Well folks we've come to the end of another sunset series and I hope that you've enjoyed them. Newport is such a magical place and I keep getting drawn back there time and again. A break in posting now follows as I have two very important people coming to stay who will give me little time for anything else. My two grandsons 7 and nearly 5 have been entrusted into my care for the next week. I wish you all a great weekend and week ahead and I will be back in eight days or so, if I survive :o)

Garcinia prainiana, known as the button mangosteen or cherapu is a species of Garcinia. It has a flavor similar to, but distinct from, its cousin, the purple mangosteen, with an interesting taste some have compared to a tangerine, but unlike its cousin, it has a tissue-thin skin rather than a hard rind, making it much easier to eat out-of-hand. Also unlike the purple mangosteen, it can be grown in a container.
The fruit is cultivated in Southeast Asia, by a few backyard growers in South Florida and at the Whitman Rare Fruit Pavilion of Florida's Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
And yes, that is the front wall of the Rare Fruit Pavilion behind me that is being reflected in the large water drop at the center of this ruby red beauty!

Ruby-throated Hummingbird, young male
The adults are frequent visitors to this patch of Beebalm. I wonder whether the young are taught where to find this great source of nectar or if they are innately attracted to it, due to the nature of its flowers?
With the changing weather conditions between fog and sun, there were some great moments where cloud blew over the top of Haystack Rock.
Haystack Rock is a 235-foot (72-meter) sea stack or monolith, formed by lava flows.
Cannon Beach was a chance to relax and have fun on a good old fashioned sandy beach. Well kept, smart place.
The Lighthouse Inn did its job nicely, and was well located close to the beach and restaurants.

ʻĀwikiwiki or Oʻahu jackbean*
Fabaceae (Legume or Pea family)
Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands (Oʻahu)
Photo: Oʻahu (Cultivated)
There are six endemic species of Canavalia in the Hawaiian Islands--one is IUCN listed as Vulnerable and three as Critically Endangered. Canavalia galeata, though not listed as yet, is getting difficult to find in it's natural habitat.

Early Hawaiians made roughly constructed fish nets and traps from stems and scoop nets probably made from ʻāwikiwiki vines for small rock paoʻo (blennies) and ʻopae (freshwater shrimps). Isabella Abbott notes that "crude, temporary traps were improvised from vines such as ʻāwikiwiki (Canavalia galeata)."
A topical for skin disorders was made from leaf buds, leaves, bark, and roots.
The pua (flowers) of ʻāwikiwiki were and still are used for lei making.
Etymology
The generic name Canavalia comes from the Indian kanavali, a common name for Canavalia maritima.
The specific epithet galeata is from the Latin galeatus, helmet-, or skull-, shaped.

* The name ʻāwikiwiki comes from wikiwiki meaning fast or speedy, referring to its rapid growth rate. Oʻahu jackbean is a vernacular name of unknown origin.
Yesterday, I found this Harpocera thoracica (f), with what looked like Cordyceps errupting from her back. I did wonder if it might just have been a stamen stuck there! But it looked quite convincing! Anyway, I tweeted photos, and this morning, after someone asked if I'd looked more closely at it, I checked it under the microscope, and found that it was a flower stamen after all!!! How much of an idiot do I feel??! Why didn't I follow my instinct and check first??! I did tweet again to put my mistake right!! So funny! 😂

I had named them Red-billed Oxpeckers (Buphagus erythrorhynchus), but they are in fact Yellow-billed Oxpeckers (Buphagus africanus) on a Common eland (Taurotragus oryx). In the Red-Billed, their entire bill is red.

Rather than being a single structure, the Thai Grand Palace is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards. Its asymmetry and eclectic styles are due to its organic development, with additions and rebuilding being made by successive reigning kings over 200 years of history.
" Crafting homes that allure, but only a few possess the art of making a house a cherished haven.
Salt air whispers against pages, stories intertwine with sun-kissed skin. Her gaze, adrift on an endless horizon, seeks not words but a reflection of self. Houses, faces, fleeting warmth – echoes of belonging yet none a true resting place. The question hangs heavy, unanswered, 'Is this where I finally settle, or just another loving page, another chapter in my love song?' "

. . . The Unreached Destination . . .
"It is not the destination, but the journey that matters." - T.S. Eliot
In her journey through life, she explored various houses and stayed with different people. Many tried to create a home that suited her tastes, decorating in ways they thought would please her.
However, despite having many homes and companions, the concept of a meaningful home remained elusive. Traveling through the virtual world for over 12 years, she encountered numerous places and faces, yet the feeling of solitude persisted. Though surrounded by others, even though she is the anchor for many people, the search for a genuine and lasting home continued. Since no one could be her anchor, an independent life became a cold path, freezing her heart until it couldn't feel a thing, even with much love surrounding her.
Deep emptiness persisted as the question 'Where is your home?' echoed, and the pursuit of meaning and belonging still continued, as if there were no destination for a free soul like hers.
Houses rise and fall, loved ones come and go, yet the road whispers on, an endless search for the elusive haven called home. Will it be found in the sun-kissed pages of a book, or the rhythm of the tide? Only the whispers of the wind know.

Her answers when it's about an anchor and a true home.
" My happiness resonates with yours, woven with a tenderness you might not expect. My life flourishes independently, my wings may be familiar with only solo flights, darling, but with you, the sky takes on a radiant shimmer. Not a lifeline, but a more splendid vista. You truly add sweetness to my laughter, make my champagne fizzier.
You're not a necessity, but a cherished upgrade. With you, the view becomes more enchanting, and the laughter richer.
Is it selfish? Perhaps. Is it wise? Absolutely. Call it selfish, call it smart, I choose the penthouse, darling, not the real anchor. Yes, a feel-like anchor blows my mind the best, but no, not a real anchor. Baby, I'm too independent to need it.
In the years of my past, yes, we danced in this borrowed sunrise, all my partners must always be painfully aware that any sunset could whisk it away. No expectations, just the exquisite present. That's all I've offered for 12 years, and that's all I've ever needed. I always said, 'Take it or leave it' - my haven hasn't swayed with the tide, no guarantees, just the exquisite. Or take it or leave it - this heart yearns only for sunsets, never for chains.
Yet now, I've embraced change, a new me and a tide I've never experienced before. All to bring us happiness, allowing this relationship to flourish in the best way possible.
Still, there are no anchors here, just wider open arms, and the choice is always yours. "
Your move, firecracker

D/s involves the dynamic between two people: one independent and the other dependent.
A: My life 'needs' you to be a part of it always.
B: My life 'prefers' having you, it's always a better life with you in it.
ღ.-:**★**:-.ღ.-:**★**:-.ღ.-:**★**:-.ღ
" Perhaps I don't need you like a ship needs an anchor, or a bird, a nest. But I choose you, every fluttering beat of my heart a whispered preference. To be with you is to paint the horizon with rainbows, to dance with fireflies under stolen starlight. And though it may seem like a selfish waltz, a whispered plea for permanence, know this my love: the thought of stopping this exquisite choreography, of silencing the symphony we create, tears at the very fibers of my being...
So we walk hand in hand, my nomad love, into the unknown. We chase sunsets and build castles of sand, knowing the tide may reclaim them. But in each grain of laughter, in each stolen kiss, there is a whispered "forever," a fervent hope that our dreams may one day find a home within each other's hearts.. 💕 "
