This barn has a hint of the open fields in the US (perhaps that's just me)... love slightly elevated view, positioning the barn in the landscape - black and white conversion works well.

Photographed three years ago in the fall, this Bald eagle posed nicely for me.

I can't remember if the open beak here was a yawn or one of their plaintive and distinctive cries. Either way, I was pleased that I was able to capture it just at the right moment.

The thick layer of red autumn leaves made for a striking backdrop!

Enjoy...

For my 100 Flowers Project - 2024

I have been watching this Magnolia tree in bud for the last week or so. I noticed yesterday one bloom had opened.

Painting, acrylic on canvas 16 x 20 inches

Inspired by the paintings of Mr. Edward Hopper, “Open till late” is a painting within a series that I started in the name of “Edward Hopper Project”. My intention is to study how this great American Painter captured the melancholic aesthetics derived from some common urban scenes of loneliness and isolation that we may encounter everywhere any day of the week if we care to look for them. To me, these scenes painted by Mr Hopper are, for want of a better phrase, “achingly beautiful”. Incidenntally, during the painting of this, the famous Simon & Garfunkel song "The sound of silence" keeps coming into my head.

I hope this painting delivers a similar narrative to viewers.
