How thrilled we were to see a baby !! I had photographed many red eyed tree frogs but never had I the opportunity ti see one. They are so small that it was a challenge to get an image of one . too cute !!!!!
Wishing you a lovely and blessed day !!
There was a brief window of opportunity when the clouds cleared and the sunshine illuminated the Elan Valley. I walked around taking as many pictures as I could before the clouds came back.
Windows of Opportunity is a macro photograph of a Ficus leaf. This version blended the black and white version with the original, which was photographed on a light box.. A filter was added at 15 percent opacity to warm the leaf up a little bit. I will be off for two weeks starting tomorrow! Have a creative fortnight!
I came upon a serendipity moment the other morning as I noticed a perfect little window in the trees that let in the light & gave me a peak at the world beyond. This little window was created by Mother Nature and luckily I had my camera handy so that I could capture the magic while it lasted. I call this a window of opportunity.
Second time that I have the opportunity to see this nice red fox.
I could do one photo not far form her ( it is a female ) and then few from far away when she was hunting.
So this photo is a full cropped view (2k over 8k) to make a kind of portrait of this nice young fox.
I used the photo done as she was near to me +/-20m to make this crop.
I'll post a larger view of this photo later.

A walk in a small, local woodland provided a good opportunity to study the body of some of the oak trees while they are bare in the winter months
If opportunity doesn't knock, get a door. - Milton Berle
Photo taken at Naturally Naughty Studios.
An image from last spring in Prince Edward County - I have one week or work travel before I get a chance to head back there for a few days to check in on the migration.
Last year my visit coincided with a major push of Grosbeaks and Orioles, and they were everywhere along the shore, in flocks. I had not witnessed a landing by so many of a single species before, let alone a species that one is lucky to find, let alone photograph, in Ottawa.
My preference is always to find birds in habitat and to situate them as such in images, but every once in a while opportunities arise for a completely clean image.
Poor Roy decided not to go shooting with me on this night......Sorry, you missed out!
GPS is not the exact spot of the shot.

TURN A DIFFICULTY INTO A NEW OPPORTUNITY
LUCKY OPPORTUNITY to photograph one of these Slim and Savage predators, active by day and night, it relentlessly tracks down its prey by scent. It often kills prey more than twice its size, biting deeply into the neck.
Captured at Elmley Nature Reserve in Kent.

Before he heads to school, the little prince helps water the neighborhood plants.
Skippy smiles, noticing his fox friend, and lovingly chuckles,
"Thank you for carrying my book bag. You're a great friend!"

Mossy Throne - Recently, I had a dream encounter of a Gray Fox kit relaxing in a mossy Bigleaf Maple in the wilderness. Despite seeing several Gray Foxes over the years, I never had the opportunity to photograph kits before, let alone in a tree.
Gray Foxes fascinate me because they are the oldest extant lineage of canid (which means they branched off from other canids the longest time ago). They are not closely related to red foxes and consume more berries/vegetation than their more carnivorous distant relative. They also have several other unique adaptations and behaviors such as semi-retractile claws and tree-climbing.
It was challenging to expose the fox's eyes and avoid blowing the background - but I tried my best to do so real time. Special thanks to a good friend for making this opportunity possible.

This is a traditional Yorkshire fishing vessel called a "Coble" that once fished out of Scarborough..It now lies in a semi-derelict state at South Ferriby on the banks of the River Humber,
View from the Sedrun multi functional station inside the Gotthard base tunnel.
The exit of the tunnel in this direction is 20 km away, in the other direction it is even 37 km away.
By chance I had the opportunity to visit the tunnel through the SBB gottardino program. Once the tunnel goes into full operation in December 2016, it will no longer be possible for the public to have such a close look.
In Parkes, NSW, for the David Malin Awards, I was told the normal floodlighting on The Dish radio telescope would be turned off to allow a timelapse to be made for the CSIRO. I hadn't planned to shoot The Dish as many others already have, but without the excess lighting, and given I didn't find a better site I thought I should try. Sigma lens, processed in Lightroom.

Not classic photography
But different photography
And I'm always interested in something different!
One piece of wood, so many photo ops. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, just north of Half Moon bay, California.

