Spock and his friend Merlin, beautiful whippets, now live next door to us. I fear that my portrait shows Spock a little severe, whereas in reality he is so gentle.
I guess he may have been startled to find himself the object of my attention with my camera.
One of his humans did express a liking for the photo.....I'm really not sure and present it here and no doubt you will tell me what you think....

Now that we are in the winter doldrums, let's start the New Year with something a little cheery! This was taken on Independence Day, July 4th.
A photo taken yesterday of a Brazilian Plum Flower just strting to bloom; it's also called the Flamingo Flower or Jacobinia.

After catching the IR power move on the east side of Sheridan, I tried to catch it crossing the Fox River Bridge on the west side of Sheridan. That is difficult at best from my location, and it unexpectedly failed. So I headed to Wedron to get it coming over the Indian Creek Bridge. Here it is, crossing the exceedingly overgrown bridge on the north side of Wedron, just before entering the yard at the sand plant.

Reclamation of Vembanad Lake started in the late 19th century and continued until the mid-20th century.
The construction of the Thanneermukkom salt water barrage in 1974 bisected the lake into a brackish part in the north and a freshwater part in the south. It has a lock for houseboats.
Vembanad off Alappuzha is now freshwater. It was a great benefit for the rice farmers in Kuttanad but created a water hyacinth problem and a decline in fish catch.

Now that we've crossed the Alps, we turn left and visit one of Slovenia's absolute tourist highlights, Lake Bled.
Slovenia itself is an impressive travel destination. Especially for those who love untouched nature, which I certainly am.
Here you'll find ancient forests, impressive waterfalls, and turquoise, wild rivers.
And also this place: A romantic lake surrounded by high mountains, which you can only guess at in the photo due to the clouds.
Nun, da wir die Alpen überquert haben, wenden wir uns nach links und besuchen eines der absoluten touristischen Highlights von Slovenien, den Bleder See.
Slovenien an sich ist ein beeindruckendes Reiseziel. Vor allem für alle, die von unberührter Natur begeistert sind, was auf mich voll zutrifft.
So findet man hier alte Wälder, beeindruckende Wasserfälle und türkisfarbene wilde Flüsse.
Und eben auch diesen Ort hier. Einen romantischen See inmitten hoher Berge, welche man auf dem Bild wegen der Wolken im Moment allerdings nur erahnen kann.
This week's Happy Caturday them is "now and then". I took this photo of Mack this week with an actual camera. He is now over 17 years old and that shows mainly in the "lacey" look of his irises and the dark freckles on his nose and on the rims of his eyes. His face has become more angular as he loses fat and he stands with his elbows bent out because of osteoarthritis. He has lost his two cohorts, Jimmy and Ella.
Mack has strong opinions and a very loud voice. For so much of his life he has seemed dissatisfied - he wants to be out when he's in, he wants it to be warmer outside when he sniffs the cold air in the winter, he wants more food when he was on a diet... So when he sleeps in the sun - inside or out - or when he grooms in an open window on his perch, I'm filled with a peaceful feeling because at least for a moment, all is right in Mack's little world. This morning when I woke up it was still dark out and the first thing I saw as I stood up was Mack playing with his catnip fish toy. A happy, playful, content Mack was the perfect way to start the day.

Now and then I look out the window in the morning and think "Well, I have to take a picture of this." Hand held using the rule of thirds grid as a guide. Super Takumar 135mm f3.5 at f3.5. M42 mount.
Now is the time for all Americans to work together!!! Together we stand, divided we fall!!! This has been such a wonderful day in America's history!!!! I send prayers and best wishes to our new President!!!!! I took a shot from my husbands photo's, one of mine a peace symbol and a crop from Life magazine and layered them to create this shot.

Wagtails at the lake near my home have one juvenile.
He is as big than mom and dad, and soooo noisy :)
Easy for the photographer to find them now
For this one I was on a bridge and the wagtails in tree over the lake or under the bridge on the ground
