At odds (are)

some moments in the day

with the other,

one or two words in a sentence

with the other, and

the relation of one element

with its environment.

Defying the odds and breaking the rules. Even Mother Nature does it. This English shrub rose, Golden Celebration, bred by David Austin Roses arrived and was potted with expectation of roses in Spring. Pleasantly, it throws a single tiny 2 inch bud just yesterday afternoon! Look forward to a pot full of blooms come Spring. :0)

Typically you see one male with 4 to 8 females, but this guy has 16 in tow. Either the odds are good or this fellow has something they other males lack and lots of it ;->

These foureye butterflyfish were vacationing in Curacao at the exact same time I was. And at the same reef, no less! What are the odds? So if a pair of foureye butterfly fish have 8 eyes, but only 4 are visible and 2 are fake, that leaves… I don’t know what I’m trying to say. I’ll quit. Diving is cool.

I've spent thousands of hours with a camera, hundreds of hours pointing a camera at birds, but only ones of hours pointing a camera at fish. So... Underwater photography is definitely a work in progress for me. But I'll keep working and hopefully keep progressing!

Water lilies, those ethereal blooms that grace the tranquil surfaces of ponds and slow-moving streams, are nature's living poetry. Their delicate petals, like frosted glass, rest upon emerald lily pads, creating a serene tableau. Yet, beneath their fragile beauty lies resilience, for these aquatic marvels rise above the muddy depths from which they grow. They symbolize transformation, as they emerge from the darkness into the light, unfurling their petals as if to greet the sun. In their simplicity, water lilies remind us that even in the murkiest of waters, there is the potential for exquisite beauty and graceful rebirth, a lesson in serenity and the art of flourishing against all odds.

Standing strong against the odds. Yesterday as I was bundled from head to toe against the cold and winds, I looked down and saw this tiny little rosebud trying to blossom. It has been in the 20s at night here and rarely out of the upper 30s and low 40s so, I was truly amazed at the tenacity of this! This is a macro shot as the bud is really tiny. Amazing..just amazing what He does :) Working today, tomorrow and Wednesday. sigh lol!

A long dairy barn that once centered a farmer's daily work life now finds itself used only for odds and ends. As I aged and got past the years of my career, I often find my usefulness in life is experienced in bits and pieces.
