An Orb Weaver Spider with a web suspended between the blades of Reed Canary-grass (Phalaris arundinacea var. arundinacea). The grass is growing in the water immediately adjacent to the steep bank forming the north shore of Edgelaw Reservoir, Temple, Midlothian, Scotland.

Orb is a back of room, look at the corner above the wooden chest. Best viewed if you zoom in

I'm not sure how to explain this strange glowing object that seems to move across the upper right... We took this last night in our backyard. Ideas? It looks even stranger when you blow it up...???

Taken out at the Baylands Trails, in Sunnyvale. This kind of orb weaver seems to like to fold it's legs up long in front and back of itself. Here it is using that to fit on a blade of grass whilst keeping one or two legs on its web.

beautiful orbs dancing around my moon painting

a photo taken when the ligts went out (blackouts are frequent in the Philippines) during an evening worship service. These are not dust specs nor raindrops on the lens. More photos of similar orbs were subsequently found on shots taken during the same evening from two different cameras.

Orb probably caused by rain in Waimanalo, Hawaii.

ORB Kentucky Derby Winner 2013 ♥ Praying for the Favor of God for a Triple Crown Winner ♥

Lots of orbs here. There had been many activities here, both when the mine was active, and from visitors since.

Orb has one last breeze at Fair Hill on 08-10-2013.

I don't remember what setting I used here, but I remember I had the flash on...these aren't "orbs," but raindrops...when the flash illuminated/bounced off of them it turned them into orbs and then I had to tweak them further, of course! LOL

Orb in front of the mirror, as reflection is there. Zoomed in you can see a face in this one.

possibly an orb in front of a tree trunk in the left side of the picture.

Lives in a window well outside the front door of my building.

Always a thing of beauty, the web of the orb weaver spider. JWildfire 3.1 HDR render

Taken on Easter, 2007. My mother died July 15, 2006. I didn't go to her funeral. Now was the time for me to have closure. My daughter went with me to put flowers on her grave. On the way out of the cemetary, we stopped, got out of the Blazer and snapped this photo at random. There were many orbs and what appeared to be ribbon lights starting to come up from the grass. As you can see, we were facing west and the sun was setting. That particular orb in the sky was not the moon. When this photo is blown up, it appears there is a face in the orb. Freaky, isn't it?

Orb Weaver Spider Eriophora.

Backyard, Preston.

is it paranormal or dust ?? I believe orbs are no more than dust. this orb even looks like it has some weight behind it check out the impression under it.

if you enhance the photo you notice the impression seems to go into the bench as well its no more than a trick that the lighting in the room is playing.

orb in the ceiling area

Captured in frontyard, in the orange/lime tree.

Some species from the Araneidae family (common orb weavers). Obviously female. I think the genus is Neoscona.

3 pics in sequence, aprox. 2 sec between each other, from the same angle. Orbs at my parents house in Guadalajara, Mexico.

New Year's Eve Party - Look at the cigar!

I was taking photos of a cabbage moth in this lavendar bush for 20 minutes before I noticed this little guy. Not sure what species she is, some type of orb spider I think, maybe Eriophora heroine or Eriophora transmarina.

This photo was taken in Lithgow, NSW, Australia.

The legs of orb-weaver spiders are specialized for spinning orb webs. The webs are built by the larger females who hang head down in the center of the web or remain hidden in nearby foliage, with one claw hooked to a signal line connected to the main orb waiting for a disturbance to signal the arrival of prey. Prey is then quickly bitten and wrapped in silk before being stored for later consumption. The initial bite serves to paralyze the prey and minimize the danger of the spider herself being stung or bitten, and the enzymes thus injected serve to begin liquefaction of the prey's internal structures.

A. diadematus is a reclusive creature and only bites humans if cornered or otherwise provoked. The bite is not unlike a mild bee sting.[4]

Some orb-web spiders (e.g., Neoscona arabesca) routinely recycle the metabolically costly silk by disassembling and eating their webs in the morning or evening, depending on the species' diurnal or nocturnal nature, or in anticipation of a thunderstorm. This complex process can take just a few minutes.[7]

Trying to take pics of the full moon over a local cemetery. When I checked images out, some had these orbs, and some taken from the same position did not. I've never had orbs on an image, and until tonight, thought it was a bunch of bull. If you look at the series of images you can see that some have moved in relation to the moon. No snow, no wind, no rain. Any explanation? I have an image on my Flikr page of this same shot taken at the same time without any orbs.

imágen no muy nítida, hay un gran orb en el centro.

una de las cosas que nos llaman la atención es que en fotos desenfocadas los orbs parecen salir enfocados.

I had just been reading about this phenomenon and I was outside later that night to take some photos of Timmy. I decided to take some photos of the pond while the waterlily's are still blooming. I didn't see the orb until later when I unloaded the camera. This was the only shot that was this bright, some others had some very dim almost unnoticeable orb's showing up.

Here's the website I was reading: www.unknowncountry.com/edge/sphere/

It's Whitley Streibers website. One of my favorite authors.
