Optimistic sunset shot looking toward the Buachaille Etive Mor from near Blackrock cottage. Alas the cloud shrouding the iconic munro did not budge. Entrance to Glencoe is on the right of the image with the route to Glen Etive on the left into the light..
I was optimistic that the sun would disperse the cloud I saw early this morning but I drove for 45 minutes to Ballycastle without a break in the sky. On my way back, I saw in the rear view mirror that that sun had indeed come out over the sea and also over the hills above the town but there was no turning back as I'd noticed my favourite place for breakfast of bacon and eggs at the harbour was closed today :(
Found in the old folder while looking for some image... Overused idea, but still so fresh... and so much symbolism...
Despite its name, the Woods betwen Rearsby and Brooksby on the Melton line are quite stunning with little lakes and the River Wreake running through it.
In addition to the River there is also a wide variety of Railfreight also running through. On October 6th 2017 37800 powers through dragging 387160 as 5X47 Old Dalby - Derby Litchurch Lane

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. ~Elwyn Brooks White, Essays of E.B. White, 1977

You Can Find Beauty in Anything... If You are Willing to See It [120/365] - Today marks 120 days into Project 365... 4 months of 2009 have already passed and it seems like it was only a couple of weeks ago that we rang in the New Year! It's silly to say, but this photo project has quite possibly changed my life! Maybe not drastically, but I'd be lying if I said that it hasn't made an impact. Not only did it inspire me to upgrade my camera, but it's motivated me to actually leave my house, stretch my imagination and search for beauty in things I'd never look at twice before. I've got a long way to go before I can confidently say that I know what I'm doing, but learning is part of the fun.
A lot of things in life are really great right now. I could list them but that would take all night. On the small scale of things, it's the end of the work week and I have some pretty exciting weekend plans. Life is so much better when you force yourself to be optimistic.
PS.. The forest was so pretty today, and I wanted to explore it more and take some fun photos. Unfortunately there were some creepy forest folks lingering and they made me a bit nervous. What would I do, hit them with my tripod? Haha.
OH and before I forget... a huge thank you to Anita and Mel for the testimonials! You ladies are so awesome!!!

She is humble, optimistic, mild-mannered, and extremely kind.
She gave Dorothy a powerful magical kiss on her forehead that protected her from being abused by any who would wish her harm.
Her whole ensemble can be found at PurpleMoon for Only L$100 from Oct 26 to Nov 1. It includes, gown, sleeves, crown and staff.

Fall is a season of change
Bright vivid colours...the last hoorah of the season...before it lets nature sleep.
It also gives us a lesson of season..and change....and realizing the beauty before us.
Change is natural...and what lies ahead....can not always be what one expects......but for us to gather strength to deal with the things that can not be changed....
Fall gives us hope....and a passion to be optimistic in anything that lies before us....
The We're Here! gang is looking for optimistic cloudgoats today. This one thinks he's going to get fried eggs for breakfast...but they are only "fried-egg poppies", not the real thing.
This has nothing to do with the photo, I just like the proverb !!
“Fear less, hope more; Eat less, chew more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Love more, and all good things will be yours"

This mother turkey seems to be getting started way too late in the season. I took these this morning. Her nest is along a fence between Hwy 94 and a rail corridor in St. Paul. When she stands the piece of styrofoam rises. When she sits it covers her and her 12 eggs. The cars on 94 were roaring by at 65 MPH 20 feet behind me as I shot. Those are railroad tracks behind the fence in the background. I took a few shots and left when she stood up. I didn't want to stress her. I'm afraid she has enough to worry about.
A few days ago we had snow on deck for the Sunday forecast at lower elevations. Plenty of precipitation and the temperatures were supposed to dip below freezing, but just barely. As is often the case, the snowflake has turned into a more familiar rain cloud....bummer.
I really hope we get snow in Portland this winter. I know I can head east and get all the snow I can handle, but the city just looks so pretty under a fresh coat.

Hi guys, I am back. Again. I can't believe how many times I said I was back and then I disappeared again. My life is crazy, yep.
I've been having a -not so great- summer, but photography makes it better, so much better. I've been trying to photograph more often and I've met so many wonderful strangers becoming my friends just because of photography. My dad is fighting cancer and I feel like giving up sometimes, but I know that is not what he wants. Sometimes life is unfair and you just gotta live with it. You can embrace your life full of imperfections, or you can be angry at life and just be exhausted by this pointless anger. I always choose to be optimistic and ride with all the obstacles I encounter.
I am leaving my country (Italy) to go to college in Los Angeles. I am really excited and I hope my dreams can become reality.
I also created a NEW youtube account. I want this channel to be an outlet for my creativity, and I don't want it to be just about photography. I want to share my travels, my life between two countries and my growth.
Tell me something you want to know about me in the comments and I'll reply, if you don't want to..mh..that's alright! Have a great day!

We're Here! : Optimistic Cloudgoat
Strobist: AB1600 with gridded 60X30 softbox camera right. Triggered by Cybersync.
A pretty pair we were at Culburra this morning,
Optimistically walking out in very light rain, with an eye on the clearer skies to the South, willing them to come this way. To no avail though, heavy rain snuck in from the North and then when it seemed impossible, it intensified into a torrential downpour!
Two very wet photographers finally called it a day and swam back to the cars and a cup of hot coffee!
Taken from under the umbrella in the middle of the downpour.
