Opium poppy field in the Hunsrück, exactly 2 years ago today.
Schlafmohn-Feld im Hunsrück, heute vor genau 2 Jahren.
The day before yesterday, before sunrise, I drove to an opium poppy field in the triangle near Luxembourg and France.
Sometimes it turns out differently than you think: the field had largely faded. But I was still able to bring some pictures home with me.
Vorgestern fuhr ich vor Sonnenaufgang zu einem Schlafmohn-Feld ins Dreiländereck nahe Luxemburg bzw. Frankreich.
Manchmal kommt es anders als man denkt: das Feld war weitgehend verblüht. Aber einige Bilder konnte ich doch noch mit nach Hause bringen.

One last poppy photograph :) When people ask if it really is worth getting up early for sunrise I think this photo answers that. Just standing on top of the hill watching the mist reveal then hide parts of the landscape while the pre-sunrise light casts a soft hue over everything should be experienced by everyone at least once in their lives :)

Right now these fields are blooming in Dorset and Wiltshire.
They are specifically grown for medicinal reasons and usually come after the red ones.
I havnt found any suitable yet, this was taken two years ago. I have posted it before but I have revisited the shot and done a complete fresh edit with it. I am really happy with this shot now and although I am going out for another look today I won't be too bothered if I don't find any this year.
I must add that this shot was taken from a tractor line. I did not encroach on the poppies.
I was up near Salisbury yesterday, did anyone see the Salisbury Poisoning drama? That was a shocking turn of events and I felt so sorry for that lovely town that I often visit. Felt like a bit of an eerie prequel of other things to come, an invisible threat!

I didn't have to look far for the motif. And yes, it was supposed to be a long exposure again. These can be so wonderfully combined with the music I heard. ;)

L'opium est l'un des plus anciens médicaments mais aussi une des plus anciennes drogues qui peut être consommé de plusieurs façons : avalé, fumé ou injecté. Après absorption de cette drogue, le sujet éprouve une sensation de bien-être. A l'inverse la personne peut vomir, les pupilles se contractent, la bouche se dessèche, la respiration ralentit et provoque l'arrêt du coeur donc la mort. La dose mortelle pour l'homme est de l'ordre de 60 mg.
