The ever perspicacious Coco pulls out a piece of impedimenta from some 23 years ago that might have been designed for this moment: if only the Evading Standards had a decent editorial policy that minded the people of our fair city rather than the interests of a the powerful. jsc2014e037863 (April 14, 2014) --- Official portrait of Johnson Space Center Director and former astronaut Ellen Ochoa who is retiring May 25, 2018, after 30 years at the agency. Ochoa has flown to space four times including twice to the International Space Station in May 1999 and again in April 2002.
New Haven Railroad officials (aka: suits) are seen in a discussion while at the ground level yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut, July 6, 1926. In the background you can see the electric motor storage area and also the steam locomotive water tower and coaling tower. The motor directly behind the man with the white shirt appears to be an EF-1 class motor, but of course in those days there were no motor classes, because they came later for all motors. Check out the heavyset man because he is wearing a summertime straw hat of the era.

Although this statue of the high official Horemheb dates to the Ptolemaic Period, its iconography and style is almost exclusively Egyptian.
In charge of the important trading post of Naukratis, Horemheb is shown here in a royal kilt, at a size usually reserved for monarchs and gods.

From an undated but c1960 official guide to the County Borough of Warrington, then in Lancashire, comes a fold out map and guide to services fronted by a single page advert.
The municipal operation had, like most others, begun with tramway operation, in Warrington's case in 1902 with the trams withdrawn and wholly replaced by buses by 1935. The operation survived the 1985 deregulation and is, indeed, still a municipally owned company trading as "Warrington's Own Buses".
The route network was mostly within the Borough boundary but in common with most other Lancashire municipalities a number of joint routes, involving other operators, existed although the map does not necessarily make this clear! The diagram is unusually described as a 'skeleton map' showing the main outlines of the routes as well as rhe River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal that bisect the borough. It also gives a list of services operated.

Before digging into the last century For Summerfolk Photos I'm posting a a quick set of "Official" pics pics from each year. The only thing that makes them 'official' is that we call them them that. It all started with a group pic in 1997. and we have posed for a group pic most years.
After going to Summerfolk for over 20 years it can be hard to seperate each individual year. the 'official' pics can be a sort of quick reference guide to who was there each year.
Some years I don't have an 'official' group pic for, so a few times I cheated and used one that is sort of representative of the year, or in one case it's only photo I have from that year.

I went to the cancer clinic today to meet with that surgeon and her team, get genetic testing done, and orders for more biopsies and scans.
I'm officially a cancer patient which is still really effing weird.
However, I'm a very early Stage 1 and my tumor is less than 2cm in size.
I'm getting the other weird area biopsied, while in a MRI. Because why not?
Then I get the odd looking lymph node area ultrasounded since that is the best image of that area and if it needs a biopsy, well I already have an order for that.
I like this team. They are clear, concise, and gave me all the different options that all the different answers will give me.
Dan was there via Duo video call because that's just how we have to do this now. But I really did feel like I wasn't alone and that is all that matters.
My gyno immediately called after she received the report to hear my voice and see how I was. She is fantastic and I'm so sorry she's retiring next year.
And that's the latest and greatest in the way of my day to day during this whole mess.

LIGHT RAIL TO OPEN DECEMBER 14
"Trams will carry passengers through Sydney’s streets for the first time in nearly 60 years
when the CBD and South East Light Rail opens on Saturday, 14 December.
"NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Transport Minister Andrew Constance today announced the start date for the first light rail service to run down George Street since
1961 (sic).
“The CBD and South East Light Rail is a big step towards revitalising our city and will
transform the way we live, work and go out in Sydney,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“Trams will be fare-free for the opening weekend so the community can ride the new light rail to celebrate this historic event.
“The new network will move up to 13,500 commuters an hour during peak time in both
directions, replacing the conga line of buses which used to sit in traffic on George Street.
"A coupled tram holds up to 450 customers, the equivalent of up to nine standard buses.”
Minister for Transport Andrew Constance revealed the first passenger services will start at
11am on Saturday and run between Circular Quay and Randwick until 1am.
“This is an exciting time and we expect a huge turnout at Circular Quay of people taking a ride on the new trams before regular services start on Monday,” Mr Constance said.
“With passenger services right around the corner it’s more important than ever for the
community to pay attention to safety messages around trams.
“We have launched multiple safety campaigns telling people to stay safe around light rail.
"We need pedestrians to keep their heads up and drivers to stay out of the tram corridor
and not queue across intersections.”
"Services on the CBD and South East Light Rail will run from 5am to 1am every day of the week"
