El nombre de Isla de Pascua le fue dado por el navegante neerlandés Jacob Roggeween que la descubrió el 5 de abril de 1722, debido a que esa fecha correspondía al día de Pascua de Resurrección. Recibió el nombre de Paasers en neerlandés, que luego fue traducida al español como Pascua. Con este nombre, y sus traducciones, es conocida la isla internacionalmente. Los habitantes de la isla, independientemente de su origen étnico, utilizan el gentilicio "pascuense".
La isla también recibió el nombre de isla de San Carlos por el navegante español Felipe González Ahedo, que la denominó así en honor al rey Carlos I de España.

"Supplied new in Belfast. Purchased by the vendor in 2017 from the nephew of the first owner where it had been in storage for 15 years. The vendor advises that it started first time & even the sun-roof retracted fully. rish classic car restorers, Benjamin Lichtenberg, undertook some recommissioning work including the fitting of a new Mercedes exhaust system & some minor bodywork. The car was then taken to a local Mercedes specialist based in Dublin where minor foibles were sorted out & where it has been stored since. It comes with the original service book stamped in 1978 at Isaac Agnew Mercedes, Belfast, a few MoTs from the 1980's & 1990's, the data card, wallet, handbooks & spare key. Current mileage reads 46,181. Please note: The V5 that is retained in the file is not current. The car remains recorded at DVLA but is registering an export marker in 2016 and will require UK re-registration. It is also sold subject to being issued with a new MoT the week commencing the 16th April at the cost of the vendor. This will assist with the registration together with the NOVA reference that will also be provided.
