Autumn is the eternal corrective. It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity; but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance. What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see the span of his world and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?~ Hal Borland

So, I left home at 8 am wanting to capture ice. I knew it was windy and a bit cold but never like it. The wind was so strong and cold that I had a hard time breathing properly at times.... Even though I was well dressed, the wind was getting to me and did not take my time as I usually do to capture ice. I just could not do it.... will remember it... :o)

You go out, drinking fields and cities,

turned into a long deer of water,

towards the sea of dawn clarity,

like the well-deserved nest of the kingfisher.

That I will go out to wait for you, deadened,

made reed, to the high solitudes,

wounded by air and required

by your voice, alone among the storms

I was back out in our meadow this morning. No dew today but I found this lonely Lady on a small, dried weed. It was cool out and no wind. She was quite still for me to set-up and take around 30 shots for focus stacking @ 4x magnification.

Looks like there are a few mouths to feed back at the nest.

I know this photo is a bit overexposed but I liked the look of it

This year our male BBBs have been roosting at night on a long twig on one of our camellia trees, however their favourite twig fell off the tree recently, as dead twigs tend to do. I was really happy to see them making use of this one last night!

I've been too busy for Flickr lately and am now going away for three weeks but will catch up with all my contacts towards the end of April.

There once was a zebra

I do love the change to the surroundings that a flurry of snow or a touch of frost brings, for me it makes everything feel peaceful and still ❤

A Yellow-crowned Night Heron stretches his wings out, possibly to help cool himself on this hot morning.

when the mind appears in the morning don't jump to the usual conclusion, "this is me, these thought are mine", instead, watch these thoughts come an go, without identifying with them in any way. If you can resist the impulse to claim each and every thought as your own, you come to a startling conclusion. You'll discover that you are the consciousness in which thoughts appear and disappear ...
