This juvenile male Ruby-throated Hummingbird is looking at me like "These are my flowers!". The small red patches on the neck designate this as a juvenile male.
After reading about a unique waterfall located within what was described as a slot canyon less than 90 minutes from home, I knew I had to see it for myself.
Directions ended with: "At the end of the trail, follow the manway (unofficial trail) up, around the first waterfall, climb a small rock wall, and hike the remainder of the way to the next falls in the streambed". This translated into: Geezers like me will be sore the next day and will need to make an offering of a full dose of Ibuprofen to the trail gods.
Bailey Falls is located near Greeneville, TN in Cherokee National Forest, past Margarette Falls on the West Fork Dry Creek and is further divided into an upper and lower falls. The lower falls are shown here, with the top of the upper falls visible here as the first drop. The Lower Falls are 20 feet in height and the canyon section surrounding the plunge pool being perhaps 8 feet in width. With the rhododendrons overhanging the canyon from both sides it had a cave-like appearance. What it lacks in size it makes up for in beauty. There is only here. There is only now, and it is good. Off Trail Zen.
I took this this morning, bright and early with the sun still low on the horizon off to the left of the photo.

As much as I disparage those who scare wildlife, after cautiously watching this duck get closer and closer, I have to wonder if it may have been me that scared it to flight (or not). A boat motor started up about the same time, but it was quite a distance off. Or maybe it was my loud (old camera) shutter. Or maybe, after approaching closer and closer to me, it finally just took umbrage with my presence.

Anything goes 2021 - Focus is overrated - a deliberately out of focus image.
This is a garden with a grey gate, and a wall with a rose hanging over. I took a double exposure with my Sweet 35. This is the first image which I deliberately blurred and I quite liked it as a standalone image for the theme. I may post the double exposure too at some point.

This is the third of a sequence of photos that I took when the owl took off from his perched position on the top of a utility pole. This is 89% cropping.
As I was editing the image I noticed that there are small drops of water that are falling off the pelicans wings as he was taking off. I think this one is going to be printed.
