While looking for a particular work notebook I stumbled across this. An old birthday present. Never used. I'd put it in a drawer and forgotten about it. I now feel guilty that someone put thought in to this gift and I've not used it :-(
I've vowed to make use of it this year and look forward to doing so.
I drew this scene one Saturday afternoon in July 2001. I was working as as Lineman at an FBO at GGG. There was a severe thunderstorm that day, so no planes were flying. The airport was dead quiet except for thunder. I was sitting behind the front desk watching the rain blowing across the runway. The other guy working that day was sleeping in the Pilots Lounge. It was sort of cool outside due to the massive frontal system moving through. This is the very first time I had ever drawn this little robot. I guess I remember that day more vividly than I realized. I know I was relaxed and felt content.
Found on my nightstand: my notebook.
Taken with a Rodenstock XR-Heligon 68mm lens. This lens has an aperture of roughly f/1.
Strobist:
Desk lamp directly above. It's hard to use strobes with this lens because I'm not able to adjust the aperture. It's wide-open all the time.
Traveler's Notebooks, painted. "Weit Tree", A6 baby brother of the first one...so now there are 2 Weit Tree TN's =)
Repurposed medical chart dividers are used for the covers of these small notebooks. Great for your purse, as party favors, or to sell in your shop. They measure 5 inches high by 3 inches wide when closed. They contain 10 papers which create 20 pages. The papers vary in each book but all the books contain graph paper, construction paper, accounting paper, yellow and white notebook paper, and practice writing paper. Each notebook is machine stitched with white thread.
This WHOLESALE listing is for 10 books, 2 each of the following:
PROGRESS NOTES
OPERATIVE & PATH REPORT
BILLING INFO
REFERRAL CONSULTATION
X-RAY
Mom's old notebook with songs revealed some of her doodles on the margins and a couple of watercolor illustrations by classmate
Look close and you can see where the pages are breaking slightly at the perforation. I don't mean they were coming out, only that they are bending along the perforation.

I made this photo for a step by step diy blog post on how to make your own notebook: hallosunny.blogspot.nl/2014/09/diy-zaknotitieboekje-in-10...
You can use it, but please link back to the original blog post.
I added a fold out map of the Chicago Loop in the front and an envelope to store checks, receipts, and other small papers, in the back of the notebook. This is a notebook I received at the Apple Store grand opening in Schaumburg, IL. The store is Illinois' first.
