This is probably why I did so miserably in inorganic chemistry first year in college. These were the sort of notes I took in class. :) It's funny because my young nephew said today that he might consider Chemical Engineering. Cool for him! But the two words put together made me shudder...
اختلاس المواقف الجميله وكتابتها اصبحت شيئا صعب في حياة مليئة بِ مشاعر تموت قبل أن تولد احيانا, وغالبا مشاعر عقيمة
The left side page are some notes for a class I was teaching and the right side is just fun practice.
When I make chips on this new version of this fixture, it needs to go horizontally and vertically...
This is only the first shelf of the collection, but please note that they are alphabetized.

what i didn't anticipate - but should have - given his love of writing down his thoughts is that odin would be very keen on taking a few ( i.e. all ) of the notebooks for his own use.
odin: "hey, those look great. can i have them?"
me: "uuuuuhhhh. i was really planning on these using these around the house and at work."
odin: "oooooh, c'mon! i can have at least one, right?"
me: "o.k. one will be fine for now. we'll order more. pick one."
i secretly hope he doesn't pick the red "amber" notebook because i like the color as it slowly dawns on me that i'm giving him the option of choosing a notebook dedicated to a style of beer and wonder if he's going to take it to school.
gah. he chose amber. now i'm thinking i have to order some winter editions and swap them out on the chance he wants to use it for notes at school :-)

Wow – what an incredible week we’ve had, Atlantis rolling out to the Pad, Endeavour landing and a 3 day holiday weekend. I’m definitely embracing the moments and savoring the memories!! Thank you for being such an amazing team. I’ll send out Sharing 2 of 2 tomorrow. Patty
I received many request for the jpg version of the F-15 STS-134 launch picture. Here it is plus more☺ Also attached are lots of STS-135 roll out pictures to share with family and friends.
Things of beauty.
I often forget the small things that inspire me. One of them is old currency. I have a small collection. These are pre Bolshevik revolution Rubles. The further back you go in time, you can literally see why we call these things "bank notes". They literally used to be these huge notes from a bank saying "yeah, we agree to pay blah blah X amount".
The artistry and style that goes into these things is amazing. And even better, you can pick up these little bits of history really quite cheaply from a bunch of places.
"The design and execution would be okay as a practice effort in a private area during the artist's/artists' training period, but a long-term work of public art on a downtown thoroughfare demands greater professionalism than this," I said.

Road construction: Soil auger mounted on City truck crane boom drills a hole for pier to support lighting/sign. At auger bit full depth, boom lifts out auger after drilling to its depth, retaining a large part of the soil on the auger bit. City workers then shovel back the soil from hole to keep it from falling into the hole. Soil on bit will soon be placed in bed of truck on photo's right. Note truck crane outriggers are extended to support crane boom against overturning the truck.Huron Parkway at Huron High School, near Huron River, Ann Arbor, MI, 2005