This Barn Owl was perched on the post behind the tree making it difficult to get a good angle for a shot, when a brief gust of wind moved the branches allowing me to capture this photo, hence the title.
The sparrowhawk is surely one of the UK's most striking raptors.
Unfortunately this male's own strike was far from successful and his chosen prey had long since fled when I took this shot.

Many thanks to all those who take the time to comment on my photos. It is truly appreciated.
When I was sent to Battle Creek to work nights for a couple days a few years ago when they were cutting over CP Baron, I wanted to visit the small farm town of Bellevue about 10 miles east of the yard. The perfect opportunity presented itself in the form of a pair of barns on A451. After snaking my way through the god-awful twisting roads in that area, it wasn't long before the pair came out of the dark and passed the classic mill in the heart of town that seems to be the victim of an eccentric painter.
There has been a significant amount of rain over the past week or so and as a consequence the route of my daily walk to the North Downs has thrown up some different photo opportunities!
(Still on day 1 of our vacation...stop at Taupo...we spend a few hours in and around Taupo and quickly visited a few places ... will post photos soon).
The lakeside town of Taupo provides a base for visitors who love to fish for trout, ski Mount Ruapehu and explore the local geothermal phenomena. Popular Taupo experiences include Huka Falls, geothermal walks, a prawn farm, lake cruises, New Zealand's first public cable wakeboarding park and guided kayak expeditions to see the rock carvings at Mine Bay.
Taupo is a fantastic region for year-round mountain biking, with the recent completion of the Great Lake Trail. Along with cycling, there's excellent hiking and golf opportunities.
My appreciation and thanks to all of you for your comments awards and faves !!!!
Opportunities are rare sometimes. Bummer when you miss them but you have to move on. Have a wonderful Friday and a terrific weekend.

Road Trip 2013 - Day 15 - June 25 - Pecos National Historical Park
...At the end of the park loop we explored the ruins of an old Spanish Mission. A bit of a bittersweet feeling. One one hand, it looked to be a wonderful structure back in the day, on the other, it was quite an intrusion to the lives of the Cicuye village people ...
Road Trip: Pecos National Historical Park
... and photographically, everything remained gorgeous. Deep blue sky, wonderful white clouds floating around, by then lots of warm light from the afternoon sun traveling downward towards the horizon. I found several angles on the Mission that I liked a lot and am sharing only one of them here. However, a place like this offers never-ending opportunities!

This Saturday morning, my wife and I took the opportunity to visit again the Liquidambar trees, which were splendid, in their best moment of Autumn color.
As it had been raining all the night before, and it seemed that it was going to rain again, the park was practically empty, which we appreciated a lot to be able to breathe calmly, not hear noises and be able to take the photos in complete peace.
The Liquidambar leaves were more vibrant than ever after the early morning rain. We loved seeing them.
I hope you like the photo. I take this opportunity to wish you a happy last weekend in October.

When opportunity knocks on your door, always be willing to take a chance, because you never know how perfect something could turn out to be.

In the hour before sunrise, a full moon hanging over the Alaskan Inner Passage, fishing boats drifting in the current hoping for a bountiful catch. I was up early prowling the decks of our cruise ship looking for that award winning shot. I didn't get any awards, but I did get a few memories--the kind that I can relive through the ages from the photos.
It occurs to me that folks might not have the opportunity to experience moments like this for the foreseeable future as the Coronavirus has disrupted the cruise industry indefinitely. I hope you're all safe and out of harms way. Don't forget to wash those hands.

I thought I saw a person working on a farm in the footpath, but in fact it was someone waiting a photo opportunity.😆
農作業中の人がいる、と思ってシャッターを切ったのですが、その人は写真撮影中の人でした😆
While not as scenic as Wahclella Falls, Munra Falls gives you the opportunity to literally "reach out and touch" as you cross the footbridge while heading upstream of Tanner Creek.
Unfortunately this scenic beauty was hit by the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire and it will most likely be years before the area is returned to something close to the condition captured here during one of my 2015 photo adventures.
Located outside of Portland, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge.
Constructive criticism always appreciated.
