Midway between Uzuncaburç and Silifke, the village of Demircili retains some Roman mausolea of the IInd or IIIrd century AD. They were built outside the town of Imbriogon, the scanty ruins of which are barely visible in the fields to the west of the road.

Uzuncaburç , 32 km (20 miles) north of Silifke near Turkey's Mediterranean coast, is the ancient city of Diocaesarea-Olba, famous for its great Temple of Zeus Olbius.
At Uzuncaburç the most impressive ruins are those of the Temple of Zeus Olbius, the nearby Temple of Tyche, and the monumental city gate. There are also ruins of a nymphaeum (fountain), and a theater.

Originally the hieron of Olba, the town around the temple was incorporated as a separate city, whose first known coins were minted under Domitian but whose foundation may have dated from ca. A.D. 72 when Vespasian made one province of Cilicia. The city's history, subsequent to its separation, is virtually unknown. It may also have been known by the native name of Prakana.

Similar to nearby Seleucia ad Calicadnus (Silifke), Olba was founded by Seleucus, a general of Alexander the Great, who after the death of his leader, ruled over Anatolia and Syria. The town was entrusted to the Teucrides, a dynasty of priests.
When the Romans conquered the region they established a sort of protectorate over Olba which continued to be ruled by its priests, at least until Emperor Vespasian reorganized the administrative structure of the region. The Romans allowed the Teucrides to mint coins which made reference to the emperors; archaeologists and numismatists have been able to establish the territory controlled by Olba (which included Elaiussa) and its history by analyzing the coins found in the region.

Silifke's 30 km. to the north, the site of today's Uzuncaburç Village was the site of worship of Olba (Ura) in the Hellenistic Age. Today, Olba is known as Ura, 4 km from Uzuncaburç. It was located in Uzuncaburç, the Temple of Zeus where the people worshiped and it is an important settlement to the east.
However, after the Romans ruled the locality, they gave special importance to the place where the Temple of Zeus was located toward the end of the 1st century AD and separated it from Olba and made it an independent site with the name of Diakaiseria. As a matter of fact, all the architectural constructions except Zeus Temple and city burcu belong to Roman period.
It was also used as a settlement in the Byzantine period.
Diokaiseria, which is connected to Kızkalesi (Korykos) in a stone-paved way on the Olba surrounded by the city walls in antiquity, is the most important structure of the temple and other residences.

Temple of Zeus Olbius
The remote village of Uzuncaburc is located high in the Taurus Mountains at about 28 km from Silifke. Once it was the ancient temple-city of Olbia also called Olba and was a centre of worship to Zeus Olbius. This site, originally the Zeus Cult Centre, was separated by the Romans from the Hellenistic city of Olba and was given a city-state status with a new name Diocaesarea in 72 AD.
Aprovechando las últimas fechas que la via láctea está en buen posición, fuà con unos colegas a la zona de Olba.
Un pueblo abandonado donde no sabes donde encuadrar por la cantidad de rinconcitos que hay.

Diocaesarea, the Latin name of Olba which means town of God and Caesar, is a confirmation of the religious importance of the town. A large Temple to Zeus was founded in the IIIrd century BC; it was built at the centre of a rectangular courtyard, the access to which was most likely allowed only during ceremonies. With that of Euromos it is one of the finest examples of Corinthian temples in Asia Minor.
