A Bran-colored Flycatcher and its offspring (foreground). These small flycatchers are not rare, but can be difficult to see, as they spend most of their time in the undergrowth foraging for insects. Photographed in Envigado, Central Andes.

Why is World Parrot Day so important to this cockatoo?
In late 2021, the rare and striking palm cockatoo had its conservation status reclassified from least concern to endangered following a recent population drop. Major habitat loss has been cited as the primary cause of the species’ decline. Australia’s palm cockatoos are found only in the rainforests of Cape York Peninsula, at the northern tip of Queensland. Land clearing due to mining and worsening bushfires due to climate change are shrinking the species’ already limited viable habitat.
Making matters worse, the palm cockatoo has an unusually slow rate of reproduction. Females lay only a single egg every two years. Research suggests that chick loss to due predation results in palm cockatoo pairs only producing—on average—a single offspring every ten years. There are thought to be fewer than 1,500 birds remaining in the wild. (Source: www.aviculturehub.com.au/)
While photographing in the Cape York Peninsula in November 2022, we went out five nights in a row to look for these birds as they came in from a day of foraging. We were lucky to watch this particular male on several nights when he called loudly to claim his territory and bring in his mate. See flic.kr/p/2oEf6eG for a photo of the pair.
It was incredible being able to watch these birds on multiple evenings and witness a wide range of behaviors including the famous drumming they do with sticks and hard nuts; this behavior has earned them the nickname "Ringo Star."
Whilst on a little drive around rural Leicestershire before starting work I came across this beautiful moody misty dawn scene between Beacon hill and Woodhouse eaves.
The juxtaposition of sets of trees made me think of the nearest trees as parents and the furthest trees their offspring...strange I know, bits thats photographers for you.

Weather was starting to get fresh so we could turn out the horses early. We've bring out those two and we can say that they were enjoying the cool wind ! The mare can't deny her baby as it's her copy minus the markings ! They are just so pretty together.

Bahati, a 12-year-old female leopard in the central Masai Mara, still makes the hearts and lenses of many photographers beat faster.
She has already successfully raised several offspring in the past.
Her appearance in her traditional territory on the Olare Orok River is still extremely confident and powerful.
I was delighted to find her so photogenic high up in her loft house during my visit this year.
The light drizzle conjured up a very special atmosphere in this shot.
Massai Mara - Kenya

After what felt like forever, I finally had a deer in front of the camera again ^_^
An adult fawn from this year.

Redstart (Phoenicurus) baby birds =) (either Common Redstart or Black Redstart)
Figurines called Sand Tufa’s (pronounced toofah), gradually jettison up from salty floors as freshwater springs percolate through briny lake-bottom sand. Intricate sand tubes and columns become exposed as winds strip away their sandy coverings, and cast reflections off the shoreline of Mono Lake, CA. According to research data, this shallow lake basin is probably 1-3 million years old; making it among the most ancient lakes in North America. Embracing roughly 400 recorded vertebrate species within its watershed, Mono Lake and its surrounding areas encompass one of California’s richest natural resources. Coupled with the Milky Way’s expanse; it gives the viewer a sense of an ecosystem struggling for survival.

Well ... this started off as a photo of some flowers ....
Because Limax maximus, regardless of their size, eat the eggs of other snails and their offspring, they are regarded as beneficial insects rather than pests, especially in vegetable gardens.
I used to be proud to be the #fruit of two nations! To be Swedish Hungarian but now I feel ashamed! A nation that has received so much help both financially and as refugees from Sovjet must have forgotten everything in the sign of fascism!!!
Here you have my contribution to this week's theme “#fruits” for the Swedish flickr group Photo Sunday.
This image was made some time ago when the terns seemed to be teaching their latest offspring how to bath. It only took place over a few days.
My son Daniel brought along his Guy Fawkes mask so I stuck him behind bars and shot him for treason!
SALIDA MATINAL CON LA BANDA DEL CHARCO
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
