Well OS/2 does work in QEMU, though I cheated a bit, I did this by doing the install in VMware Player and then using qemu-img to convert the file from a vmdk to a qcow.

.. and it doesn´t seem that "the leaving" was more than "convenience": shorter way to school, closer to the "comforts of modern civilization". Very often i forget, that people who live a necessarly simple life in nature "not always" feel "the romance" of it. What many of them want, is .. paved roads, lights in the streets, shops, electricity, the school for the children just to walk to .. and so on. So perhaps it wasn´t any "mystic" about the abandoning of Apolichnos .. Anyway i will present a few more pics coming up .. hope You enjoy them.
P.S.: There is another village a few kilometres from here, Listaros: it is known as the only village in Crete (to my knowledge), where it has (much) more "foreigners" than Cretans. And that goes back to "some strange happenings" about 20 years back and "the curse" of some kind of "witch".
But as it is a lot of "modern building" in Listaros it´s "charme" is pretty different :-)
And there is another village about 50 km from here, up in the mountains, Aradena. A huge brutal act of "Vendetta" back in the fivties of the 20th century; has "emptied" this place within a few days .. and the families till now didn´t dare to return, not to make "the wheel turn again". Now some few places start to be revovated - but still some kind of "scary atmosphere" is very present !! .. specially with THAT history in mind ...

Dyskos .. a small place next to Lentas, another small but beautiful place in southern Crete. One of the last places, where "old" and young "hippies" still can live their simple life in tents on the beach .. and are not "thrown out" by the land owners :-)) The window shown on this photography is just behind the bar of the cosy and relaxed taverna Odyssee in Dyskos ..

Steve was an OS2 on the USS Fresno when this was taken, circa 1976. Steve was heavy into photography and was the go-to guy for photos for the cruise-book. Besides my older brother he was one of the first techno geeks I ever knew. I've made several attempts to locate him but no luck so far. All I know is that he was fron San Louis Obispo, CA. Steve...if you're out there give a shout!

The Proud Lion once again meets the Black Lion. The Quarterdeck flags and Navy Jack from USS Ponce (LPD 15) meet again the last F-14D Tomcat to fly a combat mission, VF-213 aircraft BuNo 161159. The flags are held by (right; holding the Navy flag) former OS2 David Allen of USS Ponce and (left; holding the Navy Jack) retired MCC Nathanael Miller. Miller served in VF-213 from 2000 - 2002, and worked on this actual aircraft during his time with the Black Lions of VF-213. Miller would later serve as public affairs officer aboard the Proud Lion, USS Ponce, from 2010 - 2012. Miller and Allen were shipmates aboard Ponce. National Museum of Naval Aviation, Pensacola, Florida. (Nicky Allen, 12 September 2022).

September .. and these flowers are spreading across the sand all over .. iM always wondering HOW they can live! .. as it is completely dry after months without rain. But these beautiful plants are welcoming autumn .. when temperatures finally drop to a very pleasent level .. and clouds and a few days of hard rain will soon come .. to transform the whole landscape within hours :-))))
