I never leave home without them: two Lathermen, a notebook and a pen. Ii don't think a day goes by that I don't have a use for at least one of them.
There's simply no way to make a pretty picture out of these battered old tools that have been in my pockets for years.
The 1/29 Macro Mondays theme is EDC (every day carry).
Today We’re Here asks the question, What are you reading?
My first thought was, I haven’t read anything in ages – I’ve been too busy! But, then, as I was standing at the magazine rack in the big box store this evening, looking for inspiration for what to cook for dinner, it dawned on me that I am almost constantly reading. It is a constant barrage of email, the technical references I consult, the assembly instructions for that new little shelf unit and that new coat rack, my owners manual for the car, operating instructions for the new furnace, online resources on how to install my washer and dryer, recipes, Flickr comments . . . and . . . I need a break!

Inspired by Emily because I think she's the only person that likes playing with fake blood more than me.
The blood is also mint flavoured which helps in the event that a candy cane should stick itself into your head. I've had this idea for a few weeks now and it feels quite relevant today as I've lost my "holiday mo-jo". Maybe it's because I started getting into the holiday spirit a little too early, today I'm not feeling it at all. Not feeling scroogey just...meh.
oh and that's all just make-up, no photoshop tricks! I know it's a little gorey for the holidays but it can't all be snowmen and reindeer right? :)
TOTW: It's All In The Details
This silver robbery seems to be a little bit overloaded! The tiny robber doesn`t seem to be able to move his heavy theft :)
Funston Arch Complex
Eagle Creek Natural Bridge
Kentucky
Located on private property , this is one of Kentucky's more beautiful places as a stream passes beneath a natural bridge then makes two 4 ft. or so drops into a splash pool shared with another 20 ft tall waterfall! Besides what you see here to the left out of the shot are two more natural arches and behind me are two natural windows! It doesn't get much better than this and it's a place I can spend hours at, and have done so more than on one occasion!
A medium-size motor boat which is most likely on its way to a seaside residential community located on the other side of Subic Bay, carries a dozen passengers, including some children - which is about half more than its allowed capacity.
Taken in Subic Town, Zambales, Philippines.
The nature of commuter travel in Sri Lanka is demonstrated here quite clearly. People hang 3 or 4 deep on the outside of the carriages trying to get home. It brings an element of jeopardy into train travel, although trains dont travel that fast in Sri Lanka this commuter will reach speeds nearing 40 mph.

Sensory overload as well with Thai, Indian restaurants beside local Japanese eateries along colorful Dotonbori!
Very late afternoon shot, the neon signs already lighted up.
There's a plethora of camera gear review sites on the internet these days, many are click-bait sites in masquerade.
Some sites review "absolute" lens quality on an optical bench with a single consistent sensor while other sites test lenses on the latest camera bodies the lenses were designed for. Different pros and cons but it is important to know the difference.
Total system output makes the most sense since the lens can't take photos on its own and generally can't be used optimally on mounts it was not designed for. Comparing lens quality across different generation camera bodies however is meaningless as many review sites do not update their reviews with the newest camera bodies.
Synthesizing lens quality down to a couple of numbers can also be very misleading, especially when it comes to Zooms.
The lack of consistency in approaches in reviews can get very confusing.
End of the day, best to exercise patience and not buy any gear on release, wait for the opinions of real users (not those on cameramakers' payroll) after using the gear under field conditions.
Post processing exercise 24Nov21, 3 years after this was originally uploaded, obvious improvement.
