The waves at Nubble Lighthouse crash harshly against the rocks. The beauty of such power is being able to stand safely but close to experience the sounds and feel the spray of the waves.
Long Absence - We've been having fun as our house flooded and we had to move into a hotel - so a sudden departure for an internet free experience - for six weeks.
While contractors were replacing dry wall and floors - we did a brief tour of SoCal (Happy Halloween) and Hawaii. Then back to our new life in the hotel - at least no one was injured, just a little extra stress. - finally we are back home.
Now to catch up. - thanks to everyone for their support.
A flood is a sign of purging the old, and in it's wake, everything is renewed. So either it's time for a change, or it's just been a big pain in the ....

As the title says, just another angle from my outing at Whale Beach the other week. Been a bit busy with work lately which kinda makes looking at photo's difficult. Hopefully will calm down soon....how dare it get in the way of my hobby (hehe)

Relentlessly moving waters of the sea never ceases to fascinate. The island with tree stands firm in spite of being surrounded by sea, continuously forcing its water to strike!

Some birds are exceptionally beautiful but this does not mean that they are friendly or kind. Nature doesn't work that way* and this elegant flier is no exception.
Long-tailed Skuas are bullies, harassing other birds returning home after making a catch. They will cause the other bird to drop their fish where the Long-tailed Skuas can retrieve it.During the breeding season they will rely more on hunting down the rodent population. They will hover over their prey, then swoop down to pounce and peck its victim to death.
* Long-tailed Skua eggs and young are prey for Arctic Foxes and various rodents - and so life goes on the Arctic tundra.

Did you know the word "yacht" comes from a Dutch word "jacht", meaning "hunt" or "hunting," because it referred to fast sailing vessels used for pursuing pirates?

The southeastern coast of New Zealand's south island includes a stretch of coast with unique rocks, the Moeraki Boulders. These almost perfectly spherical rocks balance nicely against the soft glow of sunset.
Nice to be able to get out in the water first thing in the morning without a huge chill factor ;-)
