A vermicomposting bucket is mixed with food waste and worms. Several different species of worms such as Canadian nightcrawlers, red wigglers or earthworms are excellent at decomposing organic waste products and turn those throwaway food scraps, paper or yard waste into compost as beneficial soil amendments. Compost is the key to organic farming and researchers at MU's Bradford Research Center in Columbia are looking at ways to make this style of food production more efficient and affordable.

I got this in my organic veggie box and I didn't know what it was so I posted this picture in a group on Facebook and I finally got the answer that it is Kohlrabi. I have quite a few recipes too, but I still need to decide what to make. I'm thinking some kind of fresh salad.
Polenta is a finely ground cornmeal that cooks up quickly for a creamy and satisfying side dish. Add a little butter and Parmesan cheese at the end of cooking for a mouthwatering richness.

Wanted to bring out one of my speedlites for this shot. Finally got around to doing this one. Thought it would be something different. Notice my other shot of this clock and cup o grass without the use of a speedlite. Basically the speedlite just helped brighten it up a bit.
STROBIST INFO: 1 bare 580EX II subject left @ 1/8 power pointed at popcorn ceiling to light up from above. Also used sheet of glass to give a much richer reflection.

Also used ambient lighting from window above using blinds to adjust amount of light to allow in.

Yesterday marked a month since my friend's sister's death. Her and her family have learned some things about her death and my friend is getting the word out to her friends. After posting a note on Facebook about Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), many people reposted it to their profiles. It was amazing to see how many people wanted to spread the word. I was grateful for my friends that didn't even know this family for reposting the note.
While out on my birthday extravaganza, day 2, my friend and I went to Whole Foods. I decided to buy some organic tampons since they aren't made with the kinds of materials that can cause harm.
