A music club is starting at my friend's school and she asked me to create something w/ a rose & music notes (I understand the notes, but why a rose???) for.... a flyer? I have no idea - haha. I guess I'll upload this anyway.

Adding a note about Bokeh: for me, the best Bokeh photos have a lot of activity just outside the focal length of the subject. I especially like it when there is blur both in the foreground and the background, and at varying degrees of blur, like in this photo. Here you have an old, dead blossom, several unopened buds, and the hint of another orange blossom in the upper left corner.

This was my "Best of 2020" photo. I had been out shooting for several hours, and when I arrived home, something caught my eye in the Coreopsis plant that had taken over part of our front garden. The plant had grown quite large, with an intricate mesh of stems, buds and flowers of a brilliant, flaming orange color. Looking closer, I saw this lovely Buckeye butterfly spreading its wings. I had to maneuver to a position where the view wasn't blocked by the lattice of stems, and was worried the shot would disappear, but I got it just before take off. I love the colors in this shot, and the morning light and shadows, but also the framing and perspective created by all the stems at different focal lengths.

Deardorff camera with the 15" Lerebours et Secretans Petzval lens. Exposure was 5 seconds, using a lens cap.

I need to use this lens more often, but the combination if the Deardorff with the Lerebours lens is damn heavy!

The birds we love have been sending love notes (see box in image above) to us birdwatchers. This Cape May warbler sent a most subtle love note my way, expressing his appreciation for my coming out to admire him in the remnants of Hurricane Delta. It's always nice to be loved back by someone you love.

For the Macro Mondays theme, Jan 25 2021, we were asked to photographically depict a song that we had related to during lock-down. The song that spun through my mind during that time was Queen's "Another one bites the dust".

During our lock-down in New Zealand, at one stage we seemed to have a lot of flies coming into the house (Summer), so we were singing the song as we swatted them.

Funny thing - I had only just managed to stop it singing around in my head all day, when this theme was suggested, but now it's back 😂 LOL
