So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

In this "Setting Sun Sunday" view, we find ourselves in another one of the many near ghost towns that dot the high plains. The remnant of business that once existed for the railroad at Owanka, the old grain elevator, still stands with no paint on it, as do some abandoned homes. While standing around waiting for a westbound we knew was out there, we had a most interesting conversation with one of the 17 remaining residents in this place. That in itself, and the information we learned from him, was perhaps the more valuable experience than anything else from this visit.
To our surprise, one thing he mentioned was that the railroad had removed the stick rail and replaced it with ribbon rail through here, so he told us that he'll be rolling good when he shows up here. It was surprising to hear a local resident tell us what we already knew about the railroad, but how cool that he knew that along with the whole history of the area. For us, it was a good thing this location was on upgraded track. We hoped he'd get here sooner, than he did, but even so rolling on good track, the westbound slammed through here literally seconds before the sun was completely gone. The last shot of the set has the leader going into the dark. We sweated it out cutting it that close and honestly figured the shot wasn't going to work, but all is well that ends well.

On Saturday Karen and I found ourselves wandering through Heart Lake Conservation area. It was an unseasonably warm day for the first week of November; the early morning sky had just cleared and wispy clouds floated across the brilliant blue expanse of the sky playing with the light from the blazing sun. The lakes surface was covered in small ripples as the light wind stirred them towards the shore, the surrounding trees stood like brightly coloured sentinels in keeping watch over the activities of the birds that floated effortlessly on the breeze.

Dettifoss is Europe's most powerful waterfall, located in the Vatnajökull National Park in the north-east of Iceland. Usually run over by tourists, we went there at 2am at night where we had the whole waterfall to ourselves. My friend John is standing at the cliff to take close up shots, while I was further away and taking shot with a long lens. He was so excited taking shots, repositioning himself, and taking more shots. I had a hard time catching up repositioning my camera from far away. For a brief moment he stood still, and I got this shot, which indicates the scale of Dettifoss.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The base of South Jetty, across the sandspit. Our favorite surfing spot as teens because it was hard to get to. Tourists and hodads would compete for space at the Rock while we paddled across the bay and hiked the sandspit to have the jetty all to ourselves.

Today is the birthday of Anya Dobrova – my good old friend and fair sister in arts, very talented collage artist, one of my best models and heroes of my photo-tales, parables and koans. I have deposits of her taken photos at my SSD. I made not that much of them, as they (and Anya) are deserving. Old friendship has its ups and downs, and seems that now is one of the downs. And I could make photos only of people who are inspiring me at the moment. A bit like making love. Because an art is in a way akin to love. Both are creative acts. It was partially because of one talk with Anya about another friendship of mine, which is at even more down stage now, and I felt that Anya is talking rather strange things about it. I was disappointed. This too shall pass, as wise man said. Anya is far too good for not make art with her. And one piece of good news is that life is unpredictable.

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

My Monday flower greeting today is also a summer greeting. After we dreamed ourselves into spring last time.
Beautiful cornflowers swim in a sea of golden grain (another golden sea, must be my color right now).
And so, with this dream of warm wind and the singing of the birds around you, I wish you a week full of wonderful dreams.
Because dreams are not but shadows (as the saying goes, which I can't stand at all). Dreams are the wings that let us soar. That take us to places that would otherwise be unreachable.
Dreams provide refuge, strength, energy and motivation. And they expand our horizons and thus the goals we set for ourselves. So my friends, then dream something nice (just please not in traffic or if you have to operate a dangerous machine. OK?).
Mein heutiger montäglicher Blumengruß ist zeitgleich auch ein Sommergruß. Nachdem wir uns beim letzten Mal in den Frühling geträumt haben.
Wunderschöne Kornblumen schwimmen in einem Meer aus goldenem Korn (schon wieder ein goldenes Meer, muss gerade irgendwie meine Farbe sein).
Und so wünsche ich Euch mit diesem Traum von warmem Wind und dem Gesang der Vögel um Euch herum eine Woche voller wundervoller Träume.
Denn Träume sind keine Schäume (wie ein Sprichwort sagt, was ich überhaupt nicht leiden kann). Träume sind die Flügel, die uns empor steigen lassen. Die uns an Orte bringen, die sonst unerreichbar wären.
Träume spenden Zuflucht, Kraft, Energie und Motivation. Und sie erweitern unseren Horizont und damit die Ziele, denen wir uns selbst stellen. Also meine Freunde, dann träumt was Schönes (Nur bitte nicht im Strassenverkehr oder wenn Ihr gerade eine gefährliche Maschine bedienen müsst. ok ?).

