This Armenian Pot is dated 1896. It is a metre tall. And just to fend off the questions... I don't know if there is anything inside it, with its stand it is 1.6 metres off the ground, which is taller than me. ;o)
If want to see it in its entirety, you can see it here on the left hand side...

Objects of Desire: Surrealism and Design 1924-Today
(October 2022 – February 2023)
Delve into the dreamlike relationship between Surrealism and design in this century spanning celebration of Surrealist objects of desire.
Curated with Vitra Design Museum, the exhibition explores design from the birth of surrealism in 1924 to the current day; spanning classic Surrealist works of art and design as well as contemporary Surrealist responses.
The exhibition uncovers how one of the 20th century's most influential movements came to impact design through its questioning of the conventional and its commitment to exploring the mind, unconscious and mystical.
It brings together the best in Surrealist design, from furniture, interior design, fashion, photography and world-renowned artworks from Surrealist pioneers such as Salvador Dalí, Dora Maar, Man Ray, Leonora Carrington and Lee Miller, through to contemporary artists and designs, such as Schiaparelli, Dior, Björk.
The result is an exhibition filled with playful, curious and poetic objects that uncover the rich history of Surrealism and its fascinating influence on design.

Our current Sculpture project brief is a fairly open one; it asks that we explore objects in relation to a site or sites.
Aside from the set work I have created this locker in response to the dire lack of space and secure storage on my course.
The locker is created entirely from scrap timber and fittings and was fun to make. One of my tutors suggested that as a bespoke object it could be considered ‘Sculpture’.
I do find it a pleasing object, and to some extent it does provide an elegant grounded response to the brief. It is essentially an intermediary between the (objects) I give importance to and the uncertain and chaotic space/(site) of our studio.
A Truman Capote Reader
I left Manchester in the Autumn of 1990 and this somehow found its way into a box of books that moved with me.
I kept telling myself that I would send it on to the library with a note of apology but never got around to it.
I love this book.
I still feel guilty.
The cover shot of Truman is by cartier Bresson

Themed wall art sets are a great addition to common areas; they are bright, inspiring and liven any space.

Pattern: Random Ankle Socks (off the internet)
Needles: Knit Picks US2
Yarn: Sockotta – Shades of Purple, Color #26
Cost: $8.50 (less than 1 ball - lots of yarn for booties!)
Size: 7/8
For: Nobody - they were practice socks! They will now be dust rags! LOL
Time: My motto – As long as you make it. Simple socks (ankle socks go fast!)
Modifications: None. I did magic loop (ML) even though the pattern was written for DPNs, so the instructions were reinterpreted for the ML method.
What I learned: How to ML!! Definitely have the hang of it now!
Verdict: Mmmh I would never use this pattern or yarn again. The sock was made in my size but the heel flap was too long (so I would shorten it) and the foot was not snug enough = too dang big. But I was just so excited about doing my 1st pair of socks!
I wanted to do something simple and easy since I knew I was going to be doing ML. It was a struggle to translate the pattern in the beginning, and I wish I didn’t wait as long to start on the 2nd one because obviously I forgot what the heck I did! LOL SSS Disease is real! And the only cure is to just plow thru the next one. :o) (which you may not want to do since I made so many mistakes! :op LOL)
As for the yarn I like Sockotta, but not for this pattern. I really like yarn that has some “cush” to it…not feeling it with Sockotta, so Cascade Fixation is still on my list for ankle socks.
Overall, not a perfect fit (or socks for that matter) but I am glad I did them! :o)

More Impossible Object bafflers!!! This have been a very satisfying series - now if I can only figure out how to translate these crazy shaded-angle concepts into multi-levels without my brain exploding...
