Hay racks are an ethnological speciality of Slovenia. In Alps, summers are short and hay must be covered to get dry. But I never saw an idea to use it as staff for notation. Well, my wife says this notation of Slovenian national anthem (Zdravljica / The Toast) has at the end some faults, but the idea is still fine.

This tiny bud came from a miniature rose plant I bought at the supermarket in the village because I love the colour. The notebook, or aide-mémoire, is French and dates back to the 1910s. It's made of brass and is silver-plated. The lace is from the 1930s. I seem to have stalled for the moment in vintage mode. Perhaps it's because I've just hit a big birthday. :)

This unique style of architecture has its roots far back in Korean history and derives its singular style from the simple peasant houses that were common hundreds of years ago and had actual thatched roofs with generous eaves. Although the Koreans build most of their buildings using international standards of architectural design they do occasionally build structures, especially houses or sometimes restaurants, using this style that harks back to their distant past. I find them most interesting and pleasing to the eye. There is something of the Hobbit about these homes.
Please note that this was downloaded four years ago and I found a far better version of this than the one I originally ran. So this is a do-over. This house, due to its peculiar but lovely construction, was challenging in getting a shot that did not look distorted because the house itself was built in such an eccentric way. So...here it is again in all its glory.

Note to self: the American red squirrel tends to be solitary and very territorial, so it's unusual to see one exploring a new area dominated by birds and gray squirrels, It is particularly aggressive in trying to drive gray squirrels from its territory, although I didn't see any displays of such aggression. Gray squirrels also dominate the yard depicted in this image. This red squirrel also appears to have had an injury to its tail. Cosmetic revisions of color and sharpening added 6/2/24.
