A view back toward the ridge known as the five sisters of Kintail. A great day on the corbett Beinn Loinne near loch Cluanie. Great to be escape from all of the madness..
The sandy shores of the Great Salt Lake can be very misleading. One moment you are on hardpack and the next riding on peanut butter soil.
A 4X4 found this out the hard way. The owner asked I not photograph them as they were very embarrassed. The extraction cost them $650 as it took two trucks.
The smaller white truck went to a midway point and used chains to drag the 4X4 out. It was then stuck in the mud. The yellow rollback tow truck then pulled each vehicle separately out.
The Great Salt Lake - GPS is not the exact spot of the photo.
A pair of Semipalmated Plovers face off, with the one on the left a little intimidated by the others display and aggression.
Australian White Ibis (Threskiornis molucca)
Not sure if this Ibis was naturally this colour or it had been in some muddy water.
Showing off.

I remember this day so clearly. It was our first day of travel in beautiful Costa Rica and our amazing tour guide spotted this Fasciated Tiger-Heron (I hope this is right) and said stay on the bus, I thought he said get off, so I did!!! All was well when it ended up on this beautiful perch. At this point we were all 'off the bus'...lol
day 2
The little lapwing decided to go off road after its previous exploration of the roadways in our village. The parent birds were very nearby, but just let out a little warning now and then as I got close, but they did let me get quite close. I actually ended up being limited by the close focus distance of the lens, but the little guy filled the frame nicely.
Knob is the challenge; Macro Mondays is the group.
Image is 2.75in. on the long edge.

We are back home after our 19 day roadtrip to see gardens of the Pacific Northwest. It was a great trip, and I plan to share many more images of the beautiful places we visited.
Thanks for stopping by!

I think the only thing that's completely in focus is that one bit of the wire fence.
It's the village's equivalent of Oktoberfest tonight. There will not be a repeat performance of last year.
Just as I was about to leave the pier this fishing boat caught the sunlight and my eye. The sun may have been shining but it looks likely that rain is not far off judging by the clouds.
Increased the contrast a bit for sliders sunday HSS.
