Papaver somniferum. I saw a few of these opium poppies at the edge of a field shaded by trees, which may explain why they were flowering late, in mid-September..

I went to another Dorset field last night and I was not alone. The Dorset poppies are quite a spectacle and attract a lot of photographers. Fine by me as I get to meet some nice people and I am not so self conscious about trespassing - Shhh!!!
It was quite a challenging evening. There was quite a vigorous breeze causing a lot of movement, these poppies are like delicate rice paper. My close ups were a bit of a fail.
I think this is the only one I am happy with but one photo is sometimes all you need. And I think I have posted enough poppies now to warrant a lifetime supply of Flake bars!
I would like to say at this point at all times I stuck to either outer edges or lines within the field. It's an absolute no-no treading on these beautiful blooms just to get the shot. Also these opium poppies are someone's livelihood.