We can sit and gaze at it for hours.
It's luminous, it's warm, it's romantic; but most of all it's spiritual. (In what way spiritual? We can't really say, but it is spiritual.) A yellow droplet of light, laced with red, bright-white at the edges, and blue at the core as if dirtied by its contact with the material wick. But we didn't see all those colors until we counted them -- the flame itself is a perfect, integral whole, emanating calm and tranquility.
How, indeed, can something as agitated as the flame radiate such peace? For the flame is a clash of forces pulling in opposite directions. Look closely: see how it strains upward, striving to tear away from the wick which tethers it to the candle or lamp and lose itself in the great expanses of energy that gird the heavens. But look again, and see how it clings to the length of braided cotton that spears its heart and supplies it with the fuel that sustains its luminance and life. Back and forth, up and down it strives, vacillating between being and naught, between presence and oblivion.
"The soul of man is a candle of G-d" (Proverbs 20:27). For the soul of man, too, is a clash of divergent forces and contrary strivings.
We yearn to tear free of our "wick" -- of the body that anchors us to the physical reality and sullies us with physical needs and wants. We strive upwards, yearning to transcend the physical, the human and the particular, and fuse with the universal and the divine. At the same time, we cling to the body, to the bit of matter that sustains us as dynamic and productive participants in G-d's world.
It is this perpetual up-and-down, this incessant vacillation from selfhood to selflessness and back again, that we call life. It is this eternal tension between our desire to escape the physical and our commitment to inhabit it, develop it and sanctify it that makes us spiritual beings.
We can sit and gaze at the flame for hours, because we are gazing at ourselves.

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

We had the place to ourselves yesterday in the church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul in Olney, Buckinghamshire as the light shone in through the stained glass windows.
Beautiful depictions of the life of the Christ as well as one old testament panel.
The church had a pleasant feeling of lightness, with a faint aroma of beeswax and incense.

with masks called names
with beliefs clung to like panes

hiding the scars
the wounds like bars
on the spirits imprisoned
because we think

They hurt when we stretch
out our desires

yet

the truth and the pain
and so if we really want to gain
a measure of tranquility
we really must explain and exclaim
that this pain is for purpose
this hurt never must
be forgotten
give it as payment
a hell here on earth
that demands tolls
that extracts from the soil of our souls
this very life we cannot control
and thank the Lord everyday
that in His invisible Way
we can return to Him
the very thing
He gave us when He died
a life worth living
is a life worth forgiving

I read an article today that said that people experience their highest stress levels of the year during the Christmas season.
This starts with the Christmas decorations, goes through the procurement of gifts, various Christmas parties at the company, school or kindergarten through to the planning and organization of the Christmas dinner. Then there are the family obligations during the holidays (who is with whom and when?). Finally, in the post-Christmas period, it culminates in redeeming vouchers, exchanging gifts and clearing up the domestic chaos that the holidays have left behind (both organizationally and emotionally).
When I read this coherently, only one question comes to mind: "Why are we doing this to ourselves?"
Especially in view of the Christian history (very simple circumstances and only three visitors) and what Christmas actually stands for, much of the above is hardly comprehensible to me.
This effort is the complete opposite of what would actually be appropriate at this time of year and takes away so much of the meaning of the Christmas season.
And so I wish you that this week you have the opportunity to clear your head of all these “I have to, because that is what is expected of me” and to replace them with as many “I want to, because that makes me happy” as possible replace.

