The subject of the 7th chapter of the MIMA is the definition of 'normality' in art.
'Obsessions' presents several hundred works by 23, mainly Belgian, artists, taking the form of drawings, sculptures, ceramics or in situ installations.
Whether gestural expressionist or meticulous introverted, humorous or sad, the singular universe of each artist seems to expand with each new production and element of a series. The works reveal an extraordinary application in the way they are executed, bordering on obsession. But does this mean that the artists nurture a pathological obsession with their creations? The answer can never be gleaned from the works themselves.

Many of you will know that I identify as a gender-fluid male bearing a particular obsession with pantyhose, stockings and high heels.
When I am not at work, I wear women’s clothes exclusively, but at work I am required to present in male professional attire - business suit, shirt and tie.
I threw out all my men’s underwear (boring, dull, tedious stuff) many years ago and wear only sexy lingerie regardless of my outerwear.
I always wear pantyhose with women’s underwear under my suit at work. It brightens up the more dreary of work days.
Often, I will travel to or from work, in high heels with my men’s business suit, until I arrive at the office at then take them off in the car.
Usually, when I am travelling out of town I by train or by air, I will dress fully in women’s clothes and high heels with a little makeup and nail polish and then get changed for my meetings after I’ve checked into the hotel.
Occasionally, I need to go straight to a meeting at the other end of the journey, so some high heels, worn with pantyhose and my men’s business suit, are easy to change before I arrive at my appointment.
Sometimes a little nail polish and light eye make adds to the fun and can be easily removed before going into my meetings.
These days, in most big cities in Europe, a transvestite in public, will receive maybe some passing attention, but a guy in conservative business suit, high heels, nail polish and eye makeup is not something they’re quite as accustomed to.
Sitting on a train or an aircraft or in a station or an airport in a classic men’s business suit with some sexy high heels and pantyhose on underneath, my nails carefully polished and eye-makeup, creates a bit of “gender-f*ck” that really mucks around with people’s gender perceptions and generates more than a few stares and whispers, second glance and sometimes even the odd compliment.
I get a real buzz out of this.
These photos were shot over coffee, at Frankfurt Station recently, after arriving on an early train from Berlin, killing some time before going on to my meetings in Frankfurt that day.

79/365 Obsession with dates.
Often give too much importance to dates, and therefore, to the numbers. They are just that, numbers that almost unintentionally, we give them a special meaning. As "Tuesday, the 3rd is the day of bad luck." I don't believe in this, I think that indeed there is no bad luck days, everything is psychological.

A menudo damos demasiada importancia a las fechas, y por tanto, a los números. Son solo eso, números que casi sin querer les damos un significado especial. Como "El martes 3 es el día de la mala suerte". No creo en ello, pienso que en verdad no hay días de la mala suerte, todo es psicológico.

I've become strangely obsessed with this model. It's so aesthetically pleasing.
OBSESSION - DYANN & DARYN - the end
This series fell out of an older one - fashion for dummies - a few years back. i had given the humanoid mannequins names beginning with the letter D [..for dummy]. the more alien abstract ones were numbered 3 of 5 etc, [.. yes i know, i know]. two, who had been randomly named dyann & daryn, i realised i had returning to several times. the set was originaly titled "dead as they come" after a short story written by ian mcewan, when he was young and interesting. later adapted for tv starring ian holm as the guy who falls for a shop window mannequin.
dyann & daryn have now been replaced by shiny new 5 of 8 and 7 of 8.
these are the final obsessions, discovered sfter a desperate search of the archives.

Here is a piccie of me with most of the board collection (quiver). Either Me or Mr ride em all !!! They range in size from the old 1962 mal =9 foot'4 down to six foot and everything in between. When we took this photo and packed em all back up we realised we had left two out of the picture.
This necklace was inspired by the character of the Queen in the Snow White and the Huntsman movie - Charlize Theron portraying the Queen is the embodiment of cold beauty, obsession and madness.
Dark and mysterious necklaces consists of a hand-formed mirror pendant made in fine and sterling silver. It was partially oxidised to graphite and the frame has a more layered form. The pendant hangs on a thick (3mm) black leather cord finished with a silver clasp.
The pendant is 5,5cm long and 3,5cm wide.
The cord is 45cm long and has a 5cm chain extension. I can adjust the cord length for you.
