Fifth instar shown here. Adult is overall dull green with red or black eyes. Can be found in gardens, parks, allotments and waste ground feeding on plants that will include tomatoes and runner beans. This species of shiedlbug was accidentally imported in fruit and vegetables and is a relative newcomer in the UK fauna and was first recorded breeding in London in 2003. Rare at present but may easily spread. Native to Ethiopia and most likely to be seen in the UK from Mat to September.

Ce soir je vous présente un petit oiseau qui bouge 2 à 3 fois plus que nos Grimpereaux brun. Sans plus d'éclats et anonyme dans son environnement, mesurant 11cm / 4.5 pouce pas vraiment plus gros qu'un oiseau mouche. Je l'avais observé l'année passée mais pas vraiment bien capté pour le présenter comme un Lifer... J'ai je crois eu la chance de capter les deux espèce le même soir et dans le Golden Hours... Les voici.

Tonight I present you a little bird that moves 2 to 3 times more than our Brown Creepers. Without being so obvious in is environment and blending in perfectly, measuring 11cm / 4.5 inch not really bigger than a hummingbird. I had seen it last year but not really made a good captured to present it as a Lifer ... I think I had the chance to capture both species the same evening and in the Golden Hours ... Here they are.

The American bushtit inhabits mixed open woodlands, often containing oaks and a scrubby chaparral understory ; it also inhabits parks and gardens. It is a year-round resident of the western United States and highland parts of Mexico, ranging from Vancouver through the Great Basin and the lowlands and foothills of California to southern Mexico and Guatemala.
The American bushtit is one of the smallest passerines in North America, at 11 cm (4.3 in) in length and 5–6 g (0.18–0.21 oz) in weight. It is gray-brown overall, with a large head, a short neck, a long tail, and a short stubby bill. The male has dark eyes and the adult female, yellow. Coastal forms have a brown "cap" while those in the interior have brown "mask."
The American bushtit is active and gregarious, foraging for small insects and spiders in mixed-species feeding flocks containing species such as chickadees and warblers, of 10 to over 40 individuals. Members of the group constantly make contact calls to each other that can be described as a short spit.
This species produces an elaborate pendant nest of moss and lichen assembled with spider silk and lined with feathers.
Yes its Sawley cut again but I did like the distinctive warm and cool halves and the slight mist softening the overall look.

Here is a one year anniversary image from our trip to Acadia last summer. This was sunrise along the Atlantic Coast.
I went back to this RAW image and post processed a little more to bring up the overall exposure a little, slight more definition in the shadows, and reduced the clarity setting ... it was too high previously adding some halo that I did not like in the very high contrast areas of the image.
This certainly is an amazing section of coastline ... and I was blessed with such a pretty sunrise.
I wanted to create a soft abstract image of a rose. Using a slow shutter speed enabled me to use movement to create the soft folds. It reminds me of a watercolor painting. Each transparent layer adds to the overall depth.

The Series Sixty-two was a model produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964 when it was renamed “Calais” for the 1965 model year. It was one of Cadillac’s most popular models. For the 1949 model year, the Series Sixty-two spawned the “Coupe deVille.”
For the 1953 model year the world was introduced to the very first Series Sixty-two Eldorado. The Series Sixty-two convertible was one of America’s most luxurious convertibles. Cadillac’s magnificent new design and craftsmanship were dramatically displayed in the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible.
Cadillac for the 1957 model year was completely redesigned. A Cadillac convertible was the celebrity among Cadillacs. There was no more gracious manner in which to enjoy open-air touring than the 1957 Series Sixty-two convertible. Its aristocratic flair was dramatic and pronounced.
Apart from the Biarritz convertible, the Series Sixty-two convertible was the most elegant convertible built in the land. It was the synthesis of two motoring worlds; it had all the panache of a ragtop and the comfort of a luxury car. Style code #6267F Series Sixty-two convertible had a base price of $5,225. (Cadillac repairs today run up tabs along these same dollar amounts…amazing)
The 1957 Cadillacs were all-new in design from the 1956 models. The 1957 cars presented a new sleekness in every line as witnessed by the Series Sixty-two convertible. They were built almost 3” lower in overall height.
The front end ensemble was boldly aggressive. It retained the “Dagmars.” The sweep of its new fender lines extended back to the redesign of the iconic Cadillac tail fins.
The convertible’s silhouette was highlighted by chrome-framed wheel openings and extended contour lines to both front and rear fenders. The fender skirts were dropped for a cleaner more contemporary look at the time.
All Cadillac bodies were built by the Fleetwood Division of Fisher Body under relentless quality control procedures. The Series Sixty-two convertible rode upon a long 129.5” wheelbase, had the luxury length of 220.9” and an 80” wide stance.
The Cadillac 6.0 litre 365 CID 16-valve V8 engine had five main bearings, intake silencer, and hydraulic lifters. It was constructed with cast iron, block and cylinder heads. The engine was equipped with a Rochester 4-bbl downdraft Quadrajet carburetor with equalized manifold, and automatic choke. It produced 300 hp @ 4,800 rpm with 542 Nm of peak torque @ 2,800 rpm. Performance was rated as 0-60 mph in 11.2 seconds, 0-100 mph in 33.1 seconds with a top speed of 119 mph. It could do the ¼ mile @ 81 mph in 18.1 seconds.
The Cadillac Series sixty-two convertible was a triumph of motoring distinction. Its unmatched comfort and spacious dignity was the finest expression of Cadillac’s dramatically new styling. In the way it looked and the way it drove, the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible introduced a brand new measure of excitement to modern luxury motoring…done in the manner only the “Standard of the World” could provide. This is another classic encore presentation…in the continuing saga of “As the Standard of the World Turns.”

