FORT CARSON, Colo.--Fourth Infantry Division Soldiers chop out shrubs to use for an obstacle at the Wilderness Road Training Complex in preparation for the Expert Field Medical Badge testing, July 29 through August 30. The obstacle, one of many of three Common Task Lanes, will require Soldiers to drag a litter patient through the mud and under the barbed wire, while reacting to simulated weapons fire and smoke. The CTLs will test a total of 40 common Soldier and medical kills.

FORT CARSON, Colo.--Third Briagde, 4th Infantry Division Soldiers begin work on what will soon be a muddy trench covered with a roof of barbed wire, at the Wilderness Road Training Complex, July 31. The obstalce is part of a Common Task Lane for the Expert Field Medical Badge test. Soldiers must be able to move a litter patient through the mud and under the wire while facing simulated weapons fire and smoke. Each of the three lanes are designed to challenge Soldiers to perform common Soldier skills as well as medical skills in a combat environment. The entire testing process, to include set up, validation and standardization, will last from July 30 to Aug. 24.
