A shot I can only blame on my early morning restlessness because of the warm weather, but I received my just rewards for a poor night's sleep. By sheer coincidence, 1A50 failed somewhere between St Austell and Par, with 57604 "Pendennis Castle" scrambled from Laira as acting thunderbird, the bodysnatcher recently returning after a major overhaul that lasted 20 months.
604 and a failed 57602 "Restormel Castle" pass Oath Farm on the Somerset Levels with the 5Z50 05.00 Plymouth-Reading Traincare Depot sleeper on a fine early morning, with crisp light supplied courtesy of the impending Summer Solistice. Though running as empty stock, the up sleeper was technically some 5 hours later than originally booked at this stage, passing not long after 6.30am.
Taken with the assistance of a pole. Massive thanks goes to JA for the gen, for whom I would've known nothing about this had it not been for the late-night tip-off about the failure.