A smart-looking dark thrush with a distinctive pale crescent on the chest; male’s is bright white, female’s is dingier.
Adult blackish overall with frosty pale wing edgings. Immature in autumn–winter has a much duller collar. Bill is duller yellow than Eurasian Blackbird, with a dark top edge and tip.
Rather shy, flying into cover or far away over slopes when disturbed.
Breeds in open highland habitat, including moorland, alpine meadows, rocky mountain sides, and conifer stands.

Sympetrum fonscolombii is a common, widespread species. A resident (and more common) in the Mediterranean regions of Europe. Can also be found in the more northern regions of Europe, as far north as Britain and Sweden and over towards Poland in the East. But in these countries here it becomes much scarcer and will be rarely seen. It is most common in North Africa, the Middle East, and into south-western Asia including the Indian Subcontinent.
Habitat: The Red-veined Darter can be found in a large range of habitats, although preferring warm still waters, these often being open and shallow. It can also be found in ponds, lakes, marshes, coastal lagoons and slow flowing rivers.
Males are notably territorial and will often be seen observing on a exposed perch.
After copulation a pair can often be seen flying in tandem, with the female dipping her abdomen into the water depositing her eggs. The eggs and larvae develop within a few months and S. fonscolombii unlike most other European dragonflies has more than one generation a year. Some larvae will overwinter.
This species is similar to other Sympetrum species, especially Crocothemis Erythraea; as both males being bright red in overall appearance, closer inspection will give a positive identification especially as that species has no black on its face and legs.
Females have an ochre yellow abdomen. Immature males can be mistaken for females but often have more red and a single line on each side of the abdomen.

The picture shows a small house that was once painted in a beautiful shade of turquoise, now in a state of disrepair and being consumed by the forces of nature. The house is located in a small town named Puyuhuapi, in the Chilean Patagonia, surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees.
The turquoise paint that once covered the house has faded and cracked, revealing the bare wood beneath. The windows are boarded up and covered in dirt, making it difficult to see inside.
The surrounding grass is overgrown and unkempt, reaching up to the roof of the house. The moisture from the nearby fjord and river and constant rain has caused mold to grow on the walls and roof, giving the house a greenish tinge.
Despite its dilapidated state, there is a certain picturesque charm to the scene. The house seems to blend in with the natural surroundings, becoming one with the lush vegetation that surrounds it. In the background, the misty mountains loom in the distance, adding to the sense of isolation and abandonment.
Overall, the picture portrays a sense of decay and neglect, but also a haunting beauty that can be found in the natural world.

Hooded Crow - Roman Forum, Rome, Italy

This was my first trip to Europe and I understand that this species of Crow is widespread across much of the continent. But in my travels all over Italy they were most prevalent in Rome, mostly at the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Based on that and their aggressive behavior to other birds I started calling them the Gladiator Crow.

Small, fast-flying parakeet of humid lowlands on the Pacific slope. Favors forest patches and fairly open country with hedges and tall trees, including towns and villages. Usually seen in pairs or small flocks; associates readily at fruiting and flowering trees with much larger and longer-tailed Orange-fronted Parakeet. Flight is distinctively bounding, not direct like larger parakeets. Plumage is green overall with bronzy shoulders; small orange chin patch is very hard to see.
