Smile on Saturday: COPY-COLLAGE

Taken along the edge of Grimms Ditch that runs through Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire, I was taken by the implied forward motion of some of these trees as they appear to be moving along the top of the bank and as we move into a new year seemed an apt image to post.

So on this new years eve can I wish you all the very best and lots of happiness for 2023.

Borneo Eared Frog (Polypedates otilophus). Displaying a perfect climbing technique!

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

This tiny brown argus seemed a little sleepy and slow, but was determined to climb to the top of its stalk for a better view.

After a bit of an emotional and stressful week at work I think I'll take this brave butterfly's lead...onwards and upwards!

A solitary cat climbs the steps in the old town of Albarracin.

I think this might be an Essex skipper due to the black ends of its antennae, but it was looking dazzling in the late evening sunlight even if my ID's wrong!

Lofoten Photo Workshop - Nov 2022

Dappled Light, Hamnoy, Lofoten, Norway

Lofoten, Norway, WOW, what a place. Lofoten is an archipelago of islands that are connected by road bridges and it is quite simply one of the most spectacular places on earth.

I have visited several times, while running both autumn and winter workshops. This particular image was freshly edited this afternoon in Photoshop CC and yet I took it in October 2018. I find it difficult to imagine that I am still editing images from three and a half years ago but Lofoten has proved that there are an almost overwhelming amount of opportunities to capture some stunning scenery.

However, from 2023 onwards, I have decided to drop my autumn Lofoten workshop which normally takes place in November, in favour of doubling up on my winter workshops in January/February instead. So November 2022 will be my final Lofoten workshop that I shall run in the autumn months, so if you wish to jump onboard this year, I have a very limited number of places available.

Arrival by ferry to the Suomenlinna fortress island on an extremely cold winter morning at sunrise with sea fog and icy Baltic sea, the Suomenlinna church (Suomenlinnan kirkko) & lighthouse and historical barracks behind frosty trees on the background. The Suomenlinna fortress island has been an UNESCO World Heritage Site from 1991 onwards and it is located in Helsinki Finland.

An alpine cirque beyond the top left tree-rimmed ridge was our destination. We may have overstretched ourselves a bit on this hike!

A lone figure marches on to the summit and the approaching fog. Huacachina, Peru, South America

After being pretty well holed up due to the extremely high winds we gingerly made our way through the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The forecast was for the winds to drop around midday but there must have been a sting in the tail as it seemed to get worse. We ended up sheltered behind a remote church for around three hours, battered by the elements. Eventually the winds subsided enough for us to continue cautiously onwards.

This pano shot was taken not long afterwards to show the strength of the winds. The winds blowing the water back up the waterfalls, an amazing sight.

The Prussian Class P 8 steam locomotive (here 38 2267 Build 1918) of the Prussian state railways (DRG Class 38.10-40 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn) was built from 1906 onwards by the Berliner Maschinenbau (previously Schwartzkopff) and the Linke-Hofmann factory in Breslau by Robert Garbe. It was intended as a successor to the Prussian P6, which was regarded as unsatisfactory.

Summer trips `19

Europe, Zuid Holland, Overschie, Schie, B737-700, Wing, Winglet (cut from B&T)

Passenger planes generally don’t engage in aerobatics, but climbing out in the sectored (noise contours) Randstad airspace, they sometimes almost have to. Shown here is the river Schie, shot from a sharply banking Transavia B737-700, a minute after take-off from Rotterdam-The Hague airport, on its way to Faro (Algarve-Portugal).

Llyn Dinas Woodland Walk

Every year, flamingos overwinter in the Grevelingenmeer in the Netherlands. During the summer, the flamingos reside in the Zwillbrocker Venn, a lake just across the border in Germany, where they lay their eggs and breed. The lake consists of fresh water, which freezes in winter. Therefore, these colorful birds migrate to the salty Grevelingenmeer from October onwards.
