Ocellaris clownfish
The Ocellaris Clownfish, Clownfish or False Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) is a popular aquarium fish. It is very closely related to A. percula, the Orange Clownfish or "True Percula Clownfish", and often lives in association with the sea anemone Heteractis magnifica, using them for shelter and protection. Generally, Ocellaris clownfish are hardier, and slightly less aggressive than its Percula counterpart. Both species are found in coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific, particularly in the Fiji and Tonga regions.
This clown anemonefish can be recognised by its orange colour with three white bars and black markings on the fins. It grows to about eight centimeters (three inches) in length. One can differentiate between Percula (true) and Ocellaris (false) by their respective colors and patterns. Ocellaris are usually less vibrantly colored, and have 11 dorsal fin-spines instead of 10, as on the Percula. Also, the species have different eye arrangements: Percula have bright orange irises, making their eyes appear smaller, whereas Ocellaris have grey/orange irises which make the species eyes appear bigger.
There is a rare melanistic variety hailing from the reefs around Darwin, Australia, that is a darker colour with the normal white stripes. Although not common in the wild, they are becoming more and more popular in the aquarium hobby.
Phylogeny:
The species Amphiprion ocellaris are related to the class Osteichthyes which contains bony fish and ray-finned fish. A. ocellaris is the most basal species in the genus Amphiprion which is closely related to the genera Premnas. The species' most closely related ancestor is Amphiprion percula, the Orange Clownfish. It is thought that A. ocellaris specialized after diverging from the Premnas genus, and scientific evidence confirms that all clownfish belonging to the genus Amphiprion could withstand the stings of only one type of anemone, after further diverging the 28 different species of clownfish including A. ocellaris specialized to be able to resist the poisonous stings of many different species.
Analogous structures:
Clownfish have many structures which are analogous with other species, the distinctive stripes found on the clownfish can be seen in few animals. Lampropeltis triangulum elapsoidesor otherwise known as the Scarlet King Snake has a well-defined pattern of red, black and yellow bands. These two structures both have characterises that are similar in use, the bands of each species help warn off predators if the animal is in danger. These bands also help camouflage both organisms in each of their different environments. The bright orange base striped with white found on the clownfish allows it to be undetected in its surroundings of fluorescent corals and anemones.
Homologous structures:
All fish have a mucus membrane surrounding their scales. The mucus usually contains high amounts of lipids and glycoproteins; however, the family Pomacentridae (anemone fish) have a special adaptation where the mucus coating the species is a great deal thicker. Also the protective layer lacks a specific substance that triggers nematocysts (the stings of an anemone); this allows the fish immunity against the toxic stings. Little is known about the mucus except that it is a genetically inherited trait and passed through the generations of each species. In other families of fish, the mucus is used as protection against harmful bacteria, an osmotic regulator and also aids the fish in nest making. The difference in mucuses has led to the divergent path of anemone fish and other species.
Clownfish are initially male; the largest fish in a group becomes female.

he 2003 Disney/Pixar film, Finding Nemo featured the clown fish duo, Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould) a juvenile clownfish, the title character/Marlin's son, and Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) as Nemo's overprotective father.

Peixe-palhaço
Peixe-palhaço, ou peixe-das-anêmonas é o nome vulgar das espécies da subfamília Amphiprioninae na família Pomacentridae. Existem cerca de 27 espécies, uma das quais pertence ao gênero Premnas, pertencendo os outros ao gênero tipo Amphiprion. Deve o seu nome à forma desalinhada como nada.
As espécies assim designadas são nativas de uma vasta região compreendida em águas tépidas do Pacífico, coexistindo algumas espécies em algumas dessas regiões. São famosos devido à relação ecológica de protocooperação que estabelecem com as anêmonas-do-mar ou, em alguns casos, com corais. Primitive HaLLoWeeN Gingerbread Trick or Treat Doll
This Gingerbread cutie is handmade by me :O) She measures about 6“ tall (not including hanger), and she is made from brown cotton fabric. Gingerbread blouse and bloomer is orange and her skirt is green with pumpkins and cats. She has a bow that matches her blouse, and in the center a pumpkins button. She has two beads buttons for eyes. I hand stitched her nose with orange DMC embroidery thread. She has embroidery thread hanger attached to the top of her head,for hanging on a tree, wreath or wall. She comes with a small Halloween bag... Too Cute !
She will come to you already packaged in a cellophane bag, ready to give as a wonderful gift to that special someone, or for yourself... :)

