Hay racks are an ethnological speciality of Slovenia. In Alps, summers are short and hay must be covered to get dry. But I never saw an idea to use it as staff for notation. Well, my wife says this notation of Slovenian national anthem (Zdravljica / The Toast) has at the end some faults, but the idea is still fine.
As many opine for the days when the Bozeman Local ran like clockwork and with clean power, no doubt people such as Mark Hemphill yearn for when the MRL #405 plied the rails as DRGW #3047. Although the tonnage on this day won't make a dent in the speed, even with a 1.9% grade ahead, the #405 undoubtedly saw mountain territory in its previous life. The #3047 was one of 22 GP35's delivered to the DRGW between 1964/65. Like most of the GP35 fleet, it lasted just about 28 years, being retired in Dec 1993 along with 17 others. An interesting note is that all 22 GP35's were made to be trailing unit only in 1972, removing cab seats, toilets and radios. I am unsure if this lasted until their retirement or if they were made lead qualified again at some point. Thanks to utahrails.net for the great details! Its an interesting note that by now the #405 has spent close to or more time on the Montana Rail Link than it did the Denver and Rio Grande Western. Time marches on!

This tiny bud came from a miniature rose plant I bought at the supermarket in the village because I love the colour. The notebook, or aide-mémoire, is French and dates back to the 1910s. It's made of brass and is silver-plated. The lace is from the 1930s. I seem to have stalled for the moment in vintage mode. Perhaps it's because I've just hit a big birthday. :)
This is how beautiful the sky looked as the solar eclipse was ending in the Castiltierra area of Segovia, Spain, very close to the Hermitage of Santo Cristo del Corporario.
The arrival of Saharan dust, as it does every summer in southern Europe, and its coincidence with several forest fires not far from this location, created a golden effect in the sky just as the Sun was setting.
The eclipse ended in this area when the sun was already below the horizon.
On the left, you can see one of the Nikon cameras belonging to my friend Ángel Santillán, a Flickr member, with whom we shared these beautiful moments.
The planet Jupiter can be seen as a white dot in the upper left.
What you see in the lower half of the photo is a field of sunflowers, ready for harvest.
Please note that the right side of the sky is darker than the left. This is because the eclipse had not yet ended, and the moon was still obscuring the right (or northern) side of the landscape.
TERMINANDO EL ECLIPSE, 2026
Así de bello estaba el cielo cuando estaba terminando el eclipse solar en la zona de Castiltierra, Segovia, España, muy cerca de la ermita del Santo Cristo del Corporario.
La llegada del polvo del Sáhara, como cada verano en el sur de Europa y la coincidencia con varios incendios forestales no muy lejos de este lugar, consiguieron un efecto dorado en el cielo justo cuando el Sol se estaba poniendo.
El eclipse terminó en esta zona cuando el Sol ya estaba por debajo del horizonte.
A la izquierda se ve una de las cámaras Nikon de mi amigo Ángel Santillán, miembro de Flickr, con quien compartimos estos bellos momentos.
El planeta Júpiter se puede ver como un punto blanco arriba a la izquierda.
Lo que se ve en la mitad inferior de la foto es un campo de girasoles, listo para la cosecha.
Os ruego que observéis que la parte derecha del cielo está más oscura que la parte izquierda. Eso es debido a que el eclipse no había terminado y la Luna seguía oscureciendo la parte derecha (o Norte) del paisaje.
Note to self: the American red squirrel tends to be solitary and very territorial, so it's unusual to see one exploring a new area dominated by birds and gray squirrels, It is particularly aggressive in trying to drive gray squirrels from its territory, although I didn't see any displays of such aggression. Gray squirrels also dominate the yard depicted in this image. This red squirrel also appears to have had an injury to its tail. Cosmetic revisions of color and sharpening added 6/2/24.

I used a cash machine & was surprised to get the first new note I had seen. The notes showing the Queen are still in regular use & the new notes are only being issued when they are needed.
Quick note - Black Mask isn't African-American. As you can see, in the closeup with more intense lighting, his skin is red.

After pleading insanity in a court case, White was sent to Arkham Asylum, where he endured torture from his various cellmates. After escaping in a riot set up by the Scarecrow, White climbed his way to the top of the food chain and established himself as one of the top arms dealers in Gotham City.

Utilizing Providence & Worcester RR B39-8 #3905 (off inbound train CHFP), New York & Atlantic Railway train RS-301 works on the LIRR's Lower Montauk Branch at Maspeth (Queens), NY on the morning of April 29, 2015. Conductor Matt Sharkey and engineer (and NY&A legend) Tommy Materka are spotting loads at Quality Aggregates. The Long Island RR stopped running trains on this line a few years ago and deactivated the signal system, as well as giving operational control to the NY&A. Note the wind torn trash bag coming off the dark position light.

The artistic expression of such a great sense of motion in space is one of the greatest virtues of this sculpture, located near "Las Patgetes" in Moraira, next to the "Man looking at the sea" sculpture, another work by the same artist, Toni Marí Sart. They are two beautiful attractions for tourists and residents, making their walks even more pleasant and enjoyable through this wonderful Mediterranean coastal town.