Hinzu kommen dann noch die familiären Verpflichtungen während der Feiertage (wer ist wann bei wem?). Schlußendlich gipfelt es dann in der Nach-Weihnachtszeit in dem Einlösen von Gutscheinen, dem Umtauschen von Geschenken und dem Beseitigen des häuslichen Chaos, welches die Feiertage hinterlassen haben (sowohl organsatorisch als auch emotional).
Wenn ich das so zusammenhängend lese, dann kommt mir nur eine Frage in den Sinn: "Warum tun wir uns das an?"
Vor allem im Hinblick auf die christliche Geschichte (sehr einfache Verhältnisse und nur drei Besucher) und dem, wofür Weihnachten eigentlich steht, ist für mich vieles von dem oben genannten kaum nachvollziehbar.
Dieser Aufwand ist das komplette Gegenteil von dem, was in dieser Zeit des Jashres eigentlich angebracht wäre und nimmt der Weihnachtszeit so viel von Ihrer eigentlichen Bedeutung.
Und so wünsche ich Euch, dass Ihr diese Woche die Gelegenheit habt den Kopf frei zu bekommen von all diesen "Ich muss, denn das wird von mir erwartet" und diese durch so viele "ich möchte, denn das macht mich glücklich" wie möglich zu erstetzen.

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

I think it's fair to say that the true measure of a society is on how it treats it's most vulnerable people.
Bearing in mind that any one of us can become disabled at any time through no fault of our own. The societal safety net that we all pay into during our lives is there for that very reason. To care for us if or when we are unable to care for ourselves.
We therefore owe it to ourselves to fight these welfare cuts, to put pressure on our MPs to vote against the changes. Don't just think about it, do it, let them know because one day it could be you that needs to depend upon them for survival.

Yes, this is the tale of Bridalveil, a waterfall you must have seen, most likely in the popular representative image of Yosemite – the Tunnel view. By virtue of being on such a prime location, I would hazard a guess that it is one of the most photographed waterfalls in the park. As a mighty 617 feet drop, this cascade deserves all the attention it gets – especially in spring when it is full bodied, loud, rambunctious, and utterly adorable. However, like all Yosemite waterfalls (except, Fern Spring), Bridalveil loses significant water volume in late summer. When Rishabh and I visited Yosemite recently on a beautiful august day, we found Bridalveil in a Dickinson-ian mood. Swayed by the warm afternoon breeze, the petite cataract oscillated in its granite amphitheater like visible musical notes of a sentimental song that courts immortality in a fleeting moment. I have seen a lot of waterfalls in various states of their being; however, this was the first seeing one get swept off its feet in a wild romance with the wind.
For we, when we feel, evaporate: oh, we
breathe ourselves out and away: from ember to ember,
yielding us fainter fragrance. Then someone may say to us:
‘Yes, you are in my blood, the room, the Spring-time
is filling with you’..... What use is that: they cannot hold us,
we vanish inside and around them. And those who are beautiful,
oh, who holds them back? Appearance, endlessly, stands up,
in their face, and goes by. Like dew from the morning grass,
what is ours rises from us, like the heat
from a dish that is warmed. O smile: where? O upward gaze:
new, warm, vanishing wave of the heart - :

A year ago we were happily enjoying ourselves at our holiday home in Cornwall, and no-one had heard of Coronavirus. Little did we know what lay in store as we visited some of our favourite places in the south-west of England.
The pretty little village of Polruan sits on a steep headland that provides shelter for the large deep-water harbour at Fowey in south-east Cornwall. It was traditionally a fishing and boat-building village. The village is on the east side of the River Fowey, with the small town of Fowey on the west side. As the river flows into the sea past Polruan it becomes very narrow and in medieval times a strong chain would be drawn across the river from small forts on either side to prevent enemy ships sailing into the wide harbour and attacking the town. This narrow lane, West Street, at the base of the headland leads to the fort - Polruan Castle - on the this side of the river. Believe it or not, local cars do drive down here.

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." 16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

We found ourselves at sunset without a plan. My mate John stayed put and got some lovely raking warm light across the tussock . I spotted a tarn that I was hoping might work for a nice reflection of the mountain which was a bit of a hike away. As it turned out the mountain stayed in cloud at the crucial moment but I did get a pleasant enough shot out towards the west for my troubles.