The Port Authority Building (Dutch: Havenhuis), or the Port House, is a government building located in Antwerp, Belgium, built between 2009 and 2016. It is located near the area of Eilandje, in the Port of Antwerp, and acts as the new headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority, housing various departments. Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, the building opened in 2016, the year of her death. It is the sole government building designed by Hadid. The design of the building incorporates the use of a fire station, integrating it into the building. Attached above and connected to the fire station is a contemporary diamond-shaped structure marked by straight edges, with an additional column providing support from the floor.
The building houses approximately 500 employees, and acts as a meeting place for international contacts of the Antwerp port community. According to the Antwerp Port Authority, the building is meant to "symbolise the dynamic, reliable, ambitious and innovative nature" of the Port of Antwerp
The expansion of the building is located directly above the renovated fire station. It has a glass-covered facade to "reflect the complex interaction of shades and colours in the air", a reference to the building's location surrounded by water. The volume measures over 100 meters in length. The expansion resembles the hull of a sailing ship, with a protruding bowspirit and the surface of the facets of a diamond facing the Kattendijk dock. This is also a reference to Antwerp's association with the diamond industry.
The exterior of the "diamond" consists of transparent and opaque triangular facets. This allowed the architects to control the amount of sunlight entering the building. The placement of the facets mimicks the nearby River Scheldt. Project manager Joris Pauwels stated that concrete pillars and 900 tonnes of steel hold the glass workspace above the former fire station. A bridge level joins the two structures and gives employees a 360-degree view of the public square and the Scheldt below.
The design of the building took energy efficiency into account, reaching a 'Very Good' BREEAM environmental rating. A borehole energy system pumps water to a depth of 80 meters below grade in over 100 locations around the building to provide heating and cooling. The company Cegelec was in charge of installing and unifying the energy networks of the two buildings, with the insertion of plastic pipes to achieve an energy storage volume of 12 cubic metres.
The restored and preserved fire truck hall contains a public reading room and a library. The whole building has a total floorplan of 12,800 square metres, with 6,600 square metres in the refurbished fire station and a further 6,200 square metres in the extension.

Haridwar or Hardwar is an ancient & sacred town at the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand, India. The holy river Ganga starts its journey through the plain land of India from Haridwar. Har-Ki-Pauri is the sacred site where Hindus from all over the world take holy dips in the Ganga , which, they believe, will free them from all sins. The ambience of this place is just seen to be believed. Thousands of people, with dazzling variations in their appearances, dresses, languages & customs but with a common belief in the scripts of Hinduism mingle here with a common purpose of a holy dip in the Ganga. Holymen or Sadhus of different sects roam freely, usually with a more earthly purpose of catching prosperous clients! Sellers of different commodities wait patiently for the customers. Devils Tower is an igneous intrusion or laccolith located in the Black Hills near Hulett and Moorcroft in Crook County, Wyoming above the Belle Fourche River. It rises dramatically 1,267 feet above the surrounding terrain (the summit is 5,112 feet above sea level).
Devils Tower was the first declared United States National Monument, established on September 24, 1906, by President Theodore Roosevelt. The Monument's boundary encloses an area of 1,347 acres.
It has become an iconic symbol of the American West, especially after it was featured prominently in the 1977 Academy Award winning movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
This is a photograph from the 2nd round of the 2017 Pat Finnerty Memorial 5KM Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 10th May 2017 at 20:00. The Road League is promoted and organised by Mulligar Harriers Athletic Club and sponsored by local sponsors including O'Brien's Renault dealership. This is a very well established as an annual event which takes place on every Wednesday night in the month of May. Following on from the great weather from last week's race this evening's racing was no different - a beautiful summer evening with little or no breeze. About 220 participants took part in the race which runs a traffic free course over a mix of road and hilly forest trail.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Ernesto "Che" Guevara (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtʃe ɣeˈβaɾa];[7] June 14,[1] 1928 – October 9, 1967), commonly known as el Che or simply Che, was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat, and military theorist. A major figure of the Cuban Revolution, his stylized visage has become a ubiquitous countercultural symbol of rebellion and global insignia in popular culture.[8]
As a young medical student, Guevara traveled throughout South America and was radicalized by the poverty, hunger, and disease he witnessed.[9] His burgeoning desire to help overturn what he saw as the capitalist exploitation of Latin America by the United States prompted his involvement in Guatemala's social reforms under President Jacobo Árbenz, whose eventual CIA-assisted overthrow at the behest of the United Fruit Company solidified Guevara's political ideology.[9] Later, in Mexico City, he met Raúl and Fidel Castro, joined their 26th of July Movement, and sailed to Cuba aboard the yacht, Granma, with the intention of overthrowing U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.[10] Guevara soon rose to prominence among the insurgents, was promoted to second-in-command, and played a pivotal role in the victorious two-year guerrilla campaign that deposed the Batista regime.[11]
Following the Cuban Revolution, Guevara performed a number of key roles in the new government. Such positions also allowed him to play a central role in training the militia forces who repelled the Bay of Pigs Invasion[13] and bringing the Soviet nuclear-armed ballistic missiles to Cuba which precipitated the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.[14] Additionally, he was a prolific writer and diarist, composing a seminal manual on guerrilla warfare, along with a best-selling memoir about his youthful continental motorcycle journey. More fun with the Pro HDR iPhone app. The program automatically analyzes the scene, takes two exposures and merges them within seconds, producing some pretty impressive results. All I had to do was keep the phone relatively steady. A little extra post-prod done in PS for white-balance, sharpening and noise reduction.

De tentoonstelling Or How Life Could Be toont een achttiental kunstenaars waarvan het merendeel nog niet eerder werk getoond heeft binnen de Nederlandse landgrenzen. De samenstelling bestaat uit vrienden en bekenden en is daardoor erg persoonlijk en luchtig. Bij Or How Life Could Be worden de grenzen en mogelijkheden van het idee “de tentoonstelling” als sociaal draagvlak binnen de kunst onderzocht. Internationaal gevestigde namen en minder bekende kunstenaars krijgen dezelfde behandeling waardoor een spontanere smeltkroes ontstaat waarbij de fabel van high- en low-art voorgoed van tafel geveegd kan worden.
Turriabla is home the University CATIE and is host to wealth of forestry projects. As one drives through the area it is not common to find many shade coffee plantations, polyculture plantations or biodiversity corridors. It is a beautiful part of Costa Rica that is under intensive land use.
