working an going to school to support us so.... it's now a thing of the past and memories I will cherish always!

i've always wanted to play the guitar and i love to sing! i actually used to have a really good voice~ but i lost it somewhere, guess you gotta use it!

decided to go ahead and make this my 365~ from yesterday! so..
step 4, ummm~ my natural hair color is a brownish-red! Very similar to the color of my eyes! When I was younger it had a lot of red in it~ not I can tell from the root's it's mostly brown. We have a few pictures of my mom, gram & i all together w/our red hair~ it's a trip!

Linkin Park: One Step Closer
Don't worry, I am not about to break and I if I am one step closer to the edge then the edge is nevertheless still far away...
However this song came to my mind when I was cutting ths edge to my hair. And so I thought I might as well use this together with my screaming face (which has somehow become a classic in the meantime...)
What it took: In order to get the one step closer to the edge of good taste I used a combination of famous techniques here.
In RAW I boosted the clarity to 100 % which already starts to emphasize the contrasts (of wrinkles especially) and desaturated the picture. This kind of processing is inspired by the famous Andrzej Dragan whose style might be the most copied of modern times (Just google "Dragan" and look for the picture results...).
However the outcome was still not sufficient so I used a technique presented by here by Russell Brown (my favorite PS teacher. In this video he however presents a processing style from Calvin Hollywood, whom I also adore for his skills. So now you know it and I have done my task of cross referencing. Just take every style you like in a mixer, blend it and voilà.

"one step closer"~ i love all the classic cartoon movies! my grandmother used to send me them every time a new one came out. i accidentally took them to the good will one day and dropped them off thinking they were some other movies. oh well~ figure by the time i need em for my kids (if that ever happens) i'll want dvds! i still cry at the end of "the little mermaid"! ~ one of my favs.
Friday night at a friends house! had Mojitos and pizza~ it was great! Sorry i haven't been around to comment~ i will.
"one step closer", one of my favorite foods is pizza! so much that the first thing i wanted after three days in the hospital with testing and blood transfusions (in 2001, when i was diagnosed with Crohns disease) was a pepperoni extra cheese from Round Table! the doc. said it was ok~ so i did! it was freakin awesome!

Today, I was really honored to shoot the One Step Closer HIV-AIDS benefit event. Olympic Gold Medalist, Oksana Baiul was one of the celebrity figure skater that performed an exhibition in the event. She performed her signature “Swan Lake” program.
This event took place in Trump Lasker Skating Rink, Central Park New York City.
The weather was sunny but the temperature is in the 30’s. Next time, I will bring my gloves in my camera bag.
