This Coptic bound book features beautiful handmade Indian cotton paper, and chiyogami Japanese paper. The diagonal stitching I created by drawing out the pattern I wanted finished on the spine with a pencil, then punching all the sewing stations from the back (the "mountain peak").
A little bonus is the lined pages - I figured out that I could just print them on my computer!
The journal is filled with 160 pages of 60lb acid free sketch paper.

Today (Monday) is the National holidays in my country, and I'm gonna go to a home party of one of my firiends from now on. So I would post my article about this project to my blog after I came back. (Maybe, tommorow.)
Sorry for the inconvenience for the people are used to enjoy reading it.

Notebook made using all natural and recycled material. The pages inside are 100% recycled paper. The cover is a sheet of handmade paper that I made using my green paper scraps. Bound onto a leafy twig from the back yard.
Bound using the same method as my "chopstick notebooks" - tutorial here:

Visit my bookbinding blog for more stuff about making "recycled" books
what i didn't anticipate - but should have - given his love of writing down his thoughts is that odin would be very keen on taking a few ( i.e. all ) of the notebooks for his own use.
odin: "hey, those look great. can i have them?"
me: "uuuuuhhhh. i was really planning on these using these around the house and at work."
odin: "oooooh, c'mon! i can have at least one, right?"
me: "o.k. one will be fine for now. we'll order more. pick one."
i secretly hope he doesn't pick the red "amber" notebook because i like the color as it slowly dawns on me that i'm giving him the option of choosing a notebook dedicated to a style of beer and wonder if he's going to take it to school.
gah. he chose amber. now i'm thinking i have to order some winter editions and swap them out on the chance he wants to use it for notes at school :-)
Calepino vs Field Notes. Doesn't really make a difference, as the Calepino wins on paper quality anyway.
One foldout I'm using shows the Month's to-do list on the left and the calendar on the right. I have preprinted reminders on the left including holidays, birthdays, etc. Then I write in anything new that comes up as it comes up. This shows the future month of May 2007. The current month would also show my meetings, trips, visitors, etc. on the calendar. The reminders on the left get transferred (or pre-printed) on my daily pages when it's time to print a new month.
Kikkerland first shown this leaflet to sell city notebook to retailers in Book Expo Washington, then New York Stationery Show. One would have high expectation after seeing these descriptions and illustrations....

I wrote a total schedule page in my notebook by hand. (?)
Plain linen cover with contrasting pastedowns. Thin boards, almost flexible to the hand. Seems like I am starting to understand the appropriate proportions of notebooks.
Handmade hardback notebook, cover made from blueprints bought at Hell's Kitchen Flea Market, NYC. Blueprints are dated 1942.
Fieldnotes sized Traveler's notebook with 3 inserts, a WOTP diary, an address book and a lined insert
4"w x 6"h x 1⅛" thick
120 sheets or 240 pages counting front & back
(20 sheets were cut from a used columnar book from 1954 - some are written on and some are not; 100 sheets are granite cream paper)
made from granite cream paper, used ledger paper, cotton thread (with double coptic stitch binding) and elastic; cover is made from a recycled gift bag and binder board
the elastic used for this project was originally white, so i soaked it in 1 part true burgundy acrylic paint and 2 parts water for about 3-4 hours... when it was completely dry, i stretched the elastic to get rid of any stiffness; the white cotton thread used for the binding was soaked in 1 part true burgundy acrylic paint and 2 parts water for about 3-4 hours... when it was completely dry, i waxed the thread with beeswax; i did not dye the second piece of cotton thread, but i did wax it with beeswax
also, i printed lines on both sides of the granite cream paper inside the book, but left the ledger paper as is
