This was on Nation Public Lands Day 2016, This is actually an old section of road, at about the 1800s/1900s turn over. The road actually followed the wash and has deteriorated over the many years. This group has gotten their permit and are negotiating the rough terrain. The Vehicles have highly specialized suspension, and this isn't even the worst of the route. I myself was hiking through the area and was not with the off roaders. I actually made it The End of the canyon and a good way back to catch them about half way. That's how hard this is to navigate by four wheel.

This young man was having a blast cruising up and down between the rows of show cars at the Zelienople Fall Festival car cruise in his little BUG equipped with a whistle on the engine that sounded like a steam train. His smile says it all!

Land Rover Series III (1971-85) Engine 2286cc S4 Diesel

The Series III had the same body and engine options as the preceding IIa, including station wagons and the 1 Ton versions. Little changed cosmetically from the IIA to the Series III. The Series III is the most common Series vehicle, with 440,000 of the type built from 1971 to 1985. The headlights were moved to the wings on late production IIA models from 1968/9 onward (ostensibly to comply with Australian, American and Dutch lighting regulations) and remained in this position for the Series III. The traditional metal grille, featured on the Series I, II and IIA, was replaced with a plastic one for the Series III model.
